It's a few hours since whatever the hell happened did. The ringing in my ears still hasn't gone away, and I'm still dizzy as the devil. Looks like most of the horses got spooked off, but we still have a good few tied up outside. Speaking of outside, I ain't ever seen so much green before in my life. We is going to check it out tonight.
Sheriff Boone is fixin' to hold a town meeting at Barney's soon; including all the out of towners. Hopefully, we can figure something out.
Everyone is spooked to shit.
Mary, Jesibelle, and Anette's kids all died pretty much as soon as we got to this place, they're in god damned hysterics. Folks be saying they seeing giant critters in the distance out their windows, but I ain't seen shit. No one knows what in tarnation is going on. The out of towners all want to get the hell out of here, but Sheriff Boone says ain't no one leaving until we find out what's happenin.
We still got food in Merle's shop, but we gotta start rationing it. It also looks like the well didn't make it here with us, so Sheriff Boone is makin a posse to find a water supply. He figures with all these plants there must be water around somewhere. We buried the kids by the church after.
Im in charge of the town until the posse and the Sheriff come back.
Something came in the middle of the night and dug up the kids corpses. Ate most of em too.
Father Jacob says he saw them, says they were demons covered in feathers with fangs and claws. I ain't sayin I don't believe Father Jacob, as he is a holy man, but there ain't no birds leavin tracks so big. But it wasn't coyotes for sure. Aint no coyote I ever seen dig that deep and make such a mess.
Father Jacob is convinced they're demons though, he thinks we's in Hell.
He's gone and did it now.
Folks are in a panic because of Father Jacob tonight, he was preaching that we's in hell, we's sinners, and this is our punishment.Even the out of towners are panicked. I pray to God ain't no one try to form a mob, there is only one me, and a lot of them.
Anette hung herself in her house. Left a note sayin' the real hell is life without her daughter.
Sheriff Boone and the others are back, they got water and brought back some plants they think we can eat. They say they saw these giant critters, scaled like snakes but walking on 4 legs. Says they was bigger than a bison. Didn't say nothin about feathers.
Folks have settled down a little now but Father Jacob is still preaching doom. Everyone is listenin more to him than ever before. I can't reckon I agree that this is Hell. This place feels too close to life.
Sheriff Boone made everyone stay inside for some time today after hearing some sound. These giant beasts came walkin through town a little while later, said he had seen them while he was out. They was huge and horned, and looked like what a bison would if it was part snake. Spooked the devil out of the horses, and we lost some more of em. Those beasts also did a number on the out of towner's caravans, smashed em up real bad. They was real mad after.
Food is startin to run low, too. We been here for a week I think, and Merle's ain't got much left for us to eat and the chickens only lay so many eggs. A few of the townsfolk are volunteering to form a huntin posse. Sheriff Boone is fixin to stay behind this time, says hes afraid of the big critters come by and killing everyone.
Most of the out of towners left in the dead of night. Stabbed up Merle after taking what was left of the food and a handful of horses. Folks are getting antsy. We is going to kill one of the old horses so we can feed the hunting posse.
Only upsides to those godless folks leavin and killing Merle is they left behind a bunch of dynamite. Guess they was prospectors heading to California.
Theres a light in the sky brighter than most the other stars. Father Jacob says its a sign of the end, but most everyone else says its a shooting star. My ma used to tell me that making wishes on them was good luck. I hope we's get out of here soon.
I'm fixing to apologize to Father Jacob. I saw one of those demons today after dinner with my own two eyes. Its neck was long winding and itlooked like a feathered snake. It had arms and legs with claws, and this long tail… I got no words other than 'devil' for it. That POS was tryin to dig at Merle and Anette's graves. I shot at it and it ran off faster than a train.
Father Jacob and a few others saw it clear as day too. I got a bad feeling about tomorrows sermon.
Us being in hell seems a lot more real. Everyone turning on one another and aint no one trust anyone no more. Except Father Jacob at least. We's all here because we's sinners. I lived my life thinking I was a man of God. Did I somethin wrong? I must have, otherwise I wouldn't be in here.
Sherif Boone says not to listen to Father Jacob too much, says we got bigger things to worry about. I reckon he's got some sense in him, but I really question who I trust right now.
The hunting posse came back with a giant lizard in their wagon. I ain't seen nothing like it before. One of the few out of towners left said it looked like a gator, and he'd seen one in Louisiana, but a lot smaller. This critter is one hell of a catch, we's going to feast for days off it.
Sheriff Boone made everyone hide inside again this morning. This time the biggest monster I've ever seen appeared. It was so big it made the ground shake with its steps. Picked up what was left of the lizard and made off with it as if it was nothing. We's goin to need to go for a second hunting round. I'm going this time and Sheriff Boone is fixin to stay. We's leavin at first light tomorrow.
I never thought I'd see heaven in a hellscape. Its so strange that a place so evil could be so beautiful. Me, Red, Slim, and Pete left with what we could carry. We walked till the sun was high in the sky with no luck. We's climbed a mountain, too. I aint never seen such beauty in my life. The forest looked like it went on forever, there was flowers, and above it all, shining brightly was God's blue sky.
Just when we was getting comfortable though these giant demons started flying round and landed not too far.. They looked like skinned buzzards with the devils own eyes, and they was as big as a horse. We ran down like a bat outta hell and stopped to rest before heading out again. How the hell did Sheriff Boone manage this?
That light in the sky feels like its getting brighter. I keep prayin we'll get out of this hell but it ain't seem to be working.
We's been searching for two days, and we only found a little food. Some big eggs, fruit from a strange tree and a varmint Slim shot. We need to turn back. We can't be gone for much more. I cant reckon but feel as if I'm bein watched.
Crow's Squawks
Those varmints showed up again in the middle of the night. Ate all our food too. We're getting desperate. We made inventory of what we had and we only had a weeks rations at most. Our sick and young won't live much longer. It ain't right. They didn't deserve this. None of us do.

There's talk of a search. Sheriff Boone wants him and some men to go out and find food. I don't know what's out there, but the town agreed it's our only hope. Ive been selected to join the search. I've only been given tonight to prepare. I have some water and my rifle. Dont think ill ever truly be prepared. We leave at daybreak. God-willing, we will return in two days.

I never thought I'd see heaven in a hellscape. It seems so strange that a place so evil could be so beautiful. We left the camp at dawn. Sheriff Boone, me and three other men. We walked about an hour away from town, with no luck. Eventually we made it to the top of a mountain. Ive never seen such beauty in my life. The forest, dark and endless, looked like rolling green pasture. Flying creatures took off from the trees looking soaring through the air. Colorful flowers bloomed throughout; I had never seen such color in my life! The ocean was visible, and I could hear the waves. Above it all, shining brightly was God's blue sky.

Sheriff Boone is dead. We had almost returned to the town. We were only a day away. A demon 15 feet tall, with sharp, horrid teeth and a long tail ambushed us and quickly attacked. We were weak but we mustered up the strength to defend ourself. We shot at it but it was ineffective. After sustained, fire we injured the beast. Enraged, it lashed out at us, biting off Sheriff Boone's arm, gun and all, before collapsing. He bled out shortly after. He sacrificed himself so we could live. He was brave and selfless and this goddamn hell took him from us. He was righteous. He never deserved this. We have to go on. We will take his body back to town. We will not forget him like God has forgotten us.

We have returned. Our food is meager and our sick are weaker. There was barely enough food to feed us tonight. I fear Boone's sacrifice was in vain.

We buried Sheriff Boone today. Father Jacob gave a sermon. I ain't never seen such a funeral like that. It rained like hell. Think it might've kept the monsters away. They usually try to get at the bodies, but I ain't seen any. He was a good man. I don't know what to think.

Someone stole my water. I woke up this morning and it wasn't there. It was my last supply. Wasn't a varmint, I woulda heard it. Gotta be someone in town. I can't trust anyone here.

FINAL ENTRY:
It wasn't an angel. God sent his wrath from the sky instead of mercy. There was an explosion and sky darkened. Everyone is gone. Father Jacob never said hell was cold.
PROPOSED JOURNAL 7: Today the sheriff had a group of us tear down the general store. He's tasked the men with building barricades for the houses and the saloon, which we've been using as a meeting place. The demons are coming more often now, almost everyday. He says this is the only way we'll be safe. I honestly can't believe its come to this. The store was Merle's pride and joy. It woulda killed him if he were here to see it. The light in the sky seems to be getting brighter. I hope its a good sign. Father Jacob is doing his best to keep up our morale but to little effect. I fear this place is corrupting us.
PROPOSED JOURNAL 8: A flood of small lizard-like demons came through the town today, looking like a biblical plague. At least four townsfolk are dead, and two are missing. We can only fear the worst. Sheriff Boone suspects they smell the bodies of our fallen townsfolk that we buried recently. The graves were clawed and one was half dug up. On the sheriff's orders, we are to start throwing the bodies in the river without a casket. Father Jacob is furious, says it ain't right to not give them a proper Christian burial, but Sheriff Boone insists it's the only way to stop the attacks. They had a fight in town square and Father Jacob stormed off to the chapel. The whole town is worried now. We're preparing for trouble; There's a storm rolling in from the west. I can't shake the thought that it's an omen.
