Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is unable to be contained. Discussion on amnesticization of witnesses is currently underway.

Webcrawler [Beastals] is programmed to check various popular social media sites and public fora for any forms of media mentioning experiences that match known descriptions of SCP-XXXX events. Flagged posts are automatically removed from public view and reported to a [Site Director] of the Foundation Site nearest to the source of the post, determined by the poster’s IP-address. Said [Site Director] is to determine whether the best course of action is to interview and amnesticize the poster, or to not pursue the flagged post at all.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an anomalous phenomenon. So far, all those affected have experienced it only once. Even with company present, no one but the affected individual will experience SCP-XXXX as it occurs. Individuals affected by SCP-XXXX will henceforth be categorized as instances of SCP-XXXX-1.

An SCP-XXXX experience is characterized by the following consistent elements:

1. An adult person notices one or more white-colored individuals of the species Ectopistes migratorius¹, at which point said person is considered to have become SCP-XXXX-1.
2. The Ectopistes migratorius individual(s) will direct SCP-XXXX-1’s gaze to the largest open space in the direct vicinity by walking or flying towards it.
3. In this space, SCP-XXXX-1 will see an individual of a now-extinct animal species. The particular species of animal differs per instance of SCP-XXXX, but are known to have included [list of animals, listed by their Latin name and with regular English denomination as a footnote]. The Ectopistes migratorius individual(s) will usually perch on top of or nearby the animal that has appeared in the clearing.
4. SCP-XXXX-1 will begin to experience overwhelming negative emotions (usually described as sadness and/or guilt), often to the point of physical illness. SCP-XXXX-1 instances tend to report that the creatures encountered during the experience somehow communicated an expression of judgement or disappointment towards them, and that this was the trigger for their intense feelings².
5. As the SCP-XXXX event is taking place, SCP-XXXX-1 will no longer be aware of its surroundings, and will not respond to any attempt at communication. Any other individuals present will see SCP-XXXX-1 staring off as if lost in thought, but will neither perceive the creatures SCP-XXXX-1 does, nor experience the extreme feelings that follow.
6. The animals perceived by SCP-XXXX-1 will stand or sit in one place and look in SCP-XXXX-1’s direction. After some time has passed (SCP-XXXX-1 instances will report experiences that last anywhere between 2 minutes and 5 hours, but witnesses present during the SCP-XXXX event that were not affected usually report SCP-XXXX-1’s daydream-like state to last somewhere between a few seconds and one minute), SCP-XXXX-1 will notice that the animals have disappeared while they were not looking, and the SCP-XXXX experience will end. The feelings experienced by SCP-XXXX-1 remain, and usually lead to a drastic personal change in worldview.

It is currently thought to be impossible to predict who SCP-XXXX will affect and when. As such, the anomaly cannot be contained or studied effectively. Addendum XXXX-A features thorough documentation of important aspects of all SCP-XXXX events known to the Foundation so far.

After experiencing SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-1a immediately went home and started using his political position to get laws in place protecting wild animals from being hunted, privately owned, or used in circuses. He also started volunteering as a local park ranger. SCP-XXXX-1a spoke freely of his SCP-XXXX experience in press, which has mostly been lost to time. No one was amesticized at the time, but where applicable, details about SCP-XXXX-1a's experience have been scrubbed from historic records, including witness accounts from individuals that saw SCP-XXXX-1a experiencing SCP-XXXX.
01-05-1969	SCP-XXXX-1b, Mirek Górski, Butcher	[location], Poland, behind SCP-XXXX-1b's shop after a work day.	A large black bull, based on context clues most likely Bos primigenius4.	After experiencing SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-1b became a vegetarian, closed his butchery, and told his friends and family about the experience. A few years later SCP-XXXX-1b went fully vegan. SCP-XXXX-1b was never amnesticized, but the aforementioned friends and family were.
21-10-1983	SCP-XXXX-1c, Andrian Ivanov, Car salesman	[Location], Russia, during a snow storm, preparing to shoot a mother bear and cub that were wandering around his property.	A thick-coated kind of elephant; SCP-XXXX-1c's various descriptions match that of a Mammuthus primigenius5.	SCP-XXXX-1c immediately put his firearm back inside after the experience, and waited for the bears to leave by themselves [after throwing them some cabbages from a compost heap in his garden - interview-only?]. At the soonest opportunity, he sold his firearm and started protesting the hunting of wild animals for any reason. He also started volunteering at a wild animal shelter nearby. In 2017, he disposed of all cars in his possession, and started selling and investing in electric cars only. SCP-XXXX-1c was never amnesticized. He was interviewed by the foundation on [DATE], see Addendum XXXX-B.
03-11-1998	SCP-XXXX-1d, Oliver Smith, low-ranking salesman at a party utensils distributor	[location], Australia, at an otherwise empty parking lot, after having just illegally purchased a pair of crocodile skin boots.	A large lizard; during Foundation interviews SCP-XXXX-1d consistently selected artistic depictions of Varanus priscus6 as a near-perfect match for the creature he saw.	After his experience, SCP-XXXX-1d threw out the boots, quit his current job and founded a no-profit wildlife sanctuary instead. In 2003, he received a veterinary degree. SCP-XXXX-1d occasionally informs local government officials on environmental matters. He has also written a book about his experience, of which the Foundation is to intercept all editions before they are printed to insert a notice that the events described within it are fictional. SCP-XXXX-1d has not yet been amnesticized, but an application for permission to do so is currently pending.
05-05-2009	SCP-XXXX-1e, Amir Abdul, Logger	[location], Java, Indonesia, outside SCP-XXXX-1e's house early in the morning.	A small tiger, highly likely Panthera tigris sondaica7.	After experiencing SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-1e quit his logging job and started lobbying against the deforestation of the Indonesian and specifically Javan rainforests. SCP-XXXX-1e has not been amnesticized as of this writing. His wife witnessed the SCP-XXXX occurrence, and was amesticized after being questioned.
19-01-2021	SCP-XXXX-1F, Samira Anand, Runway model	[location], United States of America, in SCP-XXXX-1f's dressing room before a show.	A species of parakeet, based on description believed to be Conuropsis carolinensis8.	After experiencing SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-1f started publicly boycotting fashion brands known to use real animal feathers, hides, or fur, as well as make-up brands that test on animals. SCP-XXXX-1f also talked about her SCP-XXXX experience in a fashion magazine. Most printed instances of the magazine are currently in possession of the Foundation. As of this writing, SCP-XXXX-1f has not been amnesticized, but is being closely monitored. Every other individual that witnessed SCP-XXXX-1f experiencing SCP-XXXX was questioned and amnesticized.
