Page Layout (Optional): It starts off as a normal SCP Article, but branching decisions start to show up in the exploration logs.
Elevator Pitch: There is a door that, when entered, one becomes stuck in a superposed state until someone reads the SCP article.
[[collapsible show="+ The Science" hide="- The Science"]]
This article is heavily inspired by 2 scientific phenomenons found in quantum physics, superposition and the no clone theorem.
Superposition is when two states become one. For example, lets say we superposed A and B, and that said superposed value is C. C would equal **__both__ A and B**. However, when one looks at C's value it would become **__either__ A or B.** This is due to the no clone theorem, which states that it is impossible to recreate an unknown quantum state (which in this case would be either A or B).
I just simplified like a metric ton of books and I apologize profusely for any and all quantum physicists reading this.

Central Narrative: There will be multiple branching existences of this SCP. However, when one takes a look at said SCP as a whole it becomes clear that what exactly it is changes whenever the SCP article is read. Below is a list of several topics I would like to cover in the various endings/journies to said endings.
[[collapsible show="+ Various Topics" hide="- Various Topics"]]
* A discussion as to how a researcher at the SCP Foundation got involved in the Foundation (after all, its not like most people know about them)
* A discussion of what it is like for the average Joe in a world full of SCPs and amnetisations
* Various monsters trapped inside their reality, waiting to be freed
* The story of a D-class who comes to grips with his disposable nature
* The story of a researcher who has to struggle with the Foundations grey morals
[[/collapsible]]
Hook/Attention-Grabber: The initial hook would come from the choose your own adventure aspect of the article, however the secondary hook would come from the end of the article. At the end of the article a small piece of a puzzle is 'revealed'. When these pieces are put together an SCP that controls the very fabric of the universe is implied.
Additional Notes: Ideally there would be around 16 different endings to the SCP article, but I doubt I will have enough time or energy to do so. Chances are the number of endings will be closer to 4.

Elevator Pitch: There is a town that goes on forever, wherein a MTF agent gets trapped and slowly goes insane while meeting strange characters.
Central Narrative: The journal of an MTF agent trapped inside the town and depicts his slow decent into madness.
Hook/Attention-Grabber: The only source of knowledge about the town comes from the journal of a deceased MTF agent. The journal was found in the Wanderers Library and is classified as SCP-XXXX-X despite having no anomalous features.
Additional Notes: I want to humanize the MTF agents that work at the Foundation while having a nonsensical setting akin to Alice in Wonderland.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Under no circumstances should instances of SCP-XXXX be opened or broken. In the event that an instance of SCP-XXXX is dropped or broken see addendum A. All instances of SCP-XXXX are to be kept in sealed cardboard boxes. Any and all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 in stage 3 or below are to be transported to the closest facility and placed in a cell. Under no circumstances is anyone allowed to touch SCP-XXXX-1 instances without the use of protective equipment. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 who are in stage 4 or 5 are to be uprooted and sent to Cite 19's botanical garden and fed D-Class whenever their exterior begins to wilt. Those working with or around SCP-XXXX-1 instances are required to wear face masks.
All perfume and beauty shops in North America are to be analyzed every one to two months by the MTF team "Venus Fly Trap" in order to ensure no sales of SCP-XXXX are being made. Instances of SCP-XXXX found should be confiscated and the surrounding area closely monitored for any instances of SCP-XXXX-1.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a clear glass perfume bottle containing 100 ml of SCP-XXXX-A on average. There are currently 2,178 instances of SCP-XXXX being secured by the SCP foundation. While there is no known manufacturer of SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX has only been seen being sold by perfume and beauty shops located in North America.
SCP-XXXX-A: SCP-XXXX-A is a translucent green liquid with a sweet scent. When applied to a human via an instance of SCP-XXXX said human becomes an instance of SCP-XXXX-1.
Stage 1 - Following immediate application of SCP-XXXX-A:
No immediate physical changes are visible other than SCP-XXXX-1's sweat becomes sticky and sweet smelling.Stage 2 - Approximately 2 to 3 hours after Stage 1:
SCP-XXXX-1 begins sweating profusely.Stage 3 - Approximately 5 hours after Stage 1:
Skin becomes slightly more pale. Any human who can smell SCP-XXXX-1 are inexplicably compelled to get close to and subsequently touch SCP-XXXX-1. Those who touch SCP-XXXX-1 get stuck in their sweat and are unable to escape without the use of amputation.Stage 4 - Approximately an hour after Stage 3:
Sweat becomes more acidic and capable of dissolving human flesh. The clothes worn by SCP-XXXX-1 begin to dissolve as well as any humans attached to SCP-XXXX-1. Dissolved matter becomes a nutrient rich slush that is then absorbed through SCP-XXXX-1's skin.
SCP-XXXX-1 becomes extremely lethargic.Stage 5 - Approximately 20 to 30 minutes after Stage 4:
SCP-XXXX-1's skin is dissolved and replaced by a thick green coating covered in sweat and digestive juices. The smell of SCP-XXXX-1 becomes approximately 200 times more potent. SCP-XXXX-1 can no longer move nor talk, and can only survives off of humans who have been dissolved by its digestive juices. Roots begin to form and spread from SCP-XXXX-1's feet.
Addendum A:
Following the application of SCP-XXXX-A or breakage of SCP-XXXX any and all personnel suspected to have come in contact with SCP-XXXX-A are to be subject to the containment procedures discussed above. After 24 hours of holding if a subject has not progressed to any of the further stages said subject should be released and should no longer be considered an instance of SCP-XXXX-1.
Objects that have come in contact with SCP-XXXX-A should be cleaned thoroughly with a mop and a mixture containing 5 parts water, 2 parts bleach and 1 part alcohol. If possible said items should be incinerated after cleaning. Otherwise said objects should be cleaned regularly and closely monitored in order to make sure no instances of SCP-XXXX-A remain on said objects surface.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Under no circumstances should civilians be allowed to enter SCP-XXXX. Civilians found trying to enter SCP-XXXX will be pulled over and told that the surrounding area is restricted. Under no circumstances should foundation personnel or D-Class enter SCP-XXXX except for testing. SCP-XXXX-1 should be left in ██████████████████████, where it was found.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a Victorian-era style town located in ███████████████ and is surrounded by thick white fog. This fog has made it impossible to see what this town looks like past the first row of houses. Based off of the contents of SCP-XXXX-1 it is speculated that SCP-XXXX is a spatial and temporal anomaly. Upon entering SCP-XXXX it is impossible to get out, see exploration logs for more details.
SCP-XXXX-1
SCP-XXXX-1 is a torn up and beaten leather journal believed to be owned by former field agent Dwight Myers, see exploration log B1001 for more details. SCP-XXXX-1 was found by [DATA EXPUNGED BY O5 COMMAND] while performing [DATA EXPUNGED BY O5 COMMAND]. A brief transcript of SCP-XXXX-1 can be found in addendum 1. Other than where SCP-XXXX-1 was found and its connection to SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-1 displays no anomalous properties whatsoever.
Expeditions:
Expedition A1D01:
D-Class personnel 31057 was ordered to enter SCP-XXXX. Upon going past the fog, and therefore an observational range, communication with D-31057 was immediately lost.
Exploration Result - No Data FoundExpedition A2D04:
After [DATA EXPUNGED] D-29291 was sent into SCP-XXXX wearing a harness attached to a 200 meter long tether. Upon D-29291's entrance of SCP-XXXX the cable went taut and snapped in two after ██ minutes and ██ seconds of the tether being pulled in random directions.
Exploration Result - No Data FoundExpedition B1001:
Three field agents were selected to explore SCP-XXXX. After being debriefed they were each given standard exploration gear. After entering SCP-XXXX all communications with the agents proved to be impossible. Agents were marked as MIA.
Exploration Result - No Data FoundAddendum E01:
Following Expedition B1001 all human testing and exploration has been officially banned by site director Dr. Yatatashi.Expedition C10D1:
An unmanned drone was sent into SCP-XXXX. Upon entering the fog, all communication with the drone was abruptly cut off and the drone was labeled as destroyed.
Note from site director Dr. Yatatashi - I think that this expedition proves that trying to explore SCP-XXXX is a fruitless effort.
Addendum 1:
The following is a brief transcript of SCP-XXXX-1.
[DATA EXPUNGED FOR BREVITY]
June 1st, 20██,
It is the last day of vacation. I am sad to once again leave my family for work, but hey, that's just how life works I suppose. Currently Peter and Lisa are playing a game of catch, I think Peter is winning, although it is hard to tell. Tom is sitting on the bench outside watching the two play while enjoying a frozen popsicle. I am going to miss their hijinks. Laura and I are determined to finally finish ██████████ before tomorrow. We are half-way through the final season baby!
June 9th, 20██,
Ben, Thomas and I have been chosen to explore SCP-XXXX. Apparently it is some foggy old town and all of the D-Class sent into it have disappeared. Dr. Yatatashi is hoping that the three of us will be able to get out of SCP-XXXX due to our training. We were given the standard exploration gear. We will be entering SCP-XXXX tomorrow.
June 10th, 20██,
The three of us entered the fog and upon reaching the other side I was alone. I could have sworn we were next to each other. I tried to contact Ben and Thomas with our coms, but all I got was static. In front of me was an alleyway. When I turned around, there was a row of houses. I plan on entering the first one.
June 10th, 20██,
Holy shit! As soon as I entered the house I fell upwards! It would seem like the gravitational pull in this house is different than normal. On the ceiling was a hatch to what should have been an attic, but when I went through it I fell out of a window belonging to a different house. The room I fell into was relatively well furnished. I turned around and climbed out the window I had just fallen through only to find myself in a room that had to be at least 300 meters in width and height. It was an exact replica of the room I had just exited but everything was bigger. After walking in the room for a few hours I fell through a crack in the floor and ended up landing in front of a door to a random building.
Step 0
After wandering the streets for a while I realized that my watch wasn't working. I decided to start keeping track of time with steps.
Step 178
When I turn around things that should be there occasionally aren't. I have been walking down a straight road but when I turned around there was just an empty alleyway. I wonder what Laura would say if she were here. I bet it would be pretty funny. A pang of sadness strikes me as I think of her and the pain she must be going through. I hope I can get out of here soon so I can see her again, so I can drive Tom, Lisa and Peter to school, so I can watch them grow up.
Step 2195
Now that I think about it, I have yet to see the sun. Despite this the sky has always been a bright blue without a cloud in sight.
Step 3078
I met someone while walking down the road. He was an old man with a long gray beard and an oaken cane. We chatted for a while, apparently he forgot his name some thousand steps ago or so, so now he just goes by The Wanderer. He has no aim or goal, he just wanders through this town. According to him he had stopped counting how many steps he had taken a long time ago. This struck an innate fear in me as I thought about my family. What if I never see them again? I shook my head and continued walking down the street.
Step 4519
I walked past a diner with a huge sign reading 'Mamma Mia's Diner'. There was a huge glass window display that contained a cake that somewhat resembled the cake that we made for Lisa for her fifth birthday. I decided to walk into the diner only to find myself outside of another Mamma Mia's Diner located at the end of an alleyway. There were no cakes in this diner's window.
Step 7081
I went through the door of a house only to find myself exiting a window into a bedroom. To my shock Ben was inspecting a bookshelf in the corner of the room when I fell with a loud thud. Ben turned around with his gun raised, only to lower it upon realizing that it was me. Upon chatting with Ben I learned that apparently he had only been in SCP-XXXX for a few minutes. After Ben had failed at trying to contact Thomas and I he decided to enter a house when I fell through a window behind him. When I told him how long I spent wandering around SCP-XXXX we came to the conclusion that SCP-XXXX was also a temporal anomaly in addition to a spacial anomaly…
Just our luck, right? We decided to hold hands and exit through the door that Ben had originally entered. Upon going through the door I found myself in an identical room to what we had just been in. When I turned around Ben was gone. I walked back through the door only to enter a Mamma Mia's Diner. It was barren of people and food, with a storage closet hidden in the corner of the room. When I went into the closet I exited a house through its window. This place makes no sense.
Step 10509
I met a fellow with bright red hair and brown eyes. He had several freckles that covered his face and asked if I had seen a tall brunette by the name of Juliette. He held up a picture of her that he kept in his pocket. According to Romeo, Juliette went to get groceries one day but never came back. After three days Romeo decided to follow the path Juliette had taken, only to find himself in this crazy place. Romeo was quite passionate about making sure that I knew how important it was that he found her, going on for what must have been several hours. I nodded and we went our separate ways as I wondered just how long Romeo has spent looking for Juliette, as well as just how long I have spent looking for a way out of here. I pulled out a picture from my wallet and looked at it for a long time. It was the picture of the time Laura and I decided to take the kids to Disney Land. I swear I will find a way out of here in order to see them again.
Step 15780
I found a puddle by the side of the road. Considering the fact that I have never seen a cloud in the sky, let alone a drop of rain, I decided to investigate. I think a small sliver of me was hoping that it would lead me to an exit. I stepped into the puddle, falling down a stream of water and out of a faucet. Upon being rocketed out of the faucet I began falling towards the West wall of the room I now found myself in. After coughing for a bit I looked around, noticing that I was in another Mamma Mia's Diner. I began walking towards the storage closet but I accidentally fell through a window and found myself free falling in a sky of blue. After several minutes I landed on a piece of road with a loud thud. I am really beginning to get sick of this shit.
Step 15790
Shit! I lost my wallet. It must have fallen out of my pockets when I fell out of the faucet.
Step 30912
I was looking through the window of a house when I heard something that I haven't heard in ages - music. Walking closer to the source of the sound I found a short skinny man with what must have been several instruments strapped to a backpack several sizes too big for him. Upon seeing me he shouted "Howdy! Would ya like to hear a ballad? I have been working on one called the 'Ballad of the Wary Feet'!"
I agreed and listened to his music for what must have been about an hour (not that it matters, I suppose). The song was beautifully composed, and consisted of a strange looking flute, a banjo, a harmonica, the drums and cymbals, and a few other instruments that I don't know the name of.
Upon the songs end I asked for the guys name and how he got here. According to him his name is "Mizato", and that he was a traveling musician. Despite never being that successful, he never let a lack of money prevent him from wandering the streets of towns and villages in order to entertain those willing to listen. One day he was travelling down a road when he came across some thick fog. After a few minutes of dancing and singing he realized that he was in a new town. This town. The town that I have been trapped in for over 30,000 steps.
Rather than lose hope like the others Mizato came across, he decided to entertain himself and anyone willing to listen using the only thing he could think of - music. I thanked him and we went our separate ways. I wonder what must make Mizato so optimistic, and I hope that I can steal some of that optimism for myself. I bet Laura and Lisa would have loved to hear Mizato's ballad!
Step 32085
I saw a person that looked like The Wanderer hobbling above me. I tried calling out to him but either he didn't hear me or he just ignored me. I sighed and just kept walking, after all, it is not like people walking in the sky is the weirdest thing I have seen while in here.
Step 33197
A realization struck me as I walked past a Mamma Mia's Diner with some soup in it's window display. I have not eaten or slept while inside SCP-XXXX. Despite this I am neither hungry nor tired.
Step 34500
I miss the feeling of rain on my skin. I miss the smell of fresh Summer flowers. I miss waking up to the smiling face of Laura. I miss the sound of dragonflies humming in the air. I miss watching as my kids chase fireflies throughout the night. I miss my life before being assigned this mission. I miss watching my kids grow up. I wish I could have told my family how much I loved them.
Step 36808
I wonder if I am dreaming, and if I made all of this up. I wonder if I will wake up any minute now to the site of a beautiful wife. A long slumber interrupted by a petty argument between Peter and Tom, or the crash of a glass from Lisa trying to reach the top shelf. Or maybe even the smell of burnt pancakes, Laura always had a knack for burning pancakes no matter how careful she was.
Now that I think about it, I suppose I have never actually slept while in SCP-XXXX. Perhaps I should try falling asleep in the next bed I come across? Even if this isn't a dream I will hopefully be treated to one or two as a distraction from this place.
Step 45086
I found a room with a bed! The gravitational pull was sideways, but somehow I managed to get myself into the damn thing. I wrapped the sheets around the bed frame in order to prevent myself from falling out of it. After several hours of failing to actually fall asleep I gave up and continued wandering. Maybe SCP-XXXX prevents people inside of it from sleeping?
Step 47192
I walked into another room a few hundred steps ago. This time the room I was greeted with was a large spherical room. It took me several minutes(?) of climbing various furniture before I managed to fall out a window and into some random Mamma Mia's Diner. I hate this place.
Step 51820
I stumbled across Thomas! He had a scraggly beard and hardly recognized me, only realizing that I was a friend upon seeing my uniform. According to Thomas he had been walking for some 7 or 8 million steps. At first he tried marking various buildings with a can of red spray paint that he had brought with him. However, after taking two or three million steps without coming across a marked structure he gave up.
I asked if he had seen Ben, to which Thomas seemed perplexed by. It took me several minutes of describing our former jobs as MTF field agents, and of Thomas, before Ben seemed to remember who I was talking about.
"No, this old brain contains many a empty corridor and many a strange house, although as far as I can recall your the first living creature I have seen in some time. I suppose a few million steps ago I came across a musician by the name of Misty, or was it Marty? Bah, it doesn't matter. You are all just figments of my imagination either way."
At this Thomas proceeded to shove me, and jump through the window of an adjacent house. So much for a civil conversation I suppose.
Step 61903
I was in a somewhat normal house (if one ignores the fact that the ceiling must have been some several thousand feet tall). I saw my reflection in a bathroom mirror for the first time in ages. I looked awful. I had a very patchy and very stubbly beard. I took out my field knife and decided to give myself I nice shave. While shaving, my elbow must have touched the mirror, because the next thing I knew I was falling on top of some god forsaken room with creepy toy dolls everywhere. Upon landing I gained a nasty gash on my left cheek from my knife.
Step 80705
A few steps ago I came across a tall slender brunette with piercing green eyes. Upon seeing me from afar she shouted "Ruby!" and ran up to me in open arms. After a long embrace I managed to escape her grasp as she asked if I really was her Ruby. I told her my name and that I did not own any rubies. At this she wept for several hours as I tried to comfort her. I eventually learned that "Ruby" was the name of her son. Apparently she once fell in love with a charismatic monster. After a lustful marriage she would often be beaten by her husband, and locked up in the attic whilst maidens from the local tavern satisfied her husbands cravings.
I tore off a piece of my shirt, and gave it to her as a makeshift handkerchief. I asked if she had a name, and she responded with "Julia… Although I suppose I haven't been called that name in quite awhile".
Julia continued her story, stating that one morning she noticed that she was pregnant. Not wishing for her child to grow up anywhere near her disgusting husband, she decided to tell him that she was going to go to the grocery store. However, instead she took a long and winding path in the woods to a town that she had never heard of before. It was surrounded by a thick fog and she has been here ever since.
One day she gave birth to a stunning baby boy named Ruby. She watched him slowly grow up, but by the time he was a toddler he must have wandered off without Julia. She has been looking for Ruby ever since, fearing for the worst. She thanked me for listening to her story, and told me that she had given Ruby a silver necklace of a duck, and that if I were to find him that I should tell him that his mother is looking for him. I agreed, thinking of how much pain Julia must be in, and how much she must have endured.
Step 91555
I have been pondering something throughout the past thousand or so steps. If my body really is trapped here forever, maybe there would be a way to free my soul. I write this as I stare at my revolver.
Step 200511
I might not be able to watch my kids grow up, but maybe I can meet them once they have finished growing. As I write this I am trying to hold back a stream of tears. I aim my gun to my heart an-
Step 200512
Pain. Unbelievable, indescribable pain. Searing through my body. Can't breath. Not dead. Vision hazy. Blackeding out… Blood on paper.
Step 23124
The wound in my heart has mostly healed. I do not know for how long I was unconscious. I recently came across a house with a functional shower that I used to dispose of the dried blood that caked my body. My chest is still tremendously sore, but it is becoming more bearable as time goes on. I was a fool for thinking that I could escape this Hell so easily.
Step 318705
A few hundred steps ago I came across a teenager with dusty brown hair. He had a bum leg, was missing a left arm, and had a face and body made ugly by hundreds of thousands of scars. Upon getting closer to this stranger I was entranced by his neck. Across his neck ran a thick scar, which contrasted with the beautifully intricate piece of jewelry he adorned.
Upon seeing me he greeted me with a high raspy voice, stating that his name was Ruben. After talking to him for a bit I learned that he grew up in this place, and that in order to escape he had tried ending his life numerous times. However, each and every time he would re-awaken in this town. He began worshiping this place, stating that it "delivered him from death and blessed me for my sacrifices", displaying the necklace he adorned. It was a small silver duck with bright emerald eyes. Apparently the town gave it to him as a gift for sacrificing his left arm to his new deity.
He than asked if I wanted to join his next ritual, to which I politely declined and ran the opposite direction. Looking back, I could make out a vague figure stabbing itself in its eye. I shudder at the thought, remembering the hole in my heart that was now filled with scar tissue.
[DATA EXPUNGED FOR BREVITY]
Step 459103
I came across someone unique today. Unlike everyone else I have seen before, this person gave up on wandering these endless roads. He had a long wispy white beard and looked ancient. Upon seeing a fellow traveler he shouted to me from across the horizon. Apparently I am the first person he has seen in quite some time.
The old man used to roam these streets, but after a billion or so steps he realized what 'many fools are too afraid to admit, that there is no way out!'. At this he broke out in a mixture of tears and laughter. He tried convincing me to stay, stating that things get lonely by oneself. However I must keep walking. I refuse to believe that there is no way out of this infernal maze.
Step 900135
I found a tall man with short black hair and two white wings sprouting from his back. According to him his name is Elizah1. I was naturally curious as to why he was walking down the same alley way as me, when he could instead be flying. According to him the sky in this place makes just as little sense here as the houses do. If he flies straight up the next thing he knows he will be falling face first towards the ground, or find him self suddenly flying out a window and into a random house. According to Elizah "At least with walking, I don't have to worry about accidentally breaking another wing."
I asked Elizah how he got here, to which he responded by stating that he was out on a flight one day when all of the sudden the air grew quite thick and hard to see through. The next thing he knew he was here, and have been here for what must have been eons by now.
I wonder if time even matters when one is counting time by feet instead of seconds.
Step 981023
I wonder how accurate my step count is. It must be off by a few thousand or so by now. I've got nothing to do now but walk, count, and think, walk, count, and think, walk, count and think.
[DATA EXPUNGED FOR BREVITY]
Step 7860912
I was walking down an alleyway when suddenly a tall woman dressed in business attire came stumbling out of a street lamp. I must say, it was nice not being the one to fall this time. I offered her assistance in getting back up, asking for her name.
According to her she does not remember her name. She knows that she used to have a life outside of these endless cobblestone paths, although she couldn't recall any details about said life. I then asked if she had any idea as to how long she has been here, to which she chuckled, stating "I don't think my clock has ticked since… Well since we started talking! I wonder what I used to do, to require me to always check my clock. You see, I have a habit of compulsively checking it every now and then."
It was then that I realized that she must have checked her watch at least eight times throughout our conversation thus far. We parted ways as she opened the door to an adjacent house and proceeded inside.
[DATA EXPUNGED FOR BREVITY]
Step 24170320
I tripped over a drone from the Foundation. It must have been sent in here as some sort of experiment or exploration attempt. I examined it, noticing that one of the propellers were badly damaged. I noticed that it was still on and still broadcasting, so I looked at its camera and stated my name and some of the discoveries that I have made about SCP-XXXX MAKE NUMBER WRONG BY ABOUT 3, or was it SCP-4502? It doesn't matter, I doubt I will ever escape this place either way. I placed the drone on the side walk and continued walking.
Step 128639087
The soles of my shoes have long since worn away, much like my actual soul. My feet are covered in sores and blisters from walking. Maybe the old man I passed some lifetime ago's was right. Maybe there is no way out of this god forsaken place. Maybe I really did die, and this is my own personal purgatory. I just keep walking and walking, with no end in sight.
Step 345097835
For the first time in ages I am seeing my reflection in a window. Staring back at me is a shoeless stranger whom I don't recognize. One with a scraggly beard, a large scar on his left cheek, and hole in their shirt. Maybe the old guy was correct, maybe there is no way out. I give up. I have no idea how what's his face was so optimistic.
End
This is the last page of my journal. I have nothing else to do but reread the now full pages wrapped in leather I suppose.
Holy shit! I don't know how, but I forgot about my family… I came across the foreign names of Laura, Lisa, Tom and Peter. I, I don't know what to say. Maybe this is what kept Mizato going.
Its odd, in one of my journal entries I wrote about dragonflies, and yet it has been so long since I have thought about them that I can barely remember what they look like. I fear the same may one day happen to me and my memories about my wife and kids if I dispose of my journal. The thought scares me - more then the realization that I may be trapped here forever.
I was originally going to give in. Stop wandering. Throw away this journal and never look back. But I can't. I have a family and a life worth fighting for. I can't stop walking. I won't stop walking.
I will try and reread this journal as often as possible as to try and preserve their memory. It has been so long since I haven't thought about weird houses and cobblestone paths, this will serve me well as an anchor to my old life. As a buoy of hope in a sea of despair.
Signed,
Dwight Myers
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be kept under Foundation custody and be heavily amnesticized upon arrival. SCP-XXXX-1 instances are required to undergo weekly psychological evaluations. Amnestics are to be prescribed as needed to ensure that SCP-XXXX-1 instances have no memory of any current or past non D-Class friends or family members.
Under no circumstance on the day of or the day prior to SCP-XXXX-1's birthday should SCP-XXXX-1 be allowed out of containment. SCP-XXXX-1 should be highly encouraged to develop friendships with D-Class, especially as SCP-XXXX-1's birthday draws closer. Upon SCP-XXXX-1's eventual termination, all global newspapers are to be monitored for any mention of a birthday related murder in an effort to find the new SCP-XXXX-1 instance.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a clown entitled "Barry the Birthday Clown", although no one except for SCP-XXXX-1 instances have ever been able to witness SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX haunts the current instance of SCP-XXXX-1, killing various friends and family of SCP-XXXX-1 on their birthday. The bodies of those killed by SCP-XXXX are then anomalously transformed into birthday related paraphernalia, such as gifts, party hats, and birthday cakes. These items are then gifted to SCP-XXXX-1. A list of several of the things SCP-XXXX has done to dispose of bodies can be seen in Addendum 1.
Once SCP-XXXX-1 has no remaining friends or family that they remember, SCP-XXXX will euthanize SCP-XXXX-1 and choose a random individual to haunt. These individuals have always been between 12 and 36 years old. This phenomenon will still occur even if SCP-XXXX-1 is not killed by SCP-XXXX.
Thus far the only recorded imagery of SCP-XXXX has been the photo found in Incident Log 1522A underneath Addendum 2.
Discovery: Various newspapers from across the world (dating back as far as 1861) were found to be posting articles about birthday related murders. Following this realization, MTF █████████ managed to apprehend the current SCP-XXXX-1 iteration from a farm in Colorado.

Addendum 2:
The following is the test log and associated incident log relating to SCP-XXXX.
The following occurred 3 years after Foundation researcher Dr. Mia was deemed to be an instance of SCP-XXXX-1. Following this diagnosis Dr. Mia was tasked with researching SCP-XXXX, and as a gift she received a supposed picture of SCP-XXXX. She was quoted the day prior as stating "Ya know what would make for a great present? A picture of the fucking clown that has been haunting me. It would really help me out."
The next day Dr. Mia was found dead, with the cause of death being suicide. The picture given to Dr. Mia can be seen below, and appears to be made out of the remains of Dr. Mia's pet dog. All attempts at recreating this result have ended in failure.
Based off of the incomplete test logs Dr. Mia was working on prior to her death, it is currently believed that she was actively trying to record SCP-XXXX.
Test Log: 1522 (TODO: Double check log number)
Researcher: Dr. M SCP Dr. Mia
Subject: Barry the Clown SCP-XXXX
Test Date: 5/7/20██
Thesis: Who gives a fuck any more? Whenever I check the security logs no one else can see him. Whenever I tell [DATA REDACTED] that the fucking clown is in the room with us she doesn't believe me. I am going mad. He taunts me in my dreams.
SCP-XXXX tends to give perverse presents based off of the items that I that SCP-XXXX-1 wants. If I SCP-XXXX-1 just wants a photo of Barry the Clo SCP-XXXX then maybe I SCP-XXXX-1 will get one.
Procedure: Tomorrow I will express an active interest in receiving a photo of Barry the Clown to some of my peers. TODO: Specify the phrases I used
Results: What. The. Fuck. I wanted a picture of the clown and I got one. I think. Maybe. I don't know what is with the baby heads or the [DATA REDACTED] hanging from the ceiling, but I did it! I did it! I can finally sleep again!
Additional Notes: I am tired and want to sleep in peace. I don't really remember who I should address this to, just that I knew someone I loved. You are probably dead, but in case you aren't, just know that I hope to find you in the next life. -Sincerely, SCP XX Dr. Mia

Dr. Bright is in his office, working reviewing the most recent test results from SCP-XXXX. He is suddenly interrupted by the sound of an uneven knock on his door.
Dr. Ram: Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if I could speak with you for a bit… You know, anomaly to anomaly.
Dr. Bright looks up
Dr. Bright: Sure thing Tom. Take a seat.
Dr. Ram: Thanks.
Dr. Bright: So you wanted to talk?
Dr. Ram: …Do you ever get used to it? Do you ever miss being… normal?
Dr. Bright sighs
Dr. Bright: Yes, yes I do. I still haven't stopped trying to figure out how to rid myself of this thing. Dr. Bright gestured to SCP-[DR.BRIGHT]
Dr. Ram: Would you do it?
Dr. Bright: Do what?
Dr. Ram: Destroy SCP-[DR.BRIGHT]?
Dr. Bright: You know, if you had asked me that when I first realized what had happened, I would have answered yes in a heartbeat. However, I'd be lying if I said I still felt that way. Don't get me wrong, one day I do want to die, but I think I found a good use for my powers.
If I die while testing some new anomaly, it's no big deal. But if anyone else, were it to be you, Dr. Mark, or even a janitor, dies while testing then we lose something valuable. Besides, I can't in good conscious leave this world… I have the ability to prevent needless death as we study and contain dangerous anomalies… to give those tasks to anyone else would be immoral at best.
Dr. Ram: That's easy for you to say though! I mean, you literally can't stay dead. I on the other hand am just a human ram! For fucks sake, I can't even type without a special keyboard!
Dr. Bright: At least you're not a snake… But in all seriousness, stop looking back at the life you had. Don't forget about it, but stop lingering on it. You need to look ahead, focus on what you can do, and how you can best make use of your ability.
Dr. Ram: It's just hard, you know. I mean, most of my job is spent in front of computers, and it's not like I can easily type anymore.
Dr. Bright: You're right, you lost something and you may never get it back. But you know what? So did Dr. Kelsey when she got in the car crash, and Dr. Brown after the containment breach. And sure, they may not be a were-ram, but they still lost limbs that they used every day.
And I know, you're probably thinking that 'this is different, that I'm anomalous', and you know what? You're right, but there's nothing special about it. No glory, no comfort, no one else who has gone through what you're going through, but you can't let that stop you.
Dr. Ram: Thanks… I guess I better get back to work, undead mice are in the server room again.
Dr. Bright: Anytime Tom, anytime.
