Item #: SCP-####
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-#### is to be contained within a standard humanoid containment cell. They are to be provided with a bed, approved clothing, and approved literature. Additional furniture and items may be provided upon request after approval from Head Researcher Richardson.
Description: SCP-#### is a 21 year old male of Scottish descent, of average height and build, with thick brown hair and blue eyes. SCP-#### has a severe obsession with travel.
Its anomalous abilities manifest upon entering a vehicle as a hitchhiker. Upon initially entering the vehicle no effects will be evident. Between 10 and 30 minutes after entering, the road being travelled upon will have emptied of other vehicles through visually non-anomalous means. If the destination of the driver would have been reached they will instead find themselves driving down roads typical of the area they are travelling in but not conforming to any known roads. During this period any global positioning devices will fail. Radio and phone signal is retained throughout this period.
Over the following 30 to 90 minutes the vehicle will travel into a landscape resembling that of a different area to the initial pickup point. The exact time this transition takes is dependent on the difference between the original and the eventual landscapes. At this time the road will have stopped conforming to any existing roads if it had not done so at an earlier point in the journey.
After the ‘travel’ period, within 15 minutes the vehicle will arrive in a village or town1 between 100 and 500km from the initial pickup point, whereupon SCP-#### will thank the driver and exit the vehicle. Soon after its departure Global Positioning devices will return to full functionality.
SCP-#### appears to be capable of determining the destination of the vehicle. Doing so will reduce the 'travel' period of the journey, to a minimum of 15 minutes.
During questioning SCP-#### has disclosed that their desire to travel manifested after they first discovered their own anomalous effects. Their desire to travel is to be treated as non-anomalous for the time being.
