SCP-4407.

Item #: SCP-4407

Object Class: Neutralized

Archived Special Containment Procedures: A secure perimeter 50 meters in radius is to be established around SCP-4407. Instances of SCP-4407-1 are to keep performing assigned tasks at all times. Once per week, a chicken is to be ritually sacrificed in a manner consistent with ancient Greek religious ceremonies on the altar located inside of SCP-4407-2. SCP-4407-1 instances are to be given sufficient amounts of food and water.

Archived Description: SCP-4407 is the ████████ Glass Factory in [REDACTED]. Members of the manufacturing workforce of said factory are designated SCP-4407-1 instances. Instances of SCP-4407-1 are impervious to injury, disease, age and exhaustion as long as they are performing their assigned tasks on the assembly line or other parts of the factory. Autopsies performed on deceased instances have shown that they are biologically human, but suffering from the effects of extreme age, starvation, dehydration and sleep deprivation despite appearing physically healthy. If an instance stops performing an assigned task for more than 1 hour, they will die via unknown means. SCP-4407-1 instances are incapable of speaking except for the phrase "This is the blessing of Ponos1" in ancient Greek though they can communicate via other means.

SCP 4407-2 is a shrine to Ponos, located in what was once the employee cafeteria. Building plans and city records show that the shrine was added in a renovation that occurred in early 1950. Materials necessary for the creation of glass products created by SCP-4407materialize in SCP-4407-2 from an unknown source. If an animal sacrifice is not performed on the altar in SCP-4407-2 at least once per week, the SCP-4407-1 instances will start to experience normal biological processes. Due to their condition, this can severely impact their ability to perform their assigned tasks and would quickly result in their deaths if not addressed.

Discovery: SCP-4407came to the Foundation's attention in May, 2000 shortly after the death of Basil Nikopopolus, the last living member of the Nikopopolus family.2 After Basil's death, the Foundation raided his home on suspicion of anomalous activity. During this operation several objects of interest were discovered including files on SCP-4407. An MTF team was sent to investigate and, after confirming the presence of the anomaly, a Foundation presence was created at SCP-4407. Several instances of SCP-4407-1 were voluntarily terminated at this time and the current containment procedures were drafted so as to keep the remaining instances alive.

History: The history of SCP-4407 was determined from files obtained from Basil's residence and from historical archives. Evidence from the factory's logbooks shows that the machinery within the factory has been in continuous operation since it was first completed on 7 December, 1953. Police records from this time period have also indicated that members of the family were suspected in the disappearance of several runaways, migrant workers, and other transients from the area, although nothing was ever conclusively proven. Company leadership had changed several times within the period that SCP-4407was active, with the son and grandson of company founder [REDACTED] Nikopopolus taking over the position of president successively. However, the company officially filed for bankruptcy in 1989. Despite this, SCP-4407 has continued activity since it's creation and been renovated several times. All products created by SCP-4407 have been stored in the factory's basement or recycled for raw materials.

Update: On December 28, 2018, SCP-4407 was destroyed in a raid by GoI-2182, The Human Liberation Front3 Due to SCP-4407's low priority, only a small number of guards had been active at the site at the time of the assault. Security cameras at the site show GoI-2182 members disguised as SCP-4407-1 instances killing the guard at the front entrance before infiltrating the facility. The GoI-2182 members placed improvised explosive devices along critical structural points then evacuated the building before remotely detonating the explosives causing SCP-4407to collapse. All instances of SCP-4407-1 along with two Foundation guards were killed in this incident.

Addendum 4407, Propaganda flyer found near the scene:

Workers of the World Unite!
The Human Liberation Front's goal is to free all enslaved workers around the globe and bring about a utopian Marxist society. For too long, our fellow working-class men and women have been bound by the chains of capitalism and the false light of superstition. We must not allow atrocities whether mundane or occult against our brothers and sisters to continue, we must break the chains and free them for the good of all mankind!

The bodies of the SCP-4407-1 instances were recovered by the GoI-2182 members and taken to an unknown location. Further investigation is ongoing.
