"We All Die Forever in the Azul Submarine"
submarine

SCP-XXXX during an attempted salvage operation. It has since returned to its previous location.

Item Number: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Containment Procedures:

SCP-XXXX is to be monitored by Provisional Site-186, built in San Cibrao Spain near the shallow shoal where SCP-XXXX came to rest. SCP-XXXX is to be monitored by at least two Foundation patrol ships or one Foundation submarine at all times.

Each morning at 8:36 AM, an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 is to be rescued by a rotating squad of MTF Gamma-6 ("Deep Feeders") members for training purposes.

After being rescued, Site-186 staff are to provide counseling and medical treatment for SCP-XXXX-1. Interviews with SCP-XXXX-1 from outside staff require the approval of the Site Director.

SCP-XXXX-2 instances are not to be rescued without approval from the Site Director. Any interviews with SCP-XXXX-2 are to be conducted only by research staff with level four clearance or higher.

The radio tower of SCP-XXXX is to be blocked to prevent any SOS signals from escaping.

Description:

SCP-XXXX is a sunken Agosta-90B class submarine designated the Valle Azul by the Spanish Navy.

The Spanish Navy lost contact with the Submarine in 2019 and all crew were officially listed as Missing in Action following a critical equipment failure.

SCP-XXXX-1 is Ensign Louis Calarone, a 26 year old radio operator for the Spanish Navy at the time of the submarine’s sinking.

SCP-XXXX-2 is a quasi-humanoid entity with pale skin and a lower body resembling that of a member of the Mesonychoteuthis squid genus. It refers to itself as a "siren".

SCP-XXXX is locked in a 24 hour temporal loop, which resets itself to just after the Valle Azul initially sunk each morning. Without intervention, the following chain of events occurs:

8:35 AM: SCP-XXXX-1 Sends out an SOS signal, reporting that the Valle Azul has suffered massive hull breaches.

8:48 AM: SCP-XXXX-2 dies from apparent internal organ damage due to being slowly crushed by the weight of a supply container in the cargo bay.

8:50 AM: Water completely fills the bridge of SCP-XXXX.

8:58 AM: SCP-XXXX-1 dies from exposure.

No matter how this chain of events is altered, all objects or beings removed from SCP-XXXX return to their original positions at 8:35 AM each morning. SCP-XXXX-1 has no recollection of the events of the previous cycles. SCP-XXXX-2 is not affected by this temporal amnesticization.

Interviewed: SCP-XXXX-1

Interviewer: Researcher Morales

Foreword: Researcher Morales impersonated a high ranking Spanish Naval officer to put the subject at ease during the interview. Interview was conducted in Spanish, translated here.

<Begin Log, AM>

Morales: Ensign Calarone, thank you for agreeing to a debriefing so soon after your initial recovery.

SCP-XXXX-1: Of course sir…

Morales: The CNI1 has been tight lipped about your vessel's mission. However after this incident I have been granted clearance to learn all about it. Why don't you tell us what happened out there son?

SCP-XXXX-1: Yes Sir! I'm afraid I don't know much sir… We were tasked by the CNI with traveling to the Os-Fallarones islands and sending out a radio message. I didn't know why though sir. To my knowledge there's no one there to receive it.

Morales: And what was the message?

SCP-XXXX-1: … "You know what we want, what do you want for it?"

Morales: That was all?

SCP-XXXX-1: Yes sir. A visiting CNI member… Agent Carter, I think, took the phone and seemed to be having a longer conversation of some kind, but… I did not know the language they were speaking sir.

Morales: And the crash?

SCP-XXXX-1: I'm afraid I don't know what caused it sir. We couldn't detect anything else in the area. Maybe sonar was acting up? I was hoping you might be able to give us some more answers. I don't know why, but when we were hit it felt… Strange.

Morales: Can you elaborate?

SCP-XXXX-1: It was like I got the bends while we were flung into the ceiling, everyone was crying out in pain… Except for Agent Carter sir. He held himself to the floor somehow and he barely flinched. He didn't look scared at all, just… dissapointed or something? I'm sorry sir, I'm probably not making any sense.

Morales: You're doing fine son, please continue.

SCP-XXXX-1: Well, after that I think we hit the seafloor and I blacked out. When I woke up no one else was moving. I tried to radio for help and… Well you know the rest sir.

<End Log>

Closing Statement: SCP-XXXX-1 was given quarters and told to rest up and report back the next morning. It returned to its pattern inside SCP-XXXX at 8:35 AM the next day with no memory of the conversation taking place.
No "Agent Carter" was listed on the manifest, nor does anyone matching his description appear among the bodies recovered.

Interviewed: SCP-XXXX-2

Interviewer: Researcher Morales

Foreword: SCP-XXXX-2 was rescued by MTF Gamma-6 ("Deep Feeders") after multiple "rehearsal" attempts over the course of several days. SCP-XXXX-2 was placed in a Seawater Aquarium after receiving medical treatment and was given an underwater microphone with which to communicate.

<Begin Log>

Morales: From interviewing the other surviving member of the Submarine you were found in, we can infer you are capable of understanding human speech. If you can understand, please respond.

SCP-XXXX-2:… No.

Morales: No?

<SCP-XXXX-2 is seen curling up in the corner of its tank in an approximation of the Foetal position>

SCP-XXXX-2: Thought it was safe to talk. Man shrouded in darkness had promise. Thought riches were mine… But it was watching. It is always watching. I will not speak its desire.

Morales: What do you mean by "it"?

SCP-XXXX-2: No say. Still watching. Didn't even kill… Just wanted suffering, suffering for trying to understand.

Morales: … But you know what it wants?

SCP-XXXX-2: No. Know means understand, no know… but I feel it. It's not hard for siren to feel wants, we need show treasures to those who seek them. We bring them to the rocks and feed…

<SCP-XXXX-2 shakes its head.>

SCP-XXXX-2: But it not want others to know what feeling is. It not simple sailor. It can punish me worse, much worse.

Morales: Worse than being crushed to death everyday?

SCP-XXXX-2: You lack imagination. I envy.

<End Log>

Closing Statement: SCP-XXXX-2 has been interviewed several times and has not given any more substantive information to Foundation staff.
Extensive biological notes are available on SCP-XXXX-2's physiology, but no anomalous properties were revealed by that appear to be associated with its physical form.

Forensic Accountant Fara Sontag's Note:
Though we've been able track the bribe payments to the Admiralty that lead to this mission, but the trail goes cold in London. Whoever set this up had serious connections.

Put the information together and I think we can all figure out who "Agent Carter" is and why he wasn't among the bodies. We couldn't possibly be lucky enough to watch him die in a deal gone wrong… but at least his market research fell through.
