Set over a [TIME PERIOD]-period in the later half of the 21st century, early 22nd century. Humanity has started to colonize and mine the solar system, AI is becoming more commonplace, etc. (see: The Expanse, Ghost in the Shell, Firefly)
1. SCP - Introduces Great Filter. Something is causing all highly advanced civilizations to suddenly die. Modulum
2. Tale - Introduces main characters. Research team that is looking into the SCP - maybe style as an after-action report or such? TheeSherm?
3. GoI Format/Serpent's Hand - Pattern Screamers: who are they, where did they come from? Yossi
4. Tale - Early signs of the Universe breaking down. In this story, shit gets real. Humanity must protect themselves against doomsday by creating a planetary isolation field. Modulum and BlazingTrail
5. GoI format/Black Queen or Oneiroi - Set some time later. The entire universe is now severely breaking under the burden of the disintegrating cosmos, and nobody can stop it. Yossi
6. SCP or Tale - The truth is revealed. We are in a simulation, and by saving ourselves from the pattern screamers we doomed the Universe to a slow, agonizing program crash. BlazingTrail
6.5 Tale - Set some time later. The universe is basically dead. Time is no longer real. Probability is no longer real. The universe is stagnant, static, and meaningless. Consciousness is nothing and everything that exists. A 3999-style surreal story with weirdness - like Like Clockwork BlazingTrail??
7. Tale - In the final moment of the Universe, whatever remains appeals to the computer and the creators to save them. The reader must decide how doomsday ends. TheeSherm and BlazingTrail?
Any of the above may be rearranged or combined as appropriate when we figure it out.
Hymne A L'Amour

Fuck! The Tale starts with someone waking up in an apocalypse of people vs Screamers, getting picked up and trained by the Foundation, given the “use this ONLY WHEN NECCESSARY” vial amongst the way, and at the end it bookends with the opening.

A SPARK INTO THE NIGHT
"The truth will set you free. But not until it is finished with you."
—David Foster Wallace, Infinite Jest
The end of all things begins with a question, shouted out into the infinite night—a question, that when heard, can only be answered with hell and silence. This series is about the answer to that question. Yes, there is a coherent motif/theme to all this; and yes, the questions this article poses have very concrete answers. Stay tuned. Don't forget to read the exploration log supplement!

EXPLORATION LOG XXXX-UA-13C
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token…
A continuation, of sorts, to SCP-3426. Wasn't sure whether to make it a tale or a supplement; eventually went with supplement. Hopefully you pick up on the various imagery and hints embedded throughout the piece—there's callbacks to SCPs that are important in the overall arc of this series. Thanks to those who critted SCP-3426 and this article as well.
[10:18] TL333s "It is believed that the occurrence of SCP-XXXX is widespread and possibly universally present." would be a little tighter as "widespread, possibly universal."
[10:24] TL333s I feel like the second- and third-to-last paragraphs of the description are just kind of hammering the idea
[10:24] TL333s like, the designation of the K-class scenario is obviously important
[10:24] TL333s but you could probably roll the "how we're researching this" bit into the final paragraph, alongside the scenario title
[10:25] TL333s it's the penultimate paragraph that feels most redundant
[10:26] TL333s "no clear leader of governmental system" should that be 'or'?
[10:26] TL333s yeah, all these lists of what's happened to planets are giving much better info than that paragraph
[10:27] TL333s could probably just say "two-dimensional shimmering, gray film"?
[10:27] TL333s I always try and avoid quote marked phrases if possible
[10:41] TL333s the handwritten note is maybe a little over-explainy
[10:41] TL333s I mean, if they're missing half their words, you'd think they'd have a little more trouble telling what's going on
[10:42] TL333s probably more missing concepts or half-finished sentences like what come up at the end?
[10:52] TL333s how do you determine an atom thick later of material is removed? c.c
[10:52] TL333s also whoa, that drone is fast, 8 km in 9 minutes?
[10:52] TL333s "all words and iconography on the signs appear as unreadable and perceive as black bars to any that view the feed" first thought, just say they appear as black bars to viewers
[10:52] TL333s second, how does anyone know black bars are covering up words or iconography in the first place?
[11:02] TL333s I'll note the sphere in that paragraph is listed as being completely impenetrable and completely statis
[11:02] TL333s *static
[11:02] TL333s k
[11:02] TL333s I will babble at myself for now :V
[11:02] TL333s how they know it's impenetrable at first glance is a mystery
[11:02] TL333s also how they know there was a building under it
[11:09] TL333s at timestamp 18:55, they find a readable sign; I feel like maybe you shouldn't make any bones about why it might be readable and let the reader wonder
[11:13] TL333s "at least thousands of source" why the 'at least'?
[11:15] TL333s yeah, this is getting more and more prosaic as it goes on
[11:16] TL333s that note at the bottom is neat
[11:16] TL333s okay, I would say get some more eyes on this; the article is good, the log is interesting but less well-written, and you'll need people to read the first so they can give suggestions to the latter
[11:16] TL333s my main concern is the gradual tonal shift towards the end of the log
[11:31] TL333s generally speaking, be sure to only note what is observable, though it does sound like there's at least some sort of inference going on because of the anomalous nature of the recording itself?
[11:33] TL333s admittedly, the tremendous amount of wtf going on is going to cause a lot of quote mark phrasings to be necessary
[11:33] TL333s there's just no other way to describe some of this
[11:33] TL333s avoid stuff like "screaming noises"; it's just screaming, that's fine
[11:33] TL333s I'm also looking askance at "blood-red"
[11:33] TL333s that's not as bad, but I suppose still along the same lines of extra-dramatic description
[11:34] TL333s starting at 78:23:30 is where things get a good bit less formal
[11:35] TL333s the 'seemingly infinitely' and so forth
[11:35] TL333s the whole "shredding effect" line is wonky
[11:37] TL333s oh yeah, and definitely drop "bizarre"
[11:37] TL333s I think you do achieve that
[11:37] TL333s thinking about it a bit more, if there's meant to be more to this than universal unraveling imagery and pattern screamers, I'm not picking it up
[11:37] TL333s though if that's all there is, I really can't argue
[11:38] Modulum there's a lot more to it but it's supposed to be revealed in later parts
[11:38] Modulum I don't know if you're ok to spoil our big twist or not
[11:39] TL333s oh, no, don't spoil it for me here
[11:39] TL333s I'm sure I'll read these as they come out!
[11:39] Modulum cool
[11:39] Modulum but yeah keep in mind that this is basically to set up the themes and the mystery
[11:39] Modulum you're not supposed to understand "why" or "how" quite yet
[11:39] TL333s the log at least provides a lot of surrealism to chew on, and the article provides solid foundation, so I'm okay with waiting for payoff
[11:40] TL333s sounds like you're where you want to be, then!
[11:40] Modulum anyways, thank you so much for the crit
[11:40] Modulum I'll make sure to rework that last part of the log
[11:40] TL333s no problem
[11:40] TL333s has your team put out any articles yet?
[11:40] Modulum not yet
[11:40] Modulum this is supposed to be the first one, actually
[11:40] TL333s okay, that explains a few things too
[11:40] Modulum hence why it serves the purpose it does
[11:40] Modulum yup
