Saturn.jpg

The Northern Pole of Saturn. SCP-XXXX is located underneath this formation.

Special Containment Procedures: The continued existence of Human Society, set cultural values, and set, consistent, daily traditions or 'rituals' on SCP-XXXX contains SCP-XXXX-1.1

Sky

Image taken from the Surface of SCP-XXXX.

Foundation efforts are to unobtrusively alter SCP-XXXX politically and culturally via several designated methods. The end goal of these methods is to continue the theory of cultural values currently espoused by SCP-XXXX citizens to such a point that SCP-XXXX-1 can be contained otherwise.

Methods of alteration include, but are not limited to -

  • The purposeful obstruction of democratic institutions on SCP-XXXX via the rigging of elections towards more politically conservative individuals.
  • The active information suppression of those who posit that action against the cultural norms of SCP-XXXX is necessary for freedom.
  • Foundation researchers are to pose as philosophers and theologians in SCP-XXXX, positing extreme religious fundamentalism.

For more information on the Required Cultural Practices for the containment of SCP-XXXX-1, see Addenda.

Any Civilian discovery of SCP-XXXX-1 or SCP-XXXX is, if possible, to be passed off as a hoax or natural phenomenon. Otherwise, amnestic treatment is to be used on those who discover the anomaly.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a habitable exoplanet 350 km underneath a persistent, hexagon-shaped, cloud pattern on Saturn's North Pole. SCP-XXXX is physically identical to earth, despite wildly different conditions of formation, and incurs no gravitational or atmospheric effect on the surface of Saturn. The planet hovers consistently within a set of powerful wind-storms, and a magnetic anomaly surrounding the exo-planet blocks the strong winds on Saturn from affecting the surface.

SCP-XXXX is inhabited by an estimated 3.5 billion members of the genus homo sapiens, though non-anomalously distinct enough to appear as an indeterminate ethnicity. These humans follow a unified religion, cultural practices and language, though existing over 58 countries. It is estimated that 99.99% of humans on SCP-XXXX follow this culture exactly, making SCP-XXXX the most culturally homogenous human society in existence. This culture is highly religious, following the doctrines of a religion named Ersintê dogmatically; ostracising and in some cases legally punishing individuals who do not perform specific monotonous tasks and formalities, and suppressing the free speech of so-called 'counter-cultural' movements.

A description of SCP-XXXX-1 and -2 can be found below.

  • Addendum XXXX.1 - Discovery

In 1993 foundation researcher Dr Mikkel Hammond noticed a recurrent pattern on the southern regions of the sun, which moved erratically and had no physical explanation. After 3 months of observation using a false-colour imaging system, a paper was published internally showing his findings. It was organised for the HELIOS Solar Probe to pass by the effected regions in 1996 in order to view the anomaly and determine what effects - if any - it had. Due to the relative size of the anomaly to the sun, maintenance attaching a high-powered infrared camera was scheduled and completed in 1995.

Sun

The sun, as seen from SCP-XXXX.

On the 5th of January 1996 secondary thrusters were fired on the probe, which put the probe on a Polar Orbit. Given the probes large speed, it had reached the southern region of the Sun by the 17th and began to move towards SCP-XXXX-1. On the 18th of January, cameras were started and ground control began to attempt contact with the anomaly. The resultant recording is transcribed below.

BEGIN LOG 3:18:34PM

3:18:37: Probe is located 68 earth radii from the surface of the sun. Anomaly is 190 earth radii from the probe.

Command Unit 03 | 3:18:39: Manuevering now. The anomaly should be in view in T-minus uhh… 3 minutes.

Command Unit Head | 3:18:54: Confirmed. Please proceed.

3:18:55 - 3:21:01: Probe moves towards anomaly with no abnormalities.

3:21:02: Anomaly becomes visible.

Command Unit 03 | 3:21:15 We have visual. Significant temperature blip in place of the anomaly. Possible thermodynamic violations.

Command Unit Head | 3:21:32 Confirmed. I can see it too.

3:21:45: Tempurature on anomaly begins to rise, eventually overtaking the surrounding area.

Command Unit Head | 3:22:02 Tempurature on blip rising. 03, return vessel.

3:22:13 Visual feed shows static.

Command Unit 03 | 3:22:23 Fuck! what happened? Command, We've lost [STATIC]

3:22:24 A bubbling sound is heard, followed by several screams, coughing, static and the twisting of metal. The audio feed cuts out.

END LOG 3:22:25

At 3:22:25 an automatic distress signal was sent from the Helios Command Center to a nearby administrative site after the operating system detected a sharp increase in temperature, followed by the near-simultaneous loss of all systems.

REQUESTING ASSISTANCE: AUTOMATED MESSAGE

This is an automated message from SCPF Helios Command Center to Site 19 Admin.

Reporting unexplained electrical failure -
3:22:25PM - FULL SITE

TIMELINE:

0000s Tempurature - 34C, Pressure - 1.01 atmospheres, Communications - Activive

0001s Tempurature - 89C, Pressure - 3.42 Atmospheres, Communications - Damaged

0002s Tempurature - 504C, Pressure - 8.66 Atmospheres, Communications - Inactive.

NO FURTHER INFORMATION AVAILABLE

A worker in the Site 19 administrative block quickly acknowledged the message and believed the electrical systems may have overheated from a mundane set of events. The worker wrote a small note at 3:23:12 describing the incident and attempted to confirm the events posited by the warning.

At 3:23:24 the worker called the Check-in Desk of the Helios Command Center, to no response. He inputted the number again at 3:23:39, again to no response. Following this, the worker contacted his superior, who decided to send an investigation team. The contact timeline from this team is shown below.

3:25:11 | Investigation team begins to move from nearby Site-08. Estimated 11.4km from Helios Command Centre.

3:27:11 | Team begins to report a thick smoke covering most of the road. 7.3km from Helios Command Centre.

3:31:15 | Within 3km of the centre. Several thick odours are reported, including that of burnt rubber, hair, plastic, and skin. Smoke becomes too thick to accurately navigate.

3:32:38 | Investigation team arrives on-site, finding it in an advanced state of disrepair. The area around the centre is shown to be covered in a thin layer of ash and char, with several melted cars and poles also spotted. The centre itself is highly contorted and partially collapsed. The corpse of an unidentified staff member is found by the team, which appears as an irregular charred structure. The investigation team contacts command and requests backup and enters the structure

3:33:42 | Backup team is sent. The original team arrives within the command room, which is partially melted. No corpses are visible, but the silhouettes of several bodies are seen in ash. The team continues the investigation and finds 76 other bodies.

In the subsequent investigations, it was found that 223 individuals had died in the incident. The most common cause of death was suffocation from large amounts of ash that wiped through the buildings, but all individuals outside the structure where instantly killed from the heat. SCP-XXXX-1 was labelled as a Keter class anomaly following the results of the investigation.

SCP-XXXX-2 was discovered in 1994 following a sudden cuil drop around SCP-XXXX-1, which did not affect the entity. The source of the drop was located, and SCP-XXXX-2 was identified as a disparate anomaly. SCP-XXXX itself was identified 3 months later due to an increased level of foundation activity around Saturn. Due to discoveries within SCP-XXXX, all three anomalies were given the SCP-XXXX designation.

  • Addendum XXXX.2 - Mythological ties between SCP-XXXX and related anomalies.

The main religious organisation of SCP-XXXX is known as the 'Esna', which acts as both a moral and governmental authority over its citizens. Another, less supported religion is present, designated 'Ethna'. While both religions have almost identical cosmologies, they disagree on which entity they should worship, with Esnæ7 believing in the worship of SCP-XXXX-2, and Ethnæ8 supporting SCP-XXXX-1.

The holy book of the Esnæ (The Enisæ) is identical to that of the Ethnæ (The Cernün) except for the inclusion of several chapters near the end, discussing the apparent prophesied return of 'Essanor'. While the Enisæ is by no means historically accurate, several major historical facts are presented within the book, which has been mostly supported by other reliable sources. An excerpt from the Esinæ is translated into English below.

ENISÆ - BOOK 1 'ILKINTÂ'

1

It is said that in times of old, the first man Adam el Asem's kingdom fell to waste, and waves of horror and fury scorched the lands of En-airibel9 to ash and blood.1 The screaming masses ran from the City of the first fathers and hid in the dark pits and many fled into the bowels of great beasts for safety.2A sacred line of man, Archon10: their father 'Noah', their wife 'Anastasia I', and three sons fled too, returning to an expansive cave carved by the Titans of the south-sea.3 It is said that the line was once great, running a lucrative political role in the City of the first fathers, which they called 'Audaupopodopolis', but as the city fell to waste and war they were killed.4 This situation drew pity from a sky-goddess, Essanor, and so, as the sacred line of the Archon laid dying in the caves of what is called 'Old Europ', the great winged beast built a new home for them, protected by gas and identical in beauty to the old planet.5

Essanor called to the house of Archon and instructed them to build a great sky-boat to find their home.6 "The house of Archon shall rise to a new realm" It said, "For they are too sacred to die in human wars." 7 "I speak to you now, build a great vessel with my knowledge, and ascend to my new garden. Bring all who will follow you, and save this world from its destruction." 8

//The construction of the great vessel christened the 'Monos' was a brilliant ordeal.9 As the cities of En-airibel where ruined
