Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is held in a Standard Humanoid Anomaly Containment Cell Type-S outfitted with a localized Xyank-Anastankos Constant Temporal Sink. Periodically and sporadically, personnel are assigned to enter SCP-XXXX's chamber and inform it that little to no time has passed since it was placed in containment. As an additional precaution, no clocks, watches, or other time-telling devices are permitted within the vicinity of SCP-XXXX's containment cell.

Description: SCP-XXX is a humanoid entity resembling a late medieval English messenger. SCP-XXXX possesses multiple growths resembling a tunic, cloak, trousers, stockings, and leather boots. Scans have determined that SCP-XXXX is comprised of mostly calcified chitin, while SCP-XXXX's face is composed of porcelain, giving the appearance of a mask. SCP-XXXX's entire body is covered in what appears to be tattoos either etched into chitin or carved into porcelain, written in an as-of-yet unidentified language consisting of mostly spiral symbols.

SCP-XXXX also possesses a metallic compartment similar to a cabinet located centrally on its torso. SCP-XXXX is capable of voluntarily opening and closing this compartment and placing or removing objects within the compartment. When opened, the abdominal cavity appears to have unlimited storage capacity. SCP-XXXX is capable of temporarily generating Class-A localized wormholes (see Addendum XXXX.1), but has not attempted to utilized this ability following containment.

SCP-XXXX is capable of speech in English, albeit with a noticeable French accent. SCP-XXXX has demonstrated limited intellect, and lacks logical reasoning skills, especially spatial and temporal recognition. Although it is prone to emotional outbursts, it carries a generally friendly disposition during interaction with personnel.

[BEGIN LOG]

(A circular aperture forms directly outside the Site-19 maximum security wing entrance gate. SCP-XXXX gingerly steps out and studies the area before addressing the active security operative, Agent James Lysander.)

SCP-XXXX: Pardon? Is this gatehouse of the Black Lord’s residence?

(The guard pauses, then lowers his gun.)

SCP-XXXX: You speak the King’s English, yes?

Lysander: Well…yes?

SCP-XXXX: Yes, yes. Where is he? The Black Lord, Wearer of the Anguished Mask?

Lysander: The…who?

SCP-XXXX: The Black Lord. He bears the Anguished Mask and relishes in tragedy and black bile?

(Lysander does not respond, and begins to approach the intercom.)

SCP-XXXX: Perhaps you are daft. No matter, I shall find another of his servants.

(SCP-XXXX walks back through the circular aperture, which closes behind him, before briefly reappearing through an identical circular aperture formed on the wall. SCP-XXXX steps sideways across the wall and appears to scratch his head in confusion, before turning to address the guard again.)

SCP-XXXX: Pardon, is this the gatehouse of the Black Lord’s residence?

(SCP-XXXX appears to squint.)

SCP-XXXX: Say, you appear quite similar to the daft one. Perchance, are you his blood?

Lysander: I think…didn’t you just…

(SCP-XXXX opens a compartment in its torso and removes a piece of parchment, then closes the compartment.)

(Lysander lowers gun and taps the intercom.)

Lysander: (To intercom) Hello? Yes, I think…um, well, something just teleported…yes, of course it’s anomalous. It can teleport.

(SCP-XXXX produces a sounds similar to clearing his throat.)

SCP-XXXX: The dimensional backwaters where the Black Lord, Wearer of the Anguished Mask, resides.

Lysander: (To intercom) Yes, and now it’s walking on the wall. And there’s also a cabinet in its chest.

SCP-XXXX: Pardon me, servant. It seems you may be preoccupied, but did you hear a word of what I just said? Or are you not fluent in the King’s English? Perhaps if I speak in-

Lysander: N-no, that’s quite alright. Umm…the Black Lord?

SCP-XXXX: If he be not here, I shall depart!

Lysander: Wait, wait! Yes. The Black Lord. Yes! The Black Lord, the Wearer of the Mask…the…ah…Anguished Mask, yes. Yes, he’s here. He’s expecting you. Yes, just wait a second.

SCP-XXXX: Truly? I am most honored!

(SCP-XXXX briefly claps in excitement, then stops, sitting on the ceiling.)

Lysander: (To intercom, whispering) Well, are you sending someone?

(SCP-XXXX taps his foot.)

Lysander: (To intercom, whispering) No, listen to me. There’s an anomaly, literally waiting to be contained, right here. Yes, a containment specialist.

SCP-XXX: Pardon me, servant, but how long is a second?

Lysander: (To SCP-XXXX) It’s…well, it’s soon. We will escort you to the Black Lord soon.

(Dr. Jean Hui enters the chamber, and directs Agent Lysander to restrain SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX begins talking rapidly in French, seemingly excited.)

SCP-XXXX: What an honor to bear a message for a Masked Lord! And to be entertained in his magnificent palace, attended to by one whole servant…or two, if I consider the daft one!

(Hui directs SCP-XXXX through the entrance to a temporary holding cell. SCP-XXXX appears to be smiling and excitedly bounces in its seat.)

Dr. Hui: Good day-

SCP-XXXX: And to you! I am Alastair the Courier.

Dr. Hui: Yes. Well. I am Dr. Hui. Now, I've been informed you carry a message for the, ah, Black Lord. He is preoccupied for the moment.

SCP-XXXX: I see, Hui the Doctor. It is no small matter, though perchance you should entertain me for a moment?

Dr. Hui: Yes, well. We must confirm that you have proper…authorization before permitting you to speak to the Black Lord.

SCP-XXXX: Of course! No matter, I understand the great concerns you must have about the safety of his Honor.

Dr. Hui: Yes. Now, if you’ll excuse my bluntness, but, a courier such as yourself must have been sent by someone, yes?

SCP-XXXX: Ah, you ask of my master? I was sent by the Ambassador of the King himself.

Dr. Hui: Sorry, who? I didn't quite catch that.

SCP-XXXX: The Ambassador of the Hanged King's Court in Alagadda, surely you know him?

Dr. Hui: I’m sorry, I can’t hear what you’re saying. Can you please speak up?

(SCP-XXXX remains silent for a moment.)

SCP-XXXX: Perhaps it is best for you to ask other questions. You do not seem to be listening.

Dr. Hui: Well, you only need to speak louder-

SCP-XXXX: (Shouting) It matters not how loudly I speak if your ears be closed. I cannot tolerate this…impudence from a servant of the master I have yet to meet!

Dr. Hui: Well…fine, then. I do have other questions. How did you arrive?

SCP-XXXX: I came in a carriage, as is proper. What do you imagine?

Dr. Hui: But how did you know where to come, to find the Black Lord?

(SCP-XXXX appears agitated.)

SCP-XXXX: Why, it is whispered to me, of course! Have you no thoughts to lead your words?

(Dr. Hui remains silent for a moment.)

SCP-XXXX: Now, I grow weary of your questioning. If you may permit me to submit a few inquiries of my own-

Dr. Hui: Actually, I have a few more-

(SCP-XXXX proceeds to speak over Dr. Hui.)

SCP-XXXX: How do you survive in these savage lands?

(Dr. Hui blinks.)

Dr. Hiu: Well…we do as we do, I suppose. Do you consider us savages?

SCP-XXXX: Not quite so, but the servants of the Black Lord must be among the most refined savages of all.

(Dr. Hui remains silent.)

Dr. Hui: Well…thank you for your time…hmm. The Lord will be with you in a second.

SCP-XXXX: Yes, Hui the Doctor, but how long is a second?
