Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard humanoid containment chamber at Site 17. It is to be visited and conversed with every two days by a different C-class personnel member. It is to never to converse with the same person twice. C-class personnel are to be given hidden communications equipment and are to be directed by senior staff on what to say to the entity during their time with it. No staff member is to ever converse with SCP-XXXX unless properly authorized. In the event of a containment breach, personnel are not to engage in conversation with anyone and are report anyone wearing the garbs of SCP-XXXX.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a humanoid entity that shifts form relative to the people it communicates with. SCP-XXXX's appearance remains unchanged until after the conversation has concluded and the participant has left its presence, these changes typically follow a set pattern from minor to major changes. The scale of these shifts appears to be tied to the length of the conversation one has with SCP-XXXX, with longer conversation producing major changes (i.e. changes in facial structure or height), and smaller conversations producing minor changes (i.e. the addition of a scar or birthmark). See addendum.XXXX.01.

In addition to its shape shifting abilities, the entity also possesses the ability to copy the memories of those it speaks with. Similar to with its shape shifting abilities, the entity appears unaware it is able to do this, and instead attributes the memories it copies to itself. However, the memory copying abilities do not appear to be restricted, as several tests have concluded that the entity has copied memories from many subjects early childhood.

It has been noted that if SCP-XXXX communicates with someone that he has already spoken to, it will fall into an almost catatonic state. It will return to a normal state after 1-2 days, but will seem mildly perturbed for at minimum a week. A similar effect is also caused by SCP-XXXX not communicating for (Set amount of time). This would last until a new person is sent to communicate with it. See incident report XXXX-A-1.

Talking to SCP-XXXX has been described as a confusing experience. It will always start with a cordial greeting before asking if the person it is conversing with wishes to hear a story. The stories that the entity tells are almost never cohesive, with several contradicting points that don't share any meaningful connection. It could be talking about visiting a location, but its next sentence will talk about it being in a completely different location.

Addendum.XXXX.01: Exceedingly long conversations can lead to changes in the SCP's gender. There have only been seven (7) documented changes of SCP-XXXX's gender. Changes in gender are the rarest changes that this SCP might go through. These can only be caused by the subject having a relatively long conversation(over 4-5 hours). After a gender change, SCP-XXXX goes through a memory 'restructuring' so that every memory is now from the current genders point of view, regardless of the content of the memory.
