Item #: SCP-[NUMBER]
Object Class: Euclid (pending class re-adjustment)
Special Containment Procedures: There is always to be a team of at least six individuals monitoring the spread of SCP-[NUMBER] including:
• One D-Class personnel who has been in contact with SCP-[NUMBER] within the past three-hundred and twelve hours
• One technology specialist of level two security clearance or higher
• Two researchers of level two security clearance or higher
• Two security officers tasked with containing aforementioned D-Class individual
When said individuals sleep or need rest, replacement personnel are required to be on duty immediately. Individuals who have come into contact with SCP-[NUMBER] are to be contained until symptoms of withdrawal have subsequently subsided. Any and all instances of SCP-[NUMBER], whether on the internet or inside of physical copies are to be swiftly terminated. Any broadcasting stations, whether television or Radio, found to be airing instances of SCP-[NUMBER] are to be located and evacuated before foreclosure of the property. All persons suspected to have come into contact with SCP-[NUMBER] are to be taken to a foundation holding site for a minimum of three-hundred and twelve hours for observation. Persons in containment are not to be allowed access to musical instruments or recording hardware, no matter how much they beg and plead.
Description: SCP-[NUMBER] is a tune comprised of forty-four musical notes. First appearing in a 1986 commercial for ███████ brand laundry detergent. Sales data collected from ███████ shows that sales for said laundry detergent spiked by almost three hundred percent in just three hours. The United States Productivity Report shows that total productivity in the workplace on the day said commercial was aired dropped by almost six-point forty-five percent. The day after, productivity in the workplace had dropped by a staggering fourteen percent. This is when the foundation took notice and began working to contain SCP-[NUMBER]. Almost twenty-four percent of the foundation's resources (including SCP-062, SCP-2099, SCP-██████, SCP-028 and SCP-█████) were devoted to finding and containing all instances of SCP-[NUMBER]. Today, this number has dropped to about three percent.
SCP-[NUMBER] has been found to have similar properties to that of a very powerful addictive drug. After first contact with an individual, SCP-[NUMBER] begins to take over neurons in the brain, rewriting them in order to form an addiction so intense that individuals affected will do anything to hear it again. Instances of withdrawal caused by SCP-[NUMBER] include side effects such as:
• Extreme mood swings
• Advanced stages of anxiety and depression
• Random fits of anger
• Auditory hallucinations
• Reduced brain function
• Pain in the ear canal (described as excruciating)
In order to listen to SCP-[NUMBER] for research purposes only and as approved by at least two personnel with a level four security clearance or higher, please enter the correct passcode below. Before listening, please ensure that you have ingested your recommended dosage of ████████-2 in order to avoid adverse side effects and addiction.
Please note that this is the original SCP-[NUMBER] and audio quality cannot be ensured.
Testing: Over seven-hundred tests involving SCP-[NUMBER] have been conducted. Because of its nature, only twelve of the original test documents are available to personnel level two and under (excluding level 0 personnel). They have been summarized in the table below.
| Test # | Test Subject(s) | Description of Test | Summarized Report |
|---|---|---|---|
| #1 | D-4859673 | Test subject was required to listen to SCP-[NUMBER]. Test subject was then observed for twenty-four hours. | D-4859673 was observed to particularly enjoy the tune and asked for it to be played again. When her request was refused, she grew increasingly more anxious. After eight hours without hearing the tune, she attempted suicide. |
| #64 | D-5968359 | Test subject was required to partake in a short questionnaire before and after listening to SCP-[NUMBER]. | Before listening to SCP-[NUMBER], D-596835975 showed exceptional results in the test given to him. Four days after listening to SCP-[NUMBER] and during his withdrawal, D-596835975 showed decreased aptitude when required to take the aforementioned test a second time. |
| #101 | D-7583558 | Test subject was required to ingest ████████-1 and listen to SCP-[NUMBER]. | When asked how SCP-[NUMBER] made him feel after drinking ████████-1, D-7583558 said it made him feel warm and fuzzy inside. When SCP-[NUMBER] was turned off, D-7583558 begged to be allowed to listen to it again, describing it as, "The most beautiful thing I've ever heard." |
| #102 | D-575383 | Test subject was required to ingest ████████-2 and listen to SCP-[NUMBER]. | When asked how SCP-[NUMBER] made her feel after drinking ████████-2, D-575383 said the jingle annoyed her and asked for it to be turned off. |
| #123 | D-7838496 | Test Subject was required to listen to SCP-[NUMBER] once and re-create it to the best of their ability. | After listening to SCP-[NUMBER], D-7838496 was given an electric keyboard and asked to play SCP-[NUMBER] from memory. Despite having never played the piano in his life, D-7838496 was able to re-create the tune with startling accuracy. |
| #250 | D-8305827 | Test subject was required to listen to SCP-[NUMBER]. Test subject was then observed until symptoms ceased. | D-8305827 was strapped to a bed and forced to listen to SCP-[NUMBER]. Afterward, D-8305827 begged to be allowed to listen to it again, even going so far as to threaten test conductors repeatedly. After thirteen days of observation, symptoms of withdrawal ceased and D-8305827 appeared to have been stabilized. |
| #251 | D-8305827 | A test subject previously exposed to SCP-[NUMBER] was required to listen to it a second time. Test subject was then observed until symptoms of withdrawal ceased. | D-8305827 was once again strapped to a bed and forced to listen to SCP-[NUMBER]. Afterward, D-8305827 pleaded with test conductors to turn it back on. After three days and fourteen hours, test subject managed to bite through his restraints and attempted suicide. D-8305827 was immobilized by on-site security and his previous restraints were replaced with chains. After twenty-seven days, symptoms ceased and D-8305827 appeared to have stabilized. |
| #252 | D-8305827 | A test subject previously exposed to SCP-[NUMBER] was required to listen to it a third time. Test subject was then observed until symptoms of withdrawal ceased. | D-8305827 was chained to a bed once more, this time putting up a fight and threatening test conductors with bodily harm. He repeatedly pleaded with test conductors to refrain from playing SCP-[NUMBER]. After listening to SCP-[NUMBER], D-8305827 immediately began exhibiting symptoms of psychosis and attempted to break free from his restraints. Slowly, D-8305827's mental functions began to deteriorate. After seven hours of observation, D-8305827 was reported brain dead by Dr.██████ and was disposed of. |
| #589 | D-15794 | Test subject was required to listen to SCP-[NUMBER]. Test subject was then given access to the internet and asked to locate other instances of SCP-[NUMBER] | After listening to SCP-[NUMBER], D-15794 was given a computer and was told he could listen to SCP-[NUMBER] if he managed to find an instance of SCP-[NUMBER] on the internet (this was after the tech division had swept the internet and terminated all instances of SCP-[NUMBER] that they could). After only Forty-eight minutes, despite coming from a country with very limited access to computers and technology, D-15794 managed to find thirty-seven hidden instances of SCP-[NUMBER]. After withdrawal symptoms had subsided, D-15794 was asked to do the same once more. After one hour and seventeen minutes, D-15794 had only managed to open a web browser before giving up and throwing the computer across the room in frustration. |
| #599 | D-9954999 | Test subject was required to listen to SCP-[NUMBER]. Test subject was then required to listen to four audio clips and determine which had SCP-[NUMBER] playing in the background. | After listening to SCP-[NUMBER], D-9954999 was asked to listen to four recordings and to notify test conductors when he heard SCP-[NUMBER]. Within seconds of hearing the third audio recording, (an instance of SCP-[NUMBER] playing at six percent volume with a recording of President John F. Kennedy giving his inaugural address overlayed onto it) D-9954999 immediately jumped up and shouted that he had heard it. After his withdrawal symptoms had subsided, D-9954999 was asked to do the same once more. Different recordings were used (with one still containing SCP-[NUMBER] playing at six percent volume) However, this time D-9954999 could not discern SCP-[NUMBER] from the rest of the audio. |
| #641 | D-8574037 & D-93859 | Two test subjects were required to listen to SCP-[NUMBER]. Test subjects were then required to live together until withdrawal symptoms had subsided. | After listening to SCP-[NUMBER], D-8574037 and D-93859 were locked in an observation chamber together. For the first seventeen hours of their confinement, the two refused to acknowledge each other and instead continuously pleaded with test conductors to allow them to listen to SCP-[NUMBER]. After eighteen hours, the two began whistling to each other nonstop. After twenty-two hours, the two had grown silent. After twenty-eight hours, D-93859 began attacking D-8574037 while D-8574037 sat in silence. By the time security officers managed to restrain D-93859, D-8574037 had already succumbed to her wounds. D-93859 later committed suicide. |
| #███ | Dr.██████ | Test was not authorized by site 16 administrators, therefore no test description is available. | After downloading an instance of SCP-[NUMBER] and taking it back to her living quarters, Dr.██████ attempted to decipher the nature of SCP-[NUMBER] by listening to it herself. The next day, she successfully broadcasted SCP-[NUMBER] across the entirety of site 16's intercom system. She was apprehended by security officers who had been required to take daily dosages of ████████-2, and was taken to holding site ███. Site 16 was later shut down and it's resident SCP's are still being tracked down at the time of writing. |
No further tests were conducted with SCP-[NUMBER], and a change in its object class from Euclid to Keter is still being debated. Site 16 was later relocated to ████████████.
