TERMINAL COMMUNICATIONS PROVIDED BY F-COMM

I figured we needed a basic storyline :)

Characters

I guess we need some characters, yea? I'm not the best person to ask about characters but some baselines can't hurt.

• Mark (don't have a last name for him yet) - Main character to our little story, also known as Foxtrot, Dev 2. Surprisingly light-hearted and good-willed for an MTF member though his moral compass weighs heavily on "If it hurts the Foundation, we either follow protocols or kill it". Relatively new to the Foundation but quickly rose up the ranks due to his involvement in several anti-memetic crises (some of them unwillingly), hence his involvement in MemeCon.
  • Last name ideas: Remes, Beaufort, Ytterby, Embrey, Gadway. Bear in mind that I'm very bad at coming up with names — I won't be offended if you want to go with something else. There's also always the option of just never mentioning his surname.

• Lauren DeRoe - Side character, Researcher DeRoe. Highly prolific memetic and anti-memetic researcher. She does not take kindly to banter or light-hearted jokes; very no-nonsense and all business. Doesn't mean she's completely harsh, though, as she has a very strong moral code and knows what she believes in due to her time on the Ethics Committee. A veteran when it comes to the Foundation, she's often tasked with educating new staff between her projects (though she hates it).

• I feel like we need a third character but I've drawn a blank. Any suggestions?
  • • Potential third character: Someone who's already memetically affected by something. Idea that immediately comes to mind is a person whose mind's host to some kind of sapient meme, but we could also play into a "multiple personality" type thing. We have a Researcher and an MTF Agent already — what if we had a civilian? Someone who officially "left" the Foundation years ago, but gets called back for this event: either through a glitch in the system that thinks they're still employed, or because the antimemetic side of things means they don't have to worry about potential info-leaks. Name-wise… we could always do something clever with antimemes there, as well.
    • Ooh! Spur-of-the-moment concept: someone whose brain locked out all the "Foundation" aspects of their personality/memory years ago. Most of the time, they work as the manager of a launderette — when they're summoned to this thing, the mnestics break down the barriers and they get to be an HMCL Supervisor again, at least briefly.

• On a personal level, I'd like some kind of reference to or cameo of Researcher Samuel Lloyd, who's canonically a memetics researcher in most universes, and my only character to have their own tag. As long as they don't die, there shouldn't be any trouble with SCP-3856 ;)

Storyline

So, characters are sorted (though feel free to make your own changes), now comes the hard part. Actually mapping a story. I'm not the best when it comes to storylines and this is your idea, so fill this in a little bit?

Alright, basic plot points:

• Start off in one of two ways:
  1. Have Mark wake up and have to piece together what's going on by talking to the people around him. He then has to take charge (potentially when it's revealed he's this year's "host"), and we go through various characters, talking about what they've been getting up to in the fight against memory-altering anomalies.
  2. Cold open with something going wrong. This is not a normal MemeCon — the system, as all systems eventually do, has run into a blip. Mark, as the most qualified MTF agent still surviving, is forced to save the day.
• I'm personally leaning towards the second one. After having him figure it out, kill the metaphorical (or literal) bad guys, and sort out Containment for whatever anomaly caused the mess, I think we should end with him typing up a new invitation to himself, set with a delay of 365 days.
• Currently struggling to come up with ways in which the MemeCon could be non-standard, though. Could use some ideas there :)
