Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: The sum of SCP-XXXX documentation thus far obtained by the Foundation is available for research and testing purposes in the vaults of Site-01 and Esoteric Containment Site-2. All other extant SCP-XXXX documentation is to be destroyed with extreme prejudice. Persons not associated directly with either the command hierarchy of the Foundation or research into SCP-XXXX are to be prohibited direct knowledge of sensitive portions of SCP-XXXX by use of targeted amnestics, or termination in the case of especially memetically virulent information.
Foundation embeds in multinational media and industrial corporations, governments, and other Groups of Interest are to disrupt the design, development, and/or creation of SCP-XXXX-A instances wherever possible. Extant instances are to be recovered and contained in the Heavy Machinery Wing of Site-2. Diplomatic, financial, and military means are authorized in these situations.
A selection of SCP-XXXX-B instances are housed in the Humanoid Wing of Site-2 under the strictest possible information security measures, with air filtration system modifications to their cells to accommodate excessive venting. Interviews are to be conducted exclusively through D-Class intermediaries.
Any and all Mobile Task Forces, information security personnel, or other relevant personnel worldwide are to be considered available for reassignment to contain SCP-XXXX related documentation, persons, or phenomena that may emerge or re-emerge.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a series of ancient Mekhanite documents that have been recovered from various archaeological and cultural sites worldwide. These documents vary greatly in themes, structure, and style, but are primarily concerned with thaumatological theory and transhumanist methodology.
The instructions provided within SCP-XXXX function as blueprints for various anomalous technologies. Testing indicates that information derived from SCP-XXXX materials is textually adaptive. Incomplete, damaged, or otherwise compromised SCP-XXXX materials alter themselves to form seemingly intact texts, which upon examination prove to be coherent and highly similar to the originating text(s). However, primary source documents, duplications, close translations, and personal notes pertaining to SCP-XXXX do not display these properties so long as they remain legible and undamaged. Additionally, SCP-XXXX materials converted to digital formats display no apparent anomalous behavior.
SCP-XXXX-A instance, ca. 1930.
SCP-XXXX-A are anomalous technological items that are produced through the use of SCP-XXXX. Instances may vary substantially in size, complexity, and apparent function, ranging from complete and highly complex machinery to what are apparently smaller components of larger items. Among contained specimens, 56% appear to be some form of communications equipment, and 21% appear to be related to mass-production. 37% of SCP-XXXX-A instances are capable of at least one form of telepathic activity, and no instances yet contained appear to employ any form of digital technology. Rather, they universally employ clockwork mechanisms and are frequently steam driven or are capable of being steam driven.
