Ambrose Restaurants occupies a weird spot here at Waldon Studios and all the experiences of the reviewers so far have greatly varied, but there is one thing for sure. If you visit an Ambrose restaurant, you are in for a unique experience no matter what, you just got to get lucky to find one first…

Imagine my surprise then, when one opens right up under my nose within the Vatican! This alone was enough to pique my interest, however… what truly interested me about this is what was on offer, advertised as genuine divine cuts. Now, I assure you this isn't just a generic advertisement saying that they serve the best cuts of meat but in fact bona fide meat of an actual deity. In the past, I've openly expressed interest with the practice theophagy and this might be the only chance I'll ever get to try it, so of course I jumped onto the chance.


First Impressions

The trip to get to Ambrose was as uneventful as expected. The city is only really a bus stop away after all. As I get off the bus, the world suddenly dims as a thick layer of clouds move in and I stare up to it and softly hope that it won't rain. As I walk down the sidewalk I almost feel squeezed, with such buildings packed closely together.

After around 15 minutes of walking, I eventually come across the restaurant. Its building is not… the biggest thing of course, painted white with bricks, small glass windows, a glass door and from what I can tell a garden on the roof. It is particularly unintimidating so I step forward without a thought and pull open the door and walk in.

The initial feeling inside once I walk is comfort, coming into this restaurant I do not feel like a stranger nor a like a sore thumb but that I belong here and I am quickly seated at a table, given a menu, and left so I can decide my meal. After a cursory glance at the menu my eyes finally landed upon what I was looking for: the divine cut selections.

There were a few, not much and quite expensive but what can you say? This type of meat is hard to come by so it is expected. After a few more minutes, I decided what I'd order and once my waitress arrived I placed my order: The simple t-bone steak, cooked in a style similar to Bistecca alla Fiorentina. As the waitress left with my order, I sat waiting for my order, enjoying an appetizer of bread, simple but still nice.
