As of 5/12/03, no personnel is allowed to use SCP-XXXX. All instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will be brought to Site-45 for research All instances of SCP-XXXX-2 should be brought to site attention within 24 hours after sighting.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a flashlight about 6.5 inches in length. Body about 5 inches circumference, with the head at widest about 8 inches around. With a switch on the top that will turn it on and off along with a battery life of twelve (12) hours.
When SCP-XXXX is used to make shadow-puppets it will bring the shadow to life for example: If the user were to make a bunny out of his hands and place it in-front of SCP-XXXX the bunny made by the person will hop out of the light and onto the floor where it would behave like a normal bunny. These shadow animals should be referred to as SCP-XXXX-1 after 1 year has passed all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will fade away for unknown reasons. It should be known to all personal that SCP-XXXX-1 can manifest from other things being shined in-front of SCP-XXXX like a cardboard cut-out of an animal. SCP-XXXX-1 is incapable of hurting any form of life (See testing log XXXX-A for more details).
As of 5/12/03 SCP-XXXX has been shown to produce a second entity that will be known as SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-2 will normally look like the shadow animal or creature that was produced by SCP-XXXX but instead of acting like a normal animal SCP-XXXX-2 will attach itself to the user shadow and slowly eat it. During this process the user will experience high levels of anxiety and stress if SCP-XXXX-2 is successfully able to eat the user's shadow completely SCP-XXXX-2 will continue to follow the user around until they fall asleep where the user would then wake up in a sleep paralysis like state where SCP-XXXX-2 will slowly walk to the user and seem to drain the life force out of the user after biting them killing the user. SCP-XXXX-2 will then fade away like SCP-XXXX-1 after one (1) year has gone by.
Important!!!!: To stop SCP-XXXX-2 from completely eating the user's shadow the user or someone else should shine a normal flashlight onto SCP-XXXX-2 if SCP-XXXX-2 has already eaten the user's shadow then I'm afraid it's too late.
SCP-XXXX was recovered by MTF Mu-3 (aka "Highest Bidders") on 9/10/84 at one of Marshall, Carter and Dark Ltd's party's by Agent █████ (all other information on this recovery is classified level 4 and above.)
Note: Despite SCP-XXXX not being able to bring SCP shadow puppets to life all attempts at trying will result in a demotion to Class-D.
Addendum-XXXX-1: **Test's below are only aloud to be viewed by personal with level 2 clearance are higher anyone with a lower clearance level viewing these test's are to be terminated **
Test XXXX-A - Date1/1/01
Subject: D-XXXX-1
Procedure: Make a alligator from his hands and put in-front of SCP-XXXX.
Results: After two (2) minutes alligator shadow puppet came to life and jumped at D-XXXX-1 pinning him down and then tried to bite the subjects leg off but was unsuccessful (it should be noted that the alligator will now be referred to SCP-XXXX-1.) SCP-XXXX-1 looked confused as it tried again but again failed to.
Analysis: instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are not harmful but will still attack as if they were normal animals.
Test log XXXX-B - Date 2/2/02
Subject: D-XXXX-2
Procedure: Hold up a cardboard cut-out of a dragon into SCP-XXXX's light.
Results: [DATA EXPUNGED].
Analysis: SCP-XXXX is capable of creating mythical creatures but this will result in a total power-outage in every electronic in a 10 mile radius this caused the entire site to loose power. All other info is classified for 05 council viewing only.
Item #: SCP-Flashlight
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-Flashlight is to be contained in Locker 14 at Site-77 and stored without batteries inserted. All tests must be conducted in a secured and monitored testing room, regardless of which instances of SCP-Flashlight are under study.
Three deceased instances of SCP-Flashlight-2 may be kept frozen for study at one time, and can be exchanged for new instances every 30 days as needed. All other instances of SCP-Flashlight-2 are to be incinerated. If SCP-Flashlight-2 instances do not completely expire one minute after manifestation, they may be subject to termination via electrical shock or extreme physical trauma.
Description: SCP-Flashlight is a large toy flashlight, made of colorful plastic and and weighing 399.2 g. It has a wide lens and can produce up to 150 lumens on a full battery. The words, "Imagination Illumination! ® by Dr. Wondertainment" is printed on the battery case. It operates using four removable AA batteries.
When used with properly-charged batteries, the flashlight will animate recognizable "shadow puppets", labeled instances of SCP-Flashlight-1, that can be created by hand or more precisely via cutouts. Although not believed to be sentient, SCP-Flashlight seems to have some baseline awareness of the intent of the puppeteer, and can recognize several known animals, along with at least ██ animals not immediately recognizable. Once created, these shadows will move convincingly across the span of light created by SCP-Flashlight, and will last for roughly five minutes before dissipating. Instances of SCP-Flashlight-1 will interact with one another in a friendly and inoffensive manner (they will not hunt one another, they will not procreate, etc). A list of documented instances of SCP-Flashlight-1 can be found in Addenda-1.
Should the batteries begin to lose power and fail, SCP-Flashlight will instead produce instances of SCP-Flashlight-2. These instances are manifested physically from the projection surface, and appear to extremely literal translations of the projected shadows. SCP-Flashlight-2 instances are ubiquitously made up of fleshy skin resembling that of a human, complete with rudimentary muscles and bones. These instances, despite being biologically alive, expire shortly after their creation, as they do not appear to have mouths, respiratory systems, or other vital organs. While they do not appear to be actively hostile, they move rapidly and sporadically until expiration or termination toward any source of warmth, including that produced by humans and other living organisms.
While the conditions separating manifestations between the two different types of entities is known to be related to low battery power, researchers have been unable to identify a discrete switch point between instance type in wattage, luminosity, or other variable. Researchers interested in creating instances of SCP-Flashlight-2 can speak to the Head Researcher for pre-drained batteries confirmed to produce appropriate conditions for manifestation.
Addendum: [Optional additional paragraphs]
We can keep a record of communication and changes here. First thing first: we need to come up with a newish pitch to get this greenlighted.
12/4: Working on my first run at this draft based on the draft you've already written. It will have some significant differences from yours, which is fine. Once it's finished, we can look at both drafts and figure out the best from each, but my draft will still be drawing heavily on what you've already written. I think we'll need to do this step before we can decide on a good pitch, but luckily, this thing is relatively simple enough that getting the description and containment shouldn't take too long. I don't think the addenda will figure much into the pitch on this particular SCP.
Added a stylish header. It's a little squashed now on account of the tabs. We'll see if it evens out when we format this properly. There's several different options for headers available, but I personally prefer the simpler ones like the one above. If you have a preference for another, let me know.
