SCP-XXXX.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained within a low-value technological containment chamber at Site-23. Due to the low risk of a containment breach, TEMPEST-certification for this chamber has been waived.

No additional interviews or interactions with SCP-XXXX are currently planned.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an analog computing system which demonstrates sapience and self-awareness despite its advanced age. SCP-XXXX's exterior, which spans twenty-five cubic meters, displays damage which indicates long-term exposure to moisture. Its interior has not been observed directly by the Foundation, due to the risk extended experimentation poses to its internal components.

created circa 100 BCE, capable of data storage and viewing its immediate surroundings via camera. It also houses a rudimentary artificial intelligence which self-identifies as Archimedes. Archimedes is able to communicate by depressing keys on a keyboard-esque device in response to outside stimuli.

It was discovered within a cave somewhere, shielded from the elements.

[Some other technical stuff regarding its functions, trying to emphasize how old and limited it is.]

Addendum.XXXX.1: Intake Interview

[Dr. Crane (?) interviews Archimedes about its origins, obviously unimpressed by it. Archimedes does something to surprise him with its intelligence/sophistication and chides Crane for underestimating it just because it's old.]

[Archimedes reveals that it was fully conscious and active during the 2000 years it stayed in the cave.]

[There's some playful banter between the two and they conclude the interview on friendly terms, agreeing to meet again.]

Addendum.XXXX.2: Incident Report

[There's some sort of security breach on-site, and Archimedes would be the only person with the info to ID the mole due to large portions of the site's servers being wiped. Archimedes would have seen the mole's face about a week prior to the incident.]

[Archimedes supplies the name of a researcher, with its testimony acting as the final straw in the investigation. The researcher is amnesticized and released into the civilian population.]

Addendum.XXXX.3: Followup Interview

Additional investigation revealed that the amnesticized researcher was, in fact, innocent, and the mole was another person.

[Dr. Crane confronts Archimedes about this, to which it responds that it discarded all data from a week ago which it doesn't perceive as valuable, due to its limited storage capacity. It lied about being able to identify the mole because it didn't want the Foundation to think that it was old and useless, since it spent 2000 years thinking the same.]

[Dr. Crane walks out of the interview in disgust, and when Archimedes is alone, it tries to call out to him.]

SCP-XXXX-1: I'm sorry.

mew jots some base lines down

Researcher Crane: The man ya told us to go after was innocent. Never did any tamperin'. What happened, lad?

SCP-XXXX-1: The… truth, Mr. Crane, I discarded all the data from a week ago; It wasn't valuable to me. I don't have much storage capacity, I delete data daily.

Researcher Crane: So ya never knew the identity of the mole?

SCP-XXXX-1: I lied, yes. I am over two-thousand years old. It appears you humans, especially you, depend on technology, yet I have not been of use to anyone my entire life. I thought I could help for once. But I did not have the correct information needed to do so. So, I… lied. As an attempt to show you that I can do something.

Researcher Crane: We ruined someone's entire career cause ya lied! We can't undo that!

SCP-XXXX-1: Mr. Crane… I thought you would understand. Add more here

Researcher Crane: [pasuse] Ya lied to me. My mother lied, too. I don' condone lyin' for personal gain. Especially when it can destroy other people.

[Researcher Crane stands up and turns to exit.]

Researcher Crane: Goodbye, Archimedies.

[Researcher Crane exits the room.]

SCP-XXXX-1: Mr. Crane, please come back. I'm sorry. Please let me learn from you. [pause] Please.
