Librarian Protocol
A computer program that can summon a doorway into another universe, by manifesting a door within a doorframe connected to a computer.
Ability
Open gateways to other universes using a program.
Usage
The compiler can only use the program to open a door.
Access
A computer needs to solve for its password changes every 24 hours, then compiled before the next password is noted.
Doorway choice
The physical doorway requires a doorframe.
Universe choice
Dependent on the user.
Door description
A wooden door with a worn handle.
General universe description
Exploration teams can meet hostile or non-hostile beings. The general area is always different.
History
1. A set of runes were found in a chunk from Stonehenge and promptly written down by archaeological teams.
2. A translation team decoded and found it to be compatible with the latest programming languages.
3. Initial testing resulted in the death of the IT and science team after a hostile entity broke through, only managing to get pushed back and program shut down.
4. Surviving IT expert codes a self-running program to encrypt the program with its passwords changing every 24 hours.
Limitation
1. An empty doorframe must be wired to the computer.
2. The door cannot be closed unless its native beings are back and this overrides the password lock to access the program.
3. Any person's death outside of the native dimension will treat the person's corpse as the native of the dimension they died in. A corpse does not count as a foreign entity.
Problem
1. There are infinite universes it can lead to.
2. 80% possibility of the universes being hostile to mankind. 25% of the said universes have cognitohazards which can lead to death.
3. Exploration teams need safety equipment to handle certain universes.
4. 8% possibility of universes have beings that can help the Earth but are busy protecting Earth from other deadlier beings.
5. 12% possibility of universes are other universes have the Foundation in it, with 2% with their own Librarian Protocol. The rest may get a copy.
Possible things to explore
- As corpses do not need to return to the home universe, the door can be closed if the exploration team dies. Good way to imply that the universe being explored is clearly dangerous without sacrificing mystery.
- Prisoner's Dilemma when Foundation analogue encounters exploration team. Need to weigh the potential benefits of sharing knowledge with an exploration team that claims to represent a Foundation from another universe against the potential dangers of trusting an enemy that is disguising itself as so.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: S/E/K/T
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX testing is restricted to one universe every 12 hours. A Foundation calculation machine is reserved in solving the password to decrypt the program for usage. In the case of containment breach from a foreign being, the door frame is to be blocked on both sides until the foreign being is captured and returned to their dimension. Testing is then immediately halted until the next second password reset. Reconnaissance drones will be given a thirty-minute reconnaissance time before returning to base for further instructions. Once the recon team has established the layout of the dimension, an exploration team is given 4 hours extraction time for any artifact reported by the reconnaissance drones.
SCP-XXXX refers to a self-decompiling program written in C++ installed in a computer at Sector C, Site-98. SCP-XXXX-1 refers to doorways created by XXXX that connects to a selected universe based on the seed entered within XXXX's input window.
A physical backup of SCP-XXXX is contained on three separate digital versatile discs stored off-Site around the world.
Description: To facilitate the use of SCP-XXXX, the user will input a Base32 password; once the password is accepted, the program will recompile and be allowed for complete use. SCP-XXXX requires an alphanumeric seed which will anomalously pull out the universe it will use for its doorway. The door will materialize within a door frame of any size that is connected to the main computer.
To this date, seven thousand, three hundred and eighty-one (7381) universes have been cataloged by their identifiable alphanumeric seed and it has been observed that all universes accessed so far are three-dimensional baseline universes that follow all established laws of physics known to humankind. It is estimated that approximately ██% contains hostile and dangerous elements, with ██% exhibiting cognitohazards leading to immediate death. The remaining ██% were discovered to have non-hostile beings.

Exploration Team: Research Team
Subject: SCP-XXXX
Team Lead: Dr. Lily Xavia
Team Members: D-449542, D-607017, D-698185[BEGIN FEED]
Lily: Alright everyone, this is the first and actual exploration through an XXXX-1. I want everyone to stay close, this is something new. Keep within my area so my camera picks it up.
D-449542: Are you sure this is safe?
Lily: Yes, of course. The data logs of the program before the acquisition suggest that the universe selection algorithm was refined to decrease the chances of death.
(D-607017 opens the door)
D-607017: Wait, isn't this the same room we were in?
D-698185: Wait, really? Are there any guards?
D-607017: Not in my sight, let me check.
(D-607017 enters the doorway, D-449542, D-698185, and Lily followed through)
Lily: Stay close. I don't think we're alone here.
D-698185: Hey, doc, look at this. Looks like they were trying out something.(Lily inspects D-698185's discovery)
Lily: DDG Initiative? Must be a Foundation analogue. Let's get back.
D-449542: Doc, we have a problem.
(Lily turns around to see a scientist with an amulet with a green gem and behind him were five heavily armed men)
Dr. Bright?: I thought you moved off-site, Dr. Xavier?
Lily: Oh, I-I just received reports of an anomaly here.
Dr. Bright?: You mean the door you came from? You know we've been waiting for someone from that door.
(D-607017 makes a run for it and gets shot in the leg. Armed men pick up D-607017 away from camera view)
Dr. Bright?: Now now, don't think we can let you all four go that easy.
D-698185: *hushed whisper* Doc, we need to [UNDECIPHERABLE].
Lily: Not without him.
