Special Containment Procedures: The general location in which SCP-XXXX has been reported is put under constant lockdown, which will expire when SCP-XXXX is recovered. Drones are to be stationed at this area constantly to record any sightings of SCP-XXXX.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a large predatory organism that has been spotted in many locations across the Eastern coast of the United States. SCP-XXXX's general appearance is unknown, however it has been described by multiple sources to be a very tall, (somewhere around 45m) quadruped, hairless, and pale organism with very long, gangly legs. It has also been described to share several similarities with both bears and crocodiles. SCP-XXXX is not a myth, as it has been spotted on multiple occasions.
SCP-XXXX is not particularly agile, however it compensates by being very quiet and quick, almost unnoticeable until seen. Autopsies of victims of SCP-XXXX shows that it typically attacks with a quick jab through the abdomen, being powerful enough to punch through an entire human torso. Its diet is unknown, however it is assumed that it preys on medium-to-large species such as deers, bears, and humans.
Evidence suggests that there may be more than 1 instance of SCP-XXXX.
Further information on SCP-XXXX is currently unknown.
Addendum SCP-XXXX-01: A recovery mission is currently being planned to find and capture SCP-XXXX and put it into containment for further study.

Special Containment Procedures: Due to the nature of SCP-XXXX, no containment is possible at this time. The spread of SCP-XXXX is impossible to halt with current methods, so SCP-XXXX is to be monitored closely via drones. All personnel who are viewing SCP-XXXX must be at least 50 kilometers away from the perimeter of SCP-XXXX's influence.
Civilians approaching the territory of SCP-XXXX are to be directed to an area that is a considerable distance away from the effects of SCP-XXXX. If civilians are not compliant, they are to be immediately terminated. Any photographs depicting an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be immediately retrieved and incinerated, and the photographer is to be faced with disciplinary action via court of law.
The immediate danger when testing with SCP-XXXX is extremely high, therefore testing is not permitted at any time with SCP-XXXX or any of its elements. Keep in mind of the individual instance's dangers and how to avoid them. (See Log of Anomalous SCP-XXXX-1)
The nature of SCP-XXXX is a threat to the human race in its current state and could possibly restructure the way humans live. (See Addendum SCP-XXXX-01) As such, SCP-XXXX's existence and basic information have been declassified to the public, however advanced and in-depth knowledge regarding SCP-XXXX is still classified to authorized ranks within the Foundation.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an anomalous phenomenon currently affecting a circular 74km by 74km area centralized in upstate New York. The size of this area seems to be growing at an exponential rate from the exact center of SCP-XXXX, gaining ground of about 4-62 kilometers every year. This suggests that SCP-XXXX has been around for 10-12 years at the time of writing this document. Within this area of effect, every 0.5 meters, a completely black and transparent hand of variable form (hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-1) will periodically sprout out of the ground, typically grasping at the air sporadically and in random intervals. SCP-XXXX-1 instances do not collide with solid or liquid matter.
Whenever a biological lifeform is within the range (around 1.3m) of SCP-XXXX-1, the hand will begin growing sharp, nail like features at the end of each finger, typically taking around 3-5 seconds for full growth. SCP-XXXX-1 have the ability to communicate directly with humans via sign language, and their tone is often described as hostile. SCP-XXXX-1 have no means of locomotion, and cannot extend their reach any farther than their defined range. SCP-XXXX-1 will, when in range, proceed to assault the victim's body, attempting to slash the target. Once contact is made, any biological matter will cease to exist within this universe, disappearing in a black mist after initial contact.
Alternatively, SCP-XXXX-1 instances may grab the victim at the ankle or wrist with an extremely tight grip. When contact is made, the victim's form is turned into features similar to SCP-XXXX-1, and are then dragged underground near-instantly. No victims have ever been recovered following this event.
The black mist (hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-2) is a self-replicating mist formed of an unknown element that will cease to replicate after reaching a total volume of 10m3. When contact is made with biological material, the matter will proceed to corrode very quickly, consistent with the corrosion of hydrofluoric acid. If any biological lifeform views an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 (either physically or through photographs) within a range of 50km from the perimeter of SCP-XXXX, they will begin to turn into a cloud of SCP-XXXX-2, having fully turned after around 5-10 minutes of constant exposure.
SCP-XXXX-1 instances are able unable to be terminated by any known method.

Addendum SCP-XXXX-01: O5-4 has proposed a change of human nature, suggesting that all human buildings and residences are raised off of the ground to avoid SCP-XXXX's effects. This has been widely accepted throughout the O5 Council, and efforts to carry this revision out to the general population will occur once the Foundation have received the proper resources to do so.
Addendum SCP-XXXX-02: On 9/27/2020, SCP-XXXX-1-4301 was seen on-camera communicating with a drone using sign language. The message has been successfully interpreted by Dr. Kaiye, who has prior experience with sign language.
