SCP-XXXX.
Special Containment Procedures
The town of Tumelo, New York is to remain under indefinite quarantine. Individuals attempting to leave the legal borders of the town are to be extensively examined to rule out possible anomalous influence or outright possession.
To prevent possible reanimation, deceased residents of Tumelo are to be salted and buried in locations blessed by Foundation-approved clerics. Cadavers exhibiting symptoms derived from exposure to SCP-XXXX-D following death are to be released back into the town for repentance.
As SCP-XXXX-1 is effectively self-contained, containment efforts are centered around exclusion techniques. Global cartographic efforts depicting the northern United States in any significant capacity are to have Tumelo censored. In its place, an extension of the Catskill Mountains is to be documented. Aerosolized Type G amenstics have been distributed in a 10km radius surrounding the town, and all physical, digital, and mental records of Tumelo's existence, or the residents thereof, have been destroyed.
Any individuals that have gained knowledge of Tumelo are to be contained, interrogated, and subjected to the containment procedures detailed in the previous paragraph.
SCP-XXXX is a cultural staple for the residents of Tumelo, and as such civilians and organized groups that reside within the town have become accustomed to its presence. Communication devices within the town are to be monitored by technical teams stationed at the newly-erected provisional site located near the town square. Mentions of SCP-XXXX or any related anomalous phenomena are to be censored, and the offenders are to be fined.
SCP-XXXX-A through SCP-XXXX-F is self-contained contained within SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX-G is forbidden from attempting egress. Should it attempt egress at any point in the future, SCP-XXXX-G is to be apprehended and held in involuntary, isolated quarantine for no less than three days.
Description
SCP-XXXX is the Parish House of Squalor, a location in Tumelo, New York that previously served as the town's central place of worship and a hub for occult practices during its active period. SCP-XXXX has a non-Euclidean infrastructure; there are several rooms present within the structure that should logically overlap but do not, rooms extending well beyond the location's physical borders, and rooms that do not lead to any place located within the property. Several of these non-Euclidean spaces are now inaccessible, either through the dismantling of the townsfolk, natural weathering of the infrastructure, or intentional destruction by the entities that dwell therein.
Presently, the only accessible entry point to SCP-XXXX is the front door. The interior of the structure is highly dilapidated. Mold and other natural weathering processes have reclaimed the majority of the structure where anomalous activity is no longer occurring. Tapestries depicting an unknown kingdom or civilization are present on the walls. The significance of the images on the tapestries is currently unknown. Interviews with Tumelo residents and local historians have been inconclusive.
Several thaumaturgic sigils are inscribed on various rooms throughout the location. Clerical analysis has revealed that these sigils are (most likely) containment runes designed to entrap organisms of extreme risk and power. Despite resembling sigils typically depicted by the Hermetic Order of the Black Tree, the exact origin of these runes is unknown.
So far the containment sigils have been found on six rooms. These rooms have been scanned by a team of specially trained clerics, who were able to remove the sigils. This allowed Foundation researchers to document the anomalies contained therein, with the re-application of the sigils occurring shortly after investigation. Each room had a placard above it with a title enscribed to it. The contents of each "marked" room are as follows:

LORE
- The town of Tumelo (Sesotho word for Faith) is under a plague in the 1700s, and a monastery/church is constructed there as the bishop believes that the plague is a result of the town's lack of religious affiliation.
- Priests try to convert town, fail miserably, and decide that they'll get the villagers to convert by showing themselves as examples of virtue.
- A few months later, priests invite locals to the church to witness a "show" in the church, where seven of the lead priests have fanatically pursued the direct opposite of the deadly sins, becoming abominations.
- Locals get really freaked out seeing the church filled with abominations, storm out, and leave the town for good.
- Centuries later in the modern-day, area is inhabited again by people, and the ruins of the church remain there.
- Foundation is called to the location after reports of church ruins supposedly "fixing themselves" circulate, and find that the church has been rebuilt, and the abominations are inside.
- Investigation of church, eventual reveal that the abominations returned to the earth after believing that the locals need guidance again.
Quote from Chastitas about Corruption/Tempation: "While I cannot say for certain how this abomination was birthed, I can tell you the circumstances of its conception, which were made evident to me after many years of research and rumination. Imagine a hand tosses a stone into a pool. Regardless of the hand's intent, the stone has now forced ripples to continually grow and spread, eventually affecting a sizable area within it, if not the entirety of the pool. While the outline of the stone may be almost any shape, and the manner in which it was thrown may be with force or with care, the ripples will always be circular, and will always disrupt the existence of anything they wash over. Furthermore, when the shores of the pool are reached, the ripples will reflect onto one another, creating more turbulence than there was before. I do not know who threw the stone, I do not know the stone itself, but I do know this. The pool, which is more truth than metaphor, represents the great mesh of thoughts and emotion in our world; the turbulence represents upset or unrest in our feelings and minds; and the being known as Temptation has hatched in this town as a result of the concentrated turbulence."
"While the only way to halt this cycle off water reflection naturally is time, we believe that deliberate, moral exemplar can either help beings adjust to these ripples, or even stop them completely. If we succeed, it would be as if the ripples were suddenly encased in frost, rendered unable to move through the efforts of both ourselves and the townsfolk. It may sound drastic, but as the Lord has proven time and time again, the ice and snow of winter will always give way to pleasant spring, and a tranquil pool. We have been sent to the Earth as Guidance, and Guidance we shall be."
CHARACTERS
Agent Laurence Bellgrave: (Mu-13 Lead/Protagonist)
Cardinal Priest Humanitas: SCP-X-A (Opposition to envy) Is a figure wrapped in highly-charged electrical cables, directly connected to electrical wires throughout the town. It is providing a large amount of power to the town, and is eventually redirected towards Foundation facilities.
Cardinal Priest Temperantia: SCP-X-B (Opposition to gluttony) A skeletal nun, who is buried in a garden outside of the church. Edible vegetable matter is anomalously sped up in growing and ripening process, boasting enhanced size, flavor, and longevity. Materials consumed are described as tasing very good, and exhibit no other anomalous effects.
Cardinal Priest Patientia: SCP-X-C (Opposition to wrath) A nun, for whom the flow of time is anomalously reduced to the point where an action such as blinking would take 24 hours.
Cardinal Priest Industria: SCP-X-D (Opposition to sloth) Is stationary inside the staircase to the balcony, is a tube of flesh that fills the staircase. Inside, a skeleton continually walks up the staircase, is disassembled and circulated to the bottom, before walking up again. The ambulatory skeleton was located after an x-ray/thermal scan showed the building's hidden qualities.
Cardinal Priest Caritas: SCP-X-E (Opposition to greed) A mummified figure located in a sarcophagus in the cellar. Is continuously and anomalously producing helpful supplies (Salt, dried meat and fruits, vegetable seeds, etc.) out of its mouth. Occasionally manifests items that MTF agents would be positive towards, such as candy, friendly letters, and other comfort items.
Cardinal Priest Chastitas: (SCP-X-F Opposition to lust) Inside an anomalously-hollowed void that exactly matches his figure. Was discovered when an x-ray/thermal scan of the building revealed a living entity within the walls.
Cardinal Priest Humilitas: SCP-X-G (Opposition to pride) Is a mobile, non-physical figure that attempts to aid MTF members while inside the church. Is only exists as a heat signature, but is able to interact with objects.
SCP-XXXX-1: The plague, a strand of the bubonic plague that has begun to resurface due to unknown reasons. The plague covers the town in a thick fog, allowing entry but preventing egress. It is denser near the Parish Church, as the priests seems to be drawing it in to destroy it. Possible alternate designation: A curse on the townsfolk, which when individuals are afflicted, cause them to be unable to leave the town. Additional effects of the curse could include vampiric like qualities, since there's a gothic/religious theme with this article.
Temptation: The evil demonic entity thing behind the curse on the townsfolk. Doesn't have a physical form, and is just a big mass of evil energy.
Corruption: Temptation's physical form, maybe obtained after combining the flesh and bones of the cursed townsfolk into one entity? Resembles a round blob with whole bunch of arms/hands extending from its center like a cursed porcupine, forming a vaguely spherical entity. Is approximately 50 meters tall.
Guidance: The combination of all seven priests, which is an angelic figure, resembling a humanoid with most of its features obscured by wings. Is approximately 55 meters tall.
Optional Request from Kensing: Since the evil force underneath the town doesn't have a physical form at first, I kinda wanted to do a tie-in to the evil thought force that I'm creating lore for (My 6k con entry and 5324). The general backstory is that a hivemind alien civilization on Venus, while trying to make their planet a perfect vision of what they believed the best possible planet would look like, messed up really bad. Since they communicated through thoughts and limited telekinesis, they figured that they could rearrange the planet if they used somewhat sketchy means to make their telekinesis much stronger. The result was that they didn't have complete control over their own thoughts, and messed up the whole thing when random thoughts or worries that they had became reality. As a result, the planet was destroyed, and leftovers of the hivemind, who were essentially warped into something entirely new by the event, occasionally resurface to try and convert areas into its own perception of a perfect environment. If we were to incorporate this, nothing much would change, but I wanted to ask if it would be a good fit. There's also a theme about a bunch of hands being involved with the entities, hence why I added the description for the monster as a possible hand abomination.
OUTLINE
Opening: Foundation, recently discovering hella cursed town, finds creepy church with things inside. Things are interviewed, and curse on town is studied.
Middle: Foundation, based off of the interviews with the priests, deduces that there must be a curse on the town as a direct result of the priests, and removes them from the town. Foundation also desecrates the land of the church, believing it will end the priests' influence.
Closing: Turns out, the priests were actually helping, and underneath the town is an extremely cursed entity, which surfaces and begins wreaking full-scale havoc, as it has grown more powerful without the influence of the priests. Foundation tries to contain, fails miserably, and the convoy escorting the priests from the town is intercepted by the entity. This leads to priests combining into one holy entity (Named Guidance), fighting the monster, and eventually destroying it. Priests separate back into individual entities, and are recontained (with the exception of Humilitas). Aftermath is that a large portion of the town is either dead or injured, and the Foundation now has to deal with the rehabilitation of the town.
Planned minor detail: Cardinal Priest Caritas is seen manifesting a boxed DVD copy of Studio Ghibli's Howl's Moving Castle before shifting to a positive facial expression. The second copy had a celebratory note attached, which was found to be written by Placeholder MTF Agent's spouse in preparation for Placeholder MTF Agent's upcoming birthday. It is an identical match to the copy that the spouse wrote on.
Planned major detail: Cardinal Priests Chastitas, Industria, and Patentia are all capable of speech, leading to a helpful but somewhat difficult to decipher interview with Chastitas and Industria.
Possible major detail?: Cardinal Priests Humilitas leaves the church when various other priests are moved off-site, and is extremely difficult to locate due to their properties. As a result, SCP-XXXX is reclassified as Keter. Humilitas is reportedly seen doing minor yet helpful tasks for people throughout the town, and is currently not contained.
