Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: The Foundation, alongside Foundation analogues in the Multiversal Foundation Alliance, is to support a worldwide campaign in various governmental waste collection institutes to employ garbage collectors to manually enter houses to collect waste, in order to reduce worldwide suspicion of SCP-XXXX.
Description: SCP-XXXX refers to two related anomalies: a vehicle capable of interdimensional travel resembling a rear-loading garbage truck (SCP-XXXX-A), and a male of Canadian descent which pilots SCP-XXXX-A (SCP-XXXX-B).
SCP-XXXX-A is a heavily modified Waste Management garbage truck. SCP-XXXX-A does not have wheels; instead, it has four small gyroscopic metal engines which serve as propulsion devices, and appear to be responsible for its ability of interdimensional travel. In addition, the doorways into SCP-XXXX-A's driver's seat appears to have been converted into airlocks. A similar system is in place for the rear load, effectively allowing SCP-XXXX-A to operate in vacuum environments. SCP-XXXX-A has also been observed to operate at maximum functionality in extreme-temperature environments and underwater.
SCP-XXXX-A has undergone multiple modifications since initial documentation, see Event Timeline XXXX for more information.
The origin, age and true legal name of SCP-XXXX-B are unknown. SCP-XXXX-B claims to be "The Garbageman" and does not respond to any other titles. It is believed that SCP-XXXX-B is non-anomalous outside the operation of SCP-XXXX-A; however, SCP-XXXX-B has displayed high athleticism and the ability to evade capture.
The primary goal of SCP-XXXX-B is to load as much garbage as possible into SCP-XXXX-A. To accomplish this, SCP-XXXX-B regularly breaks into civilian households to collect garbage from trash bins. SCP-XXXX-B appears to value refuse containing electronics, metals, and alcoholic beverages. SCP-XXXX-B's motive for this task has been stated to be to "defeat garbage."
Discovery: The existence of SCP-XXXX was revealed to the Foundation following several reports of break-ins in suburban neighborhoods in Lima, Peru, corresponding with reports of a large unidentified object entering Peruvian airspace. Several witnesses reported SCP-XXXX-B rummaging through their garbage, piling it into his garbage bags, and causing minor property damage. The Peruvian Armed Forces attempted to destroy SCP-XXXX-A utilizing three SAM launches. The vehicle displayed feats of evasive action, followed by sudden demanifestation.
The three fired missiles were detonated without incident over the Pacific Ocean.
Nico Note: I did minor tonal fixing and added some details before I looked at what time it was x_x What are we trynna do here? Is this gonna be a character piece? Because if so, I think the idea of the genius trashman from Dilbert is hilarious and worth looking into.
Putting your comments in green and mine in blue, just to make it easier to read.
Honestly, I haven't done a good character piece yet. This would be a good time to start. I'm not a frequent Dilbert reader, but judging from the quick google search I did, we could mix that angle with a dash of insanity.
Speaking of which, how do you want to structure this? My current idea:
- SCProcedures and Description, introduce idea of garbageman, he can travel through dimensions, his modus operandi is to steal garbage, etc.
- Interview Log, show his personality, that he does this in the name of some indescribable "justice," etc.
- Event Timeline, show a bunch of events where he does crazy stuff with garbage to further flesh out his actions and motivations
- Incident Log, a giant garbage monster appears and starts wrecking stuff, but then garbageman shows up and vanquishes it
Thoughts on this general structure?
Nico Note: Oh cool! I've done some character profiles; though mostly in the form of tales so this will be a good exercise. So I think if we want to introduce some sort of garbage monster, we'd have to allude to it beforehand. Mention that he's on a quest to rid the world of scum and villainous waste, etc.
Also, if he's stealing garbage, why not give it a purpose? He modifies his truck with it, makes himself advanced ways to collect garbage, etc. This way we ramp up the insanity and add in some genius for good measure to have readers saying 'what the fuck' and not have him confronting the garbage monster be an ass-pull.
Otherwise, I do agree with the current plan. I like where it's headed and we can really tell a fun and silly story with this!
I like those ideas! I threw together a basic description, let me know what you think.
I like it. I fixed it up some and added more details, also cleaned up the tone. I also added some details to the trash he prefers, hinting at the fact that maybe he's trying to build something out of what he's taking, and also might just be a drunk.
In what direction do we want to take the interview? What kind of context do we want to set it in, and how should his dialog be presented?
