Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a standard safe-deposit box at Site-139. All testing requests must be submitted to the current SCP-XXXX project head (currently Dr. Samuel Silva) for approval.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a silver ring with a three carat sapphire gemstone embedded in the band. When SCP-XXXX is worn by a human, both the gemstone and the irises of the subject will begin to glow pale blue. For approximately ten minutes following the initial donning of SCP-XXXX, the subject will experience vivid and violent dream-like hallucinations.
Immediately following the conclusion of the hallucinations, a humanoid figure vaguely resembling the wearer will manifest. This entity, designated SCP-XXXX-A, is semi-incorporeal in nature, and can only be interacted with by the wearer. SCP-XXXX-A is hostile to any human wearing SCP-XXXX, and will invariably attempt to strangle or otherwise mutilate the throat of the wearer. SCP-XXXX-A will demanifest immediately upon removal of SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX came to Foundation attention in July of 2004, after a Iranian man named Mahmud Daryush was found dead in the Tsitsernakaberd Museum-Institute in Yerevan, Armenia. Mr. Daryush, a known member of the Office for the Reclamation of Islamic Artifacts, had put on SCP-XXXX in his attempt to take the object from the museum, leading to his death. Local media coverage of the robbery was picked up by Foundation media scanners, who then dispatched Agents Zahir Yousef and Azad Mehdi to recover the object. How the ORIA became aware of the existence of SCP-XXXX is currently unknown, but it is believed that the organization was interested in the object for its historical and monetary value.
Addedum XXXX-1: Interview Log
Interview XXXX-1
Interviewer: Dr. Silva
Interviewed: D-9833
Foreword: Following the first testing of SCP-XXXX that did not result in loss of life, D-9833 was interviewed regarding their experiences.
<BEGIN LOG>
Dr. Silva: Alright D-9833, I'd like to discuss today's test. Can you please explain to me what happened when you after you put the ring on?
D-9833: Yeah okay. So I put the ring on, and I immediately get all light-headed. Like, you know that feeling when your vision starts to fade and you realize you're blacking out? That's what happened. Felt like I passed out. Woke up in a nice, but old-timey kitchen, holding a tray of some kinda pastry. I looked up and saw two kids running at me all excited and shouting stuff I didn't understand. They looked pretty well-off by their clothes, and they saw that tray of stuff and looked super happy about it. Sitting at the table was a man, probably their father? I remember sitting at the table next to him, watching the kids tear into this dessert thing, and then I heard a lot of banging and screaming coming from outside.
Dr. Silva: Who was screaming?
D-9833: It sounded kind of far away, maybe a few houses down? The man looked out the window and then bolted. He grabbed the kids and ran out the back door. I followed him, and as we got maybe 10 feet out of the house, we heard gunshots and people shouting. Didn't understand what they were saying either.
Dr. Silva: Were you moving of your own volition during this hallucination?
D-9833: I really don't know. Like, you know how when you dream, you don't really think about moving? You just kinda move. It was like that. I did things and didn't think about why.
Dr. Silva: Understood. Please continue.
D-9833: Right, so we got outside and we're running down the street. I hear the shouting behind us, and more gunshots. I looked over my shoulder and just saw smoke rising from somewhere further away in the city. When I looked forward again, I saw dozens of trucks filled with soldiers. They were going house to house, taking whatever they wanted and then lighting the place on fire when they were done. Anybody they found was either shot or left to burn.
Dr. Silva: Can you describe the soldiers?
D-9833: Yeah, a lot of them were in tan uniforms with a leather ammo belt on their waist, and they all had bolt-action rifles. There were a few others in white with these head wraps on, and a few of them had a sword and this red hat on, I think they were officers.
Dr. Silva: Noted. Can you describe the city itself?
D-9833: I was in a row home, but not like you'd see in like an American city or anything like that. These houses looked like old-school cottages, but smashed together. Off in the distance I could see a big tan clock tower, looked pretty damn new. The whole place was crumbling in front of us, and all the smoke in the air made it hard to breathe.
Dr. Silva: So when you saw the soldiers, what did you do?
D-9833: I did what anyone would've done, I kept running and hoped they didn't see me. Behind me, I could hear more gunshots and screaming, but all I could focus on was getting the fuck out of there. The man and kids were in front of me, and we could hear the shouting coming from all around us, so we just kept running. We ended up stopping in an alleyway to catch our breath, and we saw some more soldiers come by loading a ton of corpses into the back of a truck. After that, we got moving again, but about halfway down the street, we got spotted. I grabbed the kids and booked it. Heard some gunshots and some more yelling, and before I knew it, we ran right into another group of them.
D-9833 pauses and takes a deep breath.
D-9833: They dragged us by our fucking hair across the streets like animals for a few blocks, and then picked us up. We were in front of a mass grave, filled with dozens of charred corpses. The soldiers yelled at the boy, and he stood up. He was screaming and crying , and the officer raised his rifle and just shot him right in the head so he fell into the grave. Then they yelled at the girl, but she didn't make a sound. She just looked at me with tears in her eyes until they shot her. I turned to see the officer raising his rifle. He shot me right in the chest, but I didn't die. They didn't care, and just kicked me into the grave. An officer jumped down, smiled at me, and took the ring off of my finger. When he removed the ring, I was back in the chamber.
Dr. Silva: Thank you D-9833, that will be all.
<END LOG>
Note: Given the details provided by D-9833 of the soldiers, city, and events that were hallucinated as a result of wearing SCP-XXXX, as well as the circumstances of discovery, it is currently hypothesized that the hallucinations induced by SCP-XXXX depict the Adana Massacre of 1909.
