Lemberg and The Crying Warmonger
"Pts… Hey Kid, wanna buy some scrolls?"
- Foundation investigates a Type Blue terrorist, and in the conflict with him, he fights with 2 golems. Suddenly one of his golems goes berserk, and although it kills several foundation agents, it also notably targets its master. The Foundation Collects several scrolls from him.
- Foundation begins testing with the scrolls. The scrolls make it clear that you do not need to be a type blue to use it, but the materials and equipment would generally need to be made by a type blue. While not necessarily true for all kinds of scrolls, that is one of the advantages of this form but in exchange you need the scroll itself
- Golems function fine for a while, before going berserk, but it appears at first to most likely just be due to error
- Foundation eventually realizes all the golems are breaking down at the same point (not necessarily a literal set time frame, just a consistent design flaw that repeatedly manifests itself which causes it to go berserk).
- Foundation discovers that the scrolls will suddenly burn up after X amount of uses. The fire is anomalous in nature, and will burn even in a vacuum or while submerged. Foundation assumes this measure was put in place by the original creators, but in reality it was put in place by the dealer.
- Foundation now begins heavily investigating into who makes/sells the scrolls
- Order eventually send out a message to the Foundation. Tells them they would like the scrolls back out in the market, but that's a lot to ask for the Foundation so they won't push it. They also specifically tell them not to use the scrolls, as they like the Foundation, they don't want them hurt, and it was not meant for them. The Order release the booby trapped scrolls to make the market not viable, diluting it with bullshit so its impossible to tell what scrolls are viable until its too late, while also contributing to their other efforts to catch him. They also say they are either close to catching the dealer or that they already have.
- A Foundation agent stationed in a location with a high amount of anomalous activity reports about a salt statue that has been left out. It was left there by the order, basically angelo'ing him, still alive. To any normal person, that wouldn't really be all that notable, but to people on the other side of the veil, it is all to obvious what it is.
