Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5161-A and SCP-5161-B are to be held in a containment chamber with self-activating electromagnets, which are to be installed above and below SCP-5161-A and SCP-5161-B to ensure that they do not separate. Electromagnets installed in SCP-5161’s containment chamber must be capable of creating a 1-Tesla magnetic field in order to ensure the connection of SCP-5161-A and SCP-5161-B.

Due to the unknown consequences of a possible separation event, access to SCP-5161 is prohibited without permission from two level-4 personnel.

In the event of a possible separation event, Site-53 is to be immediately evacuated with all data-gathering equipment as soon as possible. Further containment procedures will be established as soon as further data regarding possible separation events is found.

Description: SCP-5161 is the collective designation for two objects, labeled SCP-5161-A and SCP-5161-B. Both SCP-5161-A, and SCP-5161-B are small, glowing spheres of an unknown composition², covered in an unidentifiable writing³. The only directly visible differentiating factors between the two objects are the color of the light emitted by them, with SCP-5161-A being red and SCP-5161-B being blue.

SCP-5161-A and SCP-5161-B both create strong magnetic fields which repel each other at a force of approximately 3,500 newtons. Only through the use of more powerful electromagnets can SCP-5161-A and SCP-5161-B be held together. Due to the power of each orb’s electromagnetic field, electronics within 15 meters of either SCP-5161-A or SCP-5161-B will fail to work.

It is of the utmost importance that SCP-5161-A and SCP-5161-B are not separated (see Incident 5161-1). While the effects of a separation event are not fully understood, nor are they fully recorded, the damage potential is incredibly high.

Discovery: SCP-5161 was discovered on 08/18/1997 after reports of a blue and red meteorite landing in eastern Ohio. Foundation personnel were alerted after a large explosion was reported at the supposed impact location. When discovered, SCP-5161-A and SCP-5161-B were being held together by two interconnected discs made out of a smoky white substance. Personnel safely captured SCP-5161-A and SCP-5161-B.

INCIDENT 5161-1: On 08/21/1997, while transporting SCP-5161-A and SCP-5161-B to Site-53, all communications with researcher Dr. Habib Ali abruptly ceased for 10 seconds. This was concurrent with a brief power outage that happened to the vehicle carrying SCP-5161-A and SCP-5161-B towards Site-53. When communications resumed, Dr. Ali‘s microphone only relayed screaming for approximately three minutes until communications ceased. All attempts to communicate with the doctor after this have failed.

When other on-site personnel were instructed to locate the researcher, they were unable to find him. The driver of the vehicle reported a loud sound “like an earthquake rumbling” during the 10 seconds of power outage. When the truck carrying SCP-5161-A and SCP-5161-B arrived at Site-53, Dr. Ali was not present, and the two discs surrounding the two SCP-5161 instances had been shattered, leaving the electromagnets present in the truck as the only thing keeping SCP-5161-A and SCP-5161-B connected. The discs have displayed no anomalous properties since then.

The current whereabouts of Dr. Ali are still unknown.

INCIDENT 5161-2 [TOP SECRET]: On █/█/████ a containment breach occurred in which the entirety of Site-53's left wing lost power due to the anomalous effects of SCP-████. During this power outage, SCP-5161-A and SCP-5161-B separated. This caused a black energy dome to cover SCP-5161-A and SCP-5161-B. This dome started to slowly expand until power was returned to the left wing. During this time, the dome expanded outside of the electromagnetic field and absorbed 6 personnel - 2 researcher, 3 security guard and 1 maintenance worker. The electromagnets reactivated after power was restored to Site-53 and all breached SCPs were recontained, resulting in the rapid shrinking and disappearance of the energy dome. None of the personnel enveloped by the dome reappeared.

Personnel enveloped by the dome were accessible via personal electronics and communication devices, which remained functional due to the dome expanding outside of the powerful electromagnetic field. All personnel reported continuously falling through a black void with luminescent red and blue rings of unknown material, approximately 200 meters in diameter, appearing at consistent intervals during the fall. No personnel were able to identify or locate any other falling personnel, regardless of proximity before the separation event. This new area has been tentatively labeled as a “pocket dimension,” and has been designated SCP-5161-C.

Further testing regarding controlled separation events are ongoing. The SCP-5161 SCP file will be updated with the findings shortly.

Backup generators specifically for SCP-5161’s containment chamber have been implemented in order to ensure a continuous flow of power for the electromagnets. In the case of maintenance on generators or electromagnets, a backup electromagnetic source is required to be running to prevent any possibility of a separation event.

In the event of a possible separation event, Site-53 is to be immediately evacuated with all data-gathering equipment as soon as possible. As per O5 Command’s orders, testing of SCP-XXXX has been discontinued indefinitely. Under no circumstances are SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-B to be separated.

SCP-5161-C is a "pocket dimension" that is accessible after separation of both SCP-5161-A and SCP-5161-B have occurred. This dimension consists entirely of a black void with red and blue rings of an unknown composition arranged in a vertical pattern and spaced at consistent intervals. Any individuals in this dimension will fall seemingly infinitely through these rings, as there does not appear to be any solid ground in SCP-XXXX-C. Organic matter does not decompose in this dimension, and neither do the life functions of any living beings within SCP-5161-C. The purpose of SCP-5161-C is currently unknown.

I have detected an immense blast of energy from something outside of our universe. I believe it may be a new anomaly, or a part of another object. I am waiting for your approval to classify this as an SCP. What ever this thing is, it could be very dangerous. And I mean it.

We cannot risk performing tests on what ever this energy blast came from, because when the energy blast hit the Earth, it cut off power for approximately 3 minutes at 4 containment sites. Approximately 225 personnel died. I believe that if we did tests on this thing, the damage could be absolutely catastrophic. It could literally destroy the universe.
