Gummy_Dragon: I have a tale idea. As the first creature emerges, the weather gets really weird. One of the Overssers heads out for a coffee break, and they encounter a representative from the GOC, who tells them about the Black Box.

DOCUMENT1Object (entity) SCP-DOOM-1 and -2: Categorized as one SCP both are trying to get to SCP-DOOM-3. If one gets to it the other one won't be able to. Neither have bad intentions on using SCP-DOOM-3, but either using it will lead to the apocalypse scenario mentioned below. Both constantly manage to escape containment despite constant effort.

DOCUMENT2: Object SCP-DOOM-3 - an object first detected by GOC - they have been unable to destroy it. It is an object with its exact size not known, but it is smaller than a sphere with a 1km radius - for its main known anomalous property is that there is a defence (offence?) around it that does not allow anything outside of the sphere to observe inside the sphere, record anything inside the sphere or remember anything from inside of it. Same way around - anyone/ anything inside loses all data from/about outside the sphere. The Foundation is thus unable to make successful expedition inside - the moment a team enters they forget why they entered - they cannot be contacted and The Foundation is forced to trust their natural instinct to explore, reach the center, get whatever is there if possible AND leave the sphere if possible (that is if the sphere doesn't move with the object).

It is known that tempering with the object can, if not destroy everything then render it almost, if not completely unusable - say everything turns into a memetic/antimemetic

DOCUMENT3: a Tale of a tired Overseer going for a coffee, noticing snow in july and meeting a member of GOC, telling her more about SCP-DOOM-3 and GOC's unsuccessful attempt to destroy it.

magnadeus: There'll probably need to be some sort of justification for that. The second the public catches wind of snow in July, the Foundation will have already begun investigating.

Gummy_Dragon: They do start investigating, but make no headway. The Overseer wants a fucking break, so goes to get coffee, the GOC are able to find her and share notes.

SCP-DOOM-3 can cause a

magnadeus: Two proposals for what the ϰ-class scenario actually is/what it entails: a deconstruction scenario, wherein fundamental scientific principles are universally subverted, or a scenario in which a reality bender is able to surpass any kind of neutralizing technology and can directly affect reality (rogue god, basically). Not particularly good suggestions, but we should probably start thinking about that.

FoldingPapers: While not bad ideas both sound somewhat like a small alteraion of the CK-Class Reality reconstruction scenario. On top of that DOOM-3 is, at least for now more of an antimemetic thing. perhaps it's activation cat make everything an antimemetic and thus making any form of existence pretty much impossible - you can't know where you are, what you are, you can't know anything from after that activation point. So, the ϰ-Class scenario can be a Mass Scale Perception Deletion or something like that.

FoldingPapers: EDIT: because that explanation was kinda messy here's an attempt at a better one - anything from inside can't see anything from outside the DOOM-3 defence. Now put a small sphere like that around everyone's face - they can't see the outside world. That's what I mean

Gummy_Dragon: You mean like when you use a cell phone? Maybe we should have done an iK-Class Everybody's-on-Their -Stupid-Phones Scenario.

magnadeus: So an idea I came up with is that these two could be ancient entities with the goal of "setting things right," citing a Cohle-like ideal that sentience was a mistake and that thinking beings are defying the natural law. But instead of an MK-class scenario where human consciousness is erased, they believe in punishing humanity for their free will, and so they cause the endless torture that is the ϰ-class scenario. Thus their motivation for using the blackbox, as a method of enacting their punishment.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3753 is to be kept at a large anomalous entity containment cell in the northern wing of Site-37. Access to the cell is to be approved by a researcher level 3 or above. The cell is to be cleaned biweekly, with SCP-3753 being moved to a temporary cell during cleaning

Revised Special Containment Procedures: After a series of Containment Breaches the Special Containment Procedures for SCP-3753 have been revised. SCP-3753 has been moved to Provisional Site-334, a previously unused containment site around 20 km² in area, that has been adapted for Procedure 742-Erebus meant to repeatedly re-contain it. A 150 m corridor 200 meters below ground is the only entrance to SCP-3753's cell near the center of Site-334. In case of a Containment Breach Task Force Eta-10 "See No Evil" is to take positions and prepare to begin Procedure 742-Erebus before SCP-3753 has left the corridor.

Description: Due to SCP-3753's anomalous effect it cannot be perceived in its entirety - a single observer is only able to distinguish a single feature of SCP-3753 with any further details appearing blurred and indistinct. Research has so far determined the following:

There is a white, teardrop shaped Carapace at the front. Its usage is currently not known

SCP-3753 has an unknown number of eyes, although the exact amount it posses are not yet known. Interviews have given answers varying between 1 and "many, many eyes"

Description:
Artifact is an unknown object, inferred to be within a circular area situated near Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The area has a radius of approximately 1km, and yields memory-affecting and perception-altering properties. These properties have two theorized purposes: that the human brain is unable to perceive or recall the specific information that lies within the field, or that an entity within the area is able to purposefully erase human memories. The second theory is considered unlikely, as the field has remained static since first observation. Structures outside the area show signs of wear, with one building (labelled Ebbinghaus-Cnawan) containing information further supporting the existence of an entity within the area.

Rules of Engagement:
UTE-9839-Templus-Ebbinghaus is interminable through common explosives or thaumaturgical munitions. UTE-9839-Templum-Ebbinghaus "The Quiet Zone"

Description:
Artefact is an unknown object, inferred to be within a 1km radial area situated near Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The area has been designated a Zone of Alienation by the Romanian government (Zone-622), and is so far understood to inflict perception-alteration properties to individuals within its area.

The exact mechanics of the perception-alteration effect of the zone are unclear, however individuals affected by these properties express similar effects after exit from the zone, which include:

Migraine(s) (lasting several days)
Insomnia
Early onset of a comatose state
Loss of speech/memory
Partial loss of smell/taste

Symptoms share resemblance to retrograde amnesia, suggesting that the zone inflicts these described properties in a method similar to amnestic agents. It is hypothesised that these effects are induced through resonance, and the use of sound-waves to disrupt or entirely block neurological processes while within the zone. This would explain the massive disruption in speech and weakening of minor senses.

These properties have two theorised purposes: to prevent human interaction with or understanding of an object within the zone (which is understood to exist), or as a form of protection. It is expected that the non-described object within the zone (UTE-9839-Templus-Ebbinghaus) is immobile, as the field has remained static since first observation.

Structures observed outside the zone are deteriorated and abandonned, with one building (labelled Ebbinghaus-Cnawan) containing information supporting the existence of an entity within the area. (See reports).

History

UTE-9839 was first brought to the attention of the GOC following the unexplained loss of Maria Balan and Jakob Cutov. Further investigation revealed the loss and re-discovery of over 50 individuals, unable to disclose what had occurred within the days they were missing.

NOTEABLE TIMELINE

Chronic alcoholic and suffering from heroine abuse, originally an immigrant from Poland. Few relatives or contacts, so poor attention paid to her disappearance. Police report assumed her loss of memory and inability to describe her disappearance assumed to be due to heroin overdose.

[Paule Aldulescu] Declared missing person: [8/12/16] | Found: [20/12/16]

Wildlife reserve worker. Missing while counting local bear population within Zone-622. Body recovered, parts of the disfigured head and spinal cord. A dead adult grizzly was found nearby, presumed to have expired from bloodloss and extensive gunshot trauma. Necropsy of the animal revealed human body parts inside the stomach, such as parts of Mr. Aldulescu's hand still with his wristwatch attached. It is expected his disorientation after entering Zone-622 led to an accidental mauling.

This suggests that the bear was capable of attacking Mr. Aldulescu, which could prove that the effects of Zone-622 are exhibited only on human subjects.

[Ryke Cioban/Davide Cioban] Declared missing person(s): [1/1/17]

Brothers Ryke (11 years) and Davide (12 years) Cioban were found drowned in a river outside of Zone-622. It is expected the disorientation effects of the zone caused both of them fall into the river, and carry downstream.

Davide was found alive after regaining consciousness and escaping the water after exit from Zone-622. However, the body of Ryke Cioban was recovered, and was expected to have died before exiting the zone.

[Maria Balan, Jakob Cutov] Declared missing person(s): [6/6/18]

Both (18 years), visiting Romania from Hungary, declared missing after failed return from a 3-day hiking trip.

The event was the first to cause massive media coverage. GOC intervention was required. Maria and Jakob were found a hundred metres outside the radius of Zone-622, having survived 6 days within the zone. Both were unable to account any description of the zone, and appeared simply unaware of the time that had passed between their disappearance and re-discovery. However, both were able to agree over a single memory of a 'gavel' existing within Zone-622, now UTE-9839. Official descriptions are unknown, as the intelligence provided by Maria Balan and Jakob Cutov is deemed unreliable.

An undefined object, situated within Zone-662, has been described to be the cause of the significant disturbances (specifically the amnesia field) apparent in Zone-622. This object has not yet been determined in scale or shape, but has shared repeated and agreed reports by witnesses of its existence and its resemblance to a 'gavel'. These reports are liable to change, and are not certain or proven in any way. No further information is understood.

It appears the timer on the detonator had been reset immediately upon entry of Zone-622, causing the device to detonate approximately 30 minutes after exit from Zone-622 [REMOVED]. Conclusions suggest Zone-622 may be a protective barrier against human intervention.

O5-10 was miserable. First, she was woken up in the middle of the night because O5-9 had gotten himself vaporized, and they needed to find a new host for him again. Next, her coffee machine broke, so she had to head out to the nearby Starbucks to get her morning cup. That wasn't the bad part; she was rather fond of this shop, and for once she was someone besides O5-10.

As she settled in at her table, the bad part of her day appeared with a cheerful ding: an e-mail. The Global Occult Coalition had been sending messages for days. Whenever they found something a tactical nuke or two couldn't fix, she got bombarded with mail because they couldn't set up an armored perimeter to save their asses. This one was about a rather odd anomaly: they thought it was something antimemetic, but they couldn't investigate it closely because it probably was antimemetic, which meant that any data they collected was almost guaranteed to be lost instantly. It was a kilometer-wide area of land that try as they might, they could not investigate it. They only found the place because a civilian had stumbled in, and after they left, he realized they could not remember the last several hours of their life.

She took a deep breath, sipped her coffee, and read the e-mail. As she expected, they had refused to stop asking to blow it up, despite the risk posed by exposing a powerful anomaly to large amounts of destructive energy. Clearly, whatever it was wasn't going to get up and end the world on its own. Their concerns were better spent on the recently recontained SCP-3753, which seemed to have developed an obsession with whatever was in that field. A team of Foundation scientists, with the help (willing and unwilling) of a few Groups of Interest, had rigged up an experimental bomb, designed to drain thaumatugic power.

She began to type up a

MTF Eta-10 had taken several Class-D's to the area. As they had thought, it was indeed antimemetic; each D had forgotten what they had seen, the liberal application of mnestics had been able to unearth a conflicting set of descriptions. One had seen a field of corpses, with a bloodred sky. Another had believed he was underwater, and needed a lot of convincing before he stopped believing he was a fish. A third had seen a large desert, which for some reason was filled with plastic flamingos. Several more D-Class had entered, and all of them saw something different. All of them, however, agreed that there was a large object at the center of the field. Site Command considered another expedition, but O5-10 shut them down. If Z-Class mnestics- which had shortened the lives of the D-Class, who would definitely have to be liquidated at the month's end- couldn't determine its shape, why waste several highly-trained, valuable field agents? They were better off getting some answers from SCP-3753, and making sure the GOC didn't do anything worse, like dropping a large thermonuclear bomb so close to a large population center.

If anything was going to break the Masquerade, it was going to be because of a trigger-happy Global Occult Coalition.
