Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5929 is self-containing. No other reproductions of SCP-5929 are to be stored in this file, although they may be described in summary form.

Description: SCP-5929 is the entry for SCP-5929 in the SCP database. SCP-5929 does not exist; regular system scans indicate that this page is blank. Despite this, upon accessing the SCP-5929 file, subjects invariably report that the entry exists, and are able to accurately describe its contents.

Each viewer appears to be able to see a distinct version of this file. Many subjects have reported significant alterations to the contents of the file upon subsequent viewings; the mechanism determining the character and degree of these alterations is not fully understood, although informing the subject of the nature of the anomaly typically produces larger-scale changes. These effects seem to only extend to the database entry itself; reproductions are existent, differentiable, and unchanging once recorded, and can be viewed by others regardless of whether or not the viewer has previously seen SCP-5929. It is believed that the perceived contents of this file are related to human pattern recognition capabilities.

Reproductions of SCP-5929 themselves can contain examples of reproductions of SCP-5929 (or related phenomena), claimed to be written by other subjects. No external records have been found of these other subjects interacting with SCP-5929¹, and these reproductions seem to be written in the way that the original subject would expect them to be, based on whatever information is provided about the alleged authors. No upper limit has been found for the recursive depth possible, although examinations of these nested reproductions have not found any notable differences beyond semi-localized tonal convolutions².

Notes: Mid-reading, subject interrupted and informed that at least one sample SCP-5929 reproduction is always written by a Dr. Septem.
Result: Reference to Dr. Septem appears, supporting hypothesis that portions of the document that have not yet been read can be altered to match changes in subject's expectations.. Not conclusive, as subject may have falsified information to please researchers.

Subject: D-20874
Notes: Subject administered Class I amnestics prior to test. Complete loss of identity verified. No priming, subject shown computer terminal already open to SCP-5929 and provided with writing supplies.
Result: Subject drew a pencil sketch consisting of a series of concentric circles. After amnestics wore off, subject was unable to recall seeing anything in particular on the screen, but did not seem perturbed by this fact.

Notes: Subject holds a degree in linguistics. Subject informed that they were reviewing technical documentation; no other priming provided.
Result: Technical Document 5929.017 "A Study in NESD Expectations". Dr. Miyakawa promoted to Researcher.

Notes: Second exposure. Duration of test 3x longer than previous; subject attributed this to "damn footnotes".
Result: Technical Document 5929.017 greatly expanded with a series of novel analyses of relationships between DoCTE levels and language features. Further discipline-centric testing approved.

Result: Subject described the document rather than attempting to create a reproduction. Subject reported that the logs consisted primarily of cyclically and pseudo-cyclically recursive nested documents, with varying cycle lengths.

Result: Document contains strict containment procedures, indicating that no further subjects are to be exposed to SCP-5929 or any reproductions thereof.

2. To illustrate the principle: Say subject A's version of SCP-5929 includes a version by subject B, which itself contains a version by subject C. Then, B's version will be written as A expects B to write, and C's version will be written as A expects B to expect C to write. The achievable depth of coherent tonal extension (DoCTE) varies from subject to subject, but in no test has it exceeded 7 layers before layers start to experience atrophy or total collapse, hence the "semi-localized" designation.
