Item #: SCP-xxxx
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: The area immediately surrounding SCP-xxxx, designated Containment Area 456, is surrounded by a 3-meter high chain-link fence lined with barbed wire. Four guards are to patrol the area surrounding SCP-xxxx, while one is to be located at a nearby guard station utilizing security cameras placed around the building to alert the on-site guards of any potential intrusions. In the event of unauthorized entry into SCP-xxxx, the intruder(s) should be subdued using non-lethal means, such as tasers and tranquilizing darts, given appropriate amnestics, and removed from the premises. All intruders will be interrogated for information, including information on SCP-XXXX-B or the origin of SCP-XXXX-A.
SCP-XXXX-A should be monitored at all times. In the event that anomalous sound from SCP-XXXX-A escapes the performance hall, Response Team XXXX-1 ("14 Scores") will be dispatched to minimize any subsequent damage to nearby civilians, neutralize the threat with sound-capturing technology, and prevent the knowledge of SCP-XXXX-A's nighttime performances from spreading into the general public.
Description: SCP-xxxx is a fine arts museum located in Lidcombe, Australia with a sign labeling it as the “International Museum of Music, Lidcombe.” SCP-xxxx covers an area of approximately 3 km². During the hours of 5 AM and 11 PM, it demonstrates no anomalous properties other than extremely slow degradation of infrastructure and furnishings, including the exhibits.
Between the hours of 11 PM and 5 AM, however, the display of the full orchestra, referred to as SCP-xxxx-A, located in the east wing of the museum, begins to play classical works from the romantic and classical periods without the need for a conductor or performers. When a subject listens to a performance of SCP-xxxx-A, the subject describes the music performed as the most beautiful rendition of the piece that they have heard (See Experiment Log 1-x).
However, exactly 15 minutes after the subject is exposed to SCP-xxxx-A, they experience between 1 to 14 different anomalous effects depending on what sections of the orchestra the subject listened to. If confined to listening to one specific section or instrument from the orchestra, the subject will only experience one specific effect; however, if exposed to the full orchestra in its entirety, the subject will suffer 14 unique effects (See experiment log SCP-xxxx-A-1). Recordings of SCP-xxxx-A do not exhibit any anomalous effects.
Document xxxx-A:
Below is a table detailing the noted effects (numbered at 14 as of writing) of SCP-XXXX-A:
Recovery Log xxxx-A:
On ██/06/2008, the death of 14 musicians and the disappearance of 1 conductor were reported in the Lidcombe, Australia area. After Foundation investigators in the area deduced an anomalous cause of death and disappearance, Agent Ezekial "Zeke" Ramirez was sent to summarize and determine the resources needed for the situation, along with a disinformation team for preservation of normalcy purposes. Bearing in mind that the 15 victims had apparently been employed in the museum now designated as SCP-XXXX, Agent Zeke made reconnaissance into SCP-XXXX (formerly known as "International Museum of Music, Lidcombe") and discovered the anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX-A. At this time, he was exposed to a performance of SCP-XXXX-A, and fell victim to the harmful effects of exposure to the full orchestra within SCP-XXXX-A. In the fifteen minutes before his death, he was able to contact Site-63 and the disinformation team, informing them of the location and apparent nature of the anomaly. The deceased body of Agent Ramirez was found outside the museum, with the causes of death being third-degree burns and asphyxiation due to clarinet reed in the trachea.
Investigation into the anomalous effects of the other exhibitions and displays is currently underway.
Exploration Log xxxx-A:
After successful containment of SCP-xxxx, 3 D-class were ordered to enter SCP-xxxx at the time that Agent Ramirez was suspected to have deceased. The D-class were equipped with flashlights and headsets to communicate with area command. The D-class reported what appeared to be an orchestra that they reported to be playing the “…most beautiful and terrible music I’ve heard.” Area command instructed the D-class to approach the orchestra when the D class reported that the orchestra had no players. They stated, “the instruments are playing themselves.” Site command ordered the D-class to listen to the song until it had finished, which the D-class happily complied with. After approximately 2 hours of exposure to SCP-xxxx-A, the site command ordered the D-class to return from debriefing. The D-class reluctantly agreed and left. Approximately 5 minutes after returning to area command the D-class began exhibiting extremely anomalous traits and soon died because of severe burns and asphyxiation.
Experiment Log xxxx-A:
Because of the different effects the D-class exhibited, Dr.Richardson deduced that each section from SCP-xxxx-A could have effects on each subject. Area Director █████ approved the use of 14 D-class to test the effects of each section. Each night for 14 days, a D-class would be given noise-canceling headphones and ordered to enter, take an instrument to the west wing of the museum and listen to the music it played for 2 hours. The determined effects were recorded in Document SCP-xxxx-A.
