Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-1 is to be kept in a standard humanoid containment chamber within Site-42. Under no circumstances is SCP-XXXX-1 to be exposed to any material related to 'The Simpsons' franchise. SCP-XXXX is not to be exposed to electronic devices of any sort. If SCP-XXXX-1 is exposed to either of the aforementioned contraband, the personnel assigned to it at the time of the exposure are subject to severe consequences. SCP-XXXX-1 is to attend weekly psychological counseling from Dr. Kenny Hart.

All streaming services, television networks, and online mediums that broadcast/contain episodes of 'The Simpsons' franchise are to be monitored by undercover Foundation operatives within the aforementioned services. Undercover operatives within cable companies are to download all scheduled to air episodes onto a secure hard drive, then give said hard drive to Site-23 technical staff. Technical staff will run the contents of the hard drive by anomaly-processing bot Delta-9999 ("ScanBot"). Episodes that test positive for anomalous properties are to be stored within a secure standard locker in Site-23. Operatives within streaming services and online monitoring are to regularly check uploaded content for reality-altering properties, and take the proper protocol upon discovery.

Persons affected by SCP-XXXX are to be located and the proper protocol is to be enacted. Persons who were involved in small-scale SCP-XXXX related events, they are to be administered C-Class amnestics. Persons directly involved in large-scale SCP-XXXX related events are to be administered E-Class amnestics. If necessary, disinformation campaigns are to be spread, "disproving" the involvement of anomalous forces within specific events.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a reality-altering memetic agent embedded within episode reruns of the hit television show 'The Simpsons'. Upon viewing SCP-XXXX infected episodes, viewers will immediately (or as soon as possible) execute certain actions/tasks seen within the show. This effect also extends beyond viewership and will cause events to occur without the aid of humans if this is how said events occurred in the episodes. SCP-XXXX has influenced various events ranging from minor coincidences to historical events (see Addendum).

SCP-XXXX-1 is a Caucasian male in its 30s, formerly known as Walter Kurz. SCP-XXXX-1 is the assumed cause of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-1 explained to the Foundation that it came across its reality-altering capabilities in college. While watching 'The Simpsons', it noticed that certain depictions in the show closely resembled real-life events, and became consumed by this. SCP-XXXX-1 explained that due to the excessive amount of television it consumed daily, it became capable of altering broadcasted signals. How exactly this occurs is unknown.

SCP-XXXX-1 has undergone psychological evaluation and was diagnosed with a delusion of grandeur by Site-23 psychologist Dr. Hart.

Discovery: In the latter half of 20██, the Foundation intercepted a growing number of reports pertaining to the show ‘The Simpsons’. The reports claimed that a number of events from the show had transpired in reality after the episodes in question aired. A series of signals were found interfering with and blocking the original broadcast of all networks currently airing episodes of the show. The signals were intercepted and tracked to an apartment in Yakima, Washington, USA. The apartment was put on lockdown upon the arrival of Foundation assets under the guise of SCP-XXXX-1 being wanted for illegally distributing drugs. SCP-XXXX-1 was found in its apartment and apprehended successfully shortly thereafter.
