SCP-914 Experiment Log Sandbox

Note: This page will be purged every week. If your log gets rejected or doesn't adhere to the correct format, make sure to save a copy yourself if you want to try again.

Guidelines for future entries can be found here.

Note to all contributors:

Please include your name on all records, along with the date and the total number of items "refined."

Test Log Format:
All test logs should be written in this form:

**Date:** DD/MM/YYYY
**Total Items:**

If you want to add a note to a log that has already been ported over, copy that log to the bottom of this page and use this template:

//Suggested Note: //

REMINDERS TO CONTRIBUTORS: SCP-914 does not create or destroy matter, nor does it change anything on the atomic level. All outputs should contain all and only the matter included in the input. Some grandfathered entries break this rule, but new entries should never do so.

An additional reminder: SCP-914 does not create or destroy matter, nor does it change anything on the atomic level. All outputs should contain all and only the matter included in the input. Some grandfathered entries break this rule, but new entries should never do so.

Additional additional reminder: 914 is a cheeky little bugger. It's unpredictable and apparently kinda snarky. If the output is exactly what you'd expect from the input, or if 914 has just obligingly improved everything you put in, the entry is out-of-character.

  • LeveritasLeveritas (me) will regularly check this page, selecting logs that are of sufficient quality to add to the log, and port them over.
  • Tests that fail to adhere to the proper format (date, etc.) will not be ported until fixed.
  • You can place notes at the end of tests, and feel free to be creative when doing so. It can give some interesting insight into dynamics within the Foundation. Having said that, don't make Foundation personnel look like idiots/psychopaths/juvenile/a combination of those. It's a professional research organization, not a fraternity ward or a death cult.
  • Not too direct. 914 doesn't talk to researchers directly, it ruins the mystery and it's not clear if the machine is sentient or not. If you put in a note, you don't get a response, you might get something that might be a response if you interpret it a certain way, but it also might be random. Or something else entirely.

Some of you might have noticed that I'm being harsher on notes and logs that I deem too LOLFoundation. To illustrate my point, I'm going to use an example from part IV:

I actually edited the note. This is what it originally was:

This is a very small difference, but it makes a world of difference in tone. The first entry works a lot better because it's not a researcher scolding the machine outright, like a kid would. It's implying (read, show don't tell) that the researcher became so fed up with the result that he outright left. Wacky entries work well if it's against the cold professionalism that signifies the Foundation, and it doesn't work if it looks like the employees are acting just as unprofessional.

Add your entry below this line.

Note for next week: Make the results a bit less murder-y. We had a lot of them last week and it's not interesting anymore if every ''very fine'' result is attempting to kill you/horribly maim you.
Note for next week: Removing the denied entries after the weekend if unchanged. I left some without notes because I'm still deciding. Make the results a bit more about the result and less about the characters this week. - Mod
If you're not comfortable with your in-universe name being used, politely request a change or come to me about it. If you start editing other logs without warning, you're out of here so fast that it's going to make your head spin. I have no tolerance for divas.

Notice: On another note, changing these notices will result in disciplinary actions, meaning Site banning, not just this log.

Added Logs

Please delete yours as soon as you see it. Thanks! (Logs that have been moved here for more than a day have been partially deleted to save a little space.)

Denied Logs

Denied or equivalent by mod, as well as drafts that have not been touched for a long time. (Will be deleted after a day without activity.)

General Notes

Veritas is back to kick ass and chew bubblegum. And he's all out of bubblegum.

New Entries

Name: Junior Researcher McLaif, D-74652
Date: XX/08/2019
Total Items: One shuffled set of ██████-brand rotating puzzle cubes, ranging in size from 2x2 to 7x7.

Note: It has been observed in the past that 914 is capable of playing games such as chess. This test will focus on whether 914 can solve rotating puzzle cubes. -McLaif

Input: One 2x2 cube.
Setting: 1:1
Output: A solved cube.

Input: One 3x3 cube.
Setting: 1:1
Output: A shuffled █████-brand 3-layered pyramid rotation puzzle, commonly known as a Pyraminx. Successfully solved by D-74652.

Input: One 4x4 cube.
Setting: 1:1
Output: A solved cube with all edge pieces flipped. All attempts to completely solve the output cube have failed.

Note: 4x4 cubes and larger have edge parity, where a cube's edge piece is flipped from normal. It seems that 914 has picked up on this. And made this set of cubes forever unsolved. -McLaif

Input: One 5x5 cube.
Setting: 1:1
Output: A shuffled █████-brand dodecahedral rotation puzzle, also known as a Megaminx, with black stickers and colored pieces. The output puzzle is non-anomalous and solvable, but difficult due to the inverted colors.

Note: I had considered peeling off the stickers of the output, because it's essentially a stickerless cube/puzzle at this point. -McLaif

Note: 914 is currently at two unsolved and two solved outputs. This may just be due to 914's inherent unpredictability. It also seems that if 914 turns the puzzle into a different form, it does not solve it. This last puzzle will help determine if this is the case. -McLaif

Input: One 6x6 cube.
Setting: 1:1
Output: The unchanged input. A shuffled 6x6 bandaging rotating cube puzzle. Certain pieces on the cube, such as a conjoined pair of an edge piece and a corner piece, prevent the cube from rotating in certain directions. The bandaged pieces are shuffled and not solved, rendering the puzzle impossible to be 100% solved.

Note: I have placed all the outputs into the break room. Please note that the 4x4's edge pieces are unsolvable, and the 6x6 has a few unsolved, bandaged pieces. -McLaif

The fifth setting of 914 is Very Fine, not Extra Fine. Please do remember that. - Russell Millhouse

Ah, well. Note to self: don't write stuff when sleep-deprived :P
Changes: some words in the opening note. -bigyihsuan

I find it hard to keep 914s time and the D-Classes time seperated. Also, 914 normally needs five to ten minutes to finish an operation. Almost all tests in here would be considered a record. (Also, who's that D-Class? Feliks Zemdegs evil clone?) -Laskenta

These are fairly small objects, though, ranging from 50mm to 70mm. Either a note saying that 914 was abnormally quick, or up 914's times by 1 unit. As for the time separation, I originally had the D-class's solve times with the description, but I felt that it would be better in the I/O header. Upping the time unit would also help with keeping the times separate. -bigyihsuan

I've changed the units for 914's times from seconds to minutes. -bigyihsuan

6490min = ~108hr > 4.5 days No further comment. -Laskenta

Given that 914 could "solve" the cubes by many different methods other than rotating the sides, I would say that comparing 914's speed to a human's is pointless. Your own tests prove this, when it changes the puzzle into a different type. You can't compare solution speed when one of them isn't trying to solve it. Also, why is the last test on Very Fine? There's no explanation of why it's being put on a different setting, and that test would either mess with your data or be considered invalid. - comptech

Issues with this test are based on semantics as of right now. I'll add this after consensus has been reached. Either that or make it more plausible myself. - Mod

I've removed the times, and made the 6x6 into an impossible-to-solve bandaged cube. -bigyihsuan

Name: Researcher Laskenta; D-47565
Date: 13/07/19
Total Items: A USB flash drive containing the source code and documentation of Java 8

Input: The flash drive
Setting: Fine
Output: The same flash drive. After connecting the result to a computer, all liquids within ten meters from it are replaced with ~303-313 Kelvin hot coffee. D-47565's blood, who plugged in the device, fell victim to this effect, causing massive internal bleeding. Subject survived and recovered within eight days. Medical examination is ongoing to ascertain how D-47565 can survive with non-anomalous coffee in their circulatory system. The flash drive is only accessible by a "Solaris 8" system and contains no data. Reading the bytes on a "Solaris 8" system results in pseudocode for replacing all liquids in the range of ten meters with coffee.

I'm trying that one again. Last time it was denied, because the "effect adds mass", which I did not understand, as the effect replaces the fluids with coffee. (Also, effect that add mass seem to be no problem, normally.) -Laskenta

Just asking, does the pseudocode change all liquids within ten metres to coffee just by being run through a computer or what? ~Kai

Name: Intern Noobly Walker
Date: 20/08/2019
Total Items: Three copies of SCP-914's file

Input: SCP-914's File
Setting: 1:1
Output: A file describing one 'Clockwork-chan'
The file describes a tall, Caucasian female with orange hair and red eyes. She has no booths, instead her mouth and anus are described as being the input and output, respectively. The dial is in her cleavage, for some unexplained reason. She is described as being snarky, and playing pranks on the researchers that "use" her. She is described to have a crush on Maintenance Technician Johnson, and enjoys torturing Researcher Darby, perhaps out of spite. The testing logs seem have remained the same, save for additional dialogue from 914, where she makes explicit jokes and teases the researchers.

Tests 2 and 3 were canceled, as Intern Walker is too disgusted to continue testing.

Notes from various personnel:

I just read some of the testing logs. Yes, they are similar to the real logs, but it felt like I was reading a dirty novel instead of an official foundation document. I think I'm going to enjoy burning this to ash. - Intern Walker

I read through some of the logs in my free time. I'll be back after getting my hands on as many amnestics as possible. Afterwards, I'll join Walker in burning those cursed texts. - Dr. Steph

It's already gone, man. I'll take an amnestic, though. - Intern Walker

I had the luck to read the Clockwork-chan version of my entry; it felt like lesbian erotica. I'm glad this abomination is gone. - WR Markham

Is it just me or did Clockwork-chan seriously fantasise about Johnson as Aquaman with my tridents? That's like, really weird. I'm also noting that all redacted information has been replaced with ridiculous substitutes. - Junior Researcher Kai

Name: Tsumiki Miniwa
Date: 20/08/2019
Total Items: 1 figurine of "Guido Mista", "Noriaki Kakyoin", "DIO", and "Hierophant green". 6 figurines of "███ Pistols". All figurines from the anime/manga series "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure"

It had to be the one called "███ Pistols". Unless you're okay with the chance of 914 dumping highly poisonous gas everywhere, or creating something that can punch at ██km/h from 5 meters away, or creating something that can put you into a death loop for all eternity just by punching. - Miniwa

Input: 1 figurine of The World
Setting: Fine
Output: 1 figurine of Star Platinum
Oh? Does it realize that Star Platinum has Star Finger but The World probably does not? - Miniwa

Input: 1 figurine of Guido Mista and all six figurines of ███ Pistols.
Setting: Fine
Output: 1 figurine of Guido Mista, animated. Object shot security officers using bullets that bounced off air through anomalous means, before being captured by five security officers. Object is incinerated.

I picked exactly five, because I know that Mista in JoJo is afraid of the number 4. Makes it easier on security. However, this shows that 914 knows about JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. - Miniwa

The bullets bounced off… air? Do fix this. ~Kai

Input: 1 figurine of Noriaki Kakyoin and 1 figurine of Hierophant green.
Setting: Fine
Output: Figurine of Noriaki Kakyoin and a painting. Figurine was seen striking the picture with the paintbrush, giving Researcher Miniwa a small scratch. Object incinerated, after a hole is put through its chest by Researcher Miniwa's request.
Note: And it remembers the one-off abilities. - Miniwa

Input: Star platinum figurine from previous test, DIO figurine.
Setting: Fine
Output: Both objects fought each other for two seconds before entire scene suddenly warped into a same-scale Road Roller smashed into the ground, the DIO figurine bloodied on the ground, and the Star Platinum figurine on the Road Roller. One D-class sustained injuries due to being in range of the warp when the scene warped. Scene warp is likely because both characters can stop time in some fashion.
Note: So that's how it reacts with 2 objects from that show that aren't counterparts of each other. On the other hand, where did it get the Road Roller? - Miniwa

It's called Sex Pistols. - Miniwa

Take note of your spelling and capitalisations. Once again, colons go inside the bolded text, not outside. Recommend you to just copy from the top of the page. ~Kai

I added a collapsible at top of the page for all added entries. If you can't find your log anymore, it's probably there. Be so kind as to delete yours. -Laskenta

Another collapsible has been added for denied entries by mod. If you want to try again, take it out but make sure it's edited. If you don't want to try again, do us a favour and delete it too. ~Kai

PS: After the denied logs have been deleted from the collapsible and you want to try again, PM me at Kai WinesKai Wines immediately! ~Kai
