Special Containment Procedures: Currently, SCP-XXXX itself is stored in a spacious safe-class storage locker within Site-88. When not in a strict testing and research environment, SCP-XXXX's opening must be hermetically sealed in order to prevent cross contamination and/or spillage of SCP-XXXX's internal contents. Access to SCP-XXXX may be permitted to personnel possessing 2/XXXX clearance or higher once a formal request has been made to the current research head of the SCP-XXXX project.

Exploration of SCP-XXXX-1 is solely permitted to members of MTF ζ-68 ("Maze Madness") at the discretion of the SCP-XXXX research head at this time.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a ceramic urn filled with an indeterminable amount of corn seeds directly siphoning into an expansive extradimensional space of indeterminate size hereafter designated SCP-XXXX-1.

Attributively, SCP-XXXX-1 physically resembles the rural-most areas of the midwestern United States; however, numerous topographical and environmental features differ to varying degrees. The sky of SCP-XXXX-1 typically takes on a yellowish-hued coloration, with orange clouds of unknown composition typically present, and the only floral and faunal entities present are comprised entirely of Zea mays (domestic corn). Human habitation has also been largely noted in SCP-XXXX-1.

SCP-XXXX-1 is instantaneously accessible through verbal communication of humorous corn-based wordplay. Upon communication of such a phrase, subjects will be transmuted into an intangible mass of corn seeds, which will levitate into SCP-XXXX and slowly filter into SCP-XXXX-1, wherein the subject will regain their original form. Furthermore, upon transmuting back into their original form, subjects will instantaneously become acutely aware of the sole communicative language utilized by all inhabitants of SCP-XXXX-1.

Discovery: SCP-XXXX was recovered from Kansas' 2018 Chase County Regional Fair, after reports of over 35 individuals vanishing at the event reached local news outlets. Various witnesses described the visual disappearances as "turning into corn", leading to Foundation interference.

Exploration Log: Shortly after the retrieval of SCP-XXXX, Agents Sebastian Weathers and Isabelle Welles revealed the exact nature of SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties by inadvertently triggering it. After forcibly entering SCP-XXXX-1, contact with the two agents was established, leading to an impromptu investigation of the SCP-XXXX's extra-dimensional plane.

At 5:31 AM, audio and video recordings of SCP-XXXX-1 begin to upload to the nearest Automatic Wireless Retrieval Instrument (A.W.R.I), located within a stable orbit around Venus. Due to Welles' and Weathers' tracking devices, their previous location is listed as Kansas, and the current location data is patched through to Site-11. 8 minutes later, this data reaches Site-11, and continual contact is established with Site-11 Mission Support.

Mission Support: Agents Welles and Weathers, can you hear us?

Weathers: It seems that we can, yes.

Due to unknown and most likely anomalous reasons, there is no communication delay, despite the listed location of the previously-missing agents being on a foreign celestial body.

Mission Support: We can see your surroundings through the video feed, but could you please fill us in on what happened within the 3 hours since your disappearance?

Welles: From what we can tell, we turned into corn, and we got transported to whatever this place is.

Weathers: That's basically what happened, and for us, it's been only a few minutes since we woke up here.

M.S: Are you currently injured or noticing any abnormal symptoms?

Welles: Well no, but we did get launched out of the ground and into a pile of hay. There's not any injuries from what I can tell, but my knees ache somewhat.

M.S: Alright then, with that out of the way, it's time to cover the situation back home. From what we can tell, the demiplane you were transported to is on Venus, although you don't seem to currently be in contact within that planet. What are the overall surroundings where you are?

Weathers: We definitely seem to be on a planet of sorts though, there's a sun, yellow sky, relaxed wind, and an unusual amount of corn.

M.S: Well, until we get the thaumaturgical team in, or you two find an exit in that place, then there's really nothing we can do right now.

Welles: I've never worked with the thaumaturgy team, do you have an idea of how long that will take?

M.S: I'm not sure, but considering you both are in a stable environment, I'd say a maximum of a week.

Weathers: That isn't too bad, to be honest. Assuming that the plants are corn, and isn't something else that just looks like corn, we can survive three days on the rations we have with us, and most likely live the next four on corn.

Welles: Also, there doesn't seem to be any visible water, but seeing by the dampness of the ground right now, there's probably some we could filter. It also doesn't seem to be too hot either, maybe around the 70-75 degrees range, even with the sun in a noon-like position.

M.S: In that case, other than just surviving, there's a few things we'd like you to do, all are just normal testing procedures.

Welles: The norm of dirt samples, foliage samples, check for other life and structures?

M.S: Affirmative, that's exactly it.

Weathers: Well, in that case, we'll keep the line open, and we'll let you know if we see something that you can't through the camera.

M.S: We'll be here when you get there.

Roughly 20 minutes pass as Agents Weathers and Welles make their way towards the visible trees.

Welles: Well, we're here, and these aren't trees.

M.S: Copy that, could you get a sample?

Welles: Yes, and these not-trees also seem to be just really big, really weird corn.

Weathers: They have the general structure of trees, but the trunks seem to be stalks, and there's some corn hanging on it like fruit.

Welles: I've just collected a sample of the trunk, and it appears that there's actually corn syrup running through the plant. I shouldn't need to get an extra sample for that though, since a pretty big drop went in with the trunk sample.

M.S: One thing we'd like to suggest though, and this was Robert's idea, but would you try climbing up the tree to get a better vantage point?

Weathers: Certainly, just give us a minute.

M.S: Of course.

Several minutes pass as the pair climb up the plant, getting roughly 30 feet off the ground before stopping.

Welles: We were able to get up here because it doesn't look like the plant's been pruned recently, and the branches are very solid.

Weathers: Doesn't look like we can get much higher though, so this will have to do.

M.S: So what exactly is visible? We can't see very much through the foliage.

Welles: Everything seems like a flat field of corn, with the exception of random patches of corn trees once in a while. I do see some sprinkler rows, that must be how the corn's watered.

Weathers: Hey wait, I see a barn over there.

M.S: And about how far away is it?

Weathers: Looks to be about three miles away, although it's hard to tell with how flat everything is. We could get there in around an hour, actually.

Extraneous dialogue is removed. Roughly an hour and 10 minutes pass, and the pair reach the barn.

Welles: Alright, Sebastian, you keep your gun at the ready when I knock.

Agent Welles walks up to the large door of the barn, and proceeds to recoil.

M.S: Is everything alright over there?

Weathers: Isabelle?

Agent Welles walks backwards slowly towards Weathers, and draws her weapon.

Welles: I saw it through the hole, there's something in there.

M.S: Could you describe it, please?

Weathers: Is it moving?

Welles: No, it was standing up against the door. I didn't get a good look at it, but it looked shriveled.

M.S: Hang tight, we're currently going over what the recommended course of action is.

The sound of a door opening at the side of the barn is clearly audible, Agents Weathers and Welles jump at the noise before focusing their guns towards its source.

Weathers: Whoever you are, come out slowly, and stop moving. We're armed.

No sound is audible for several seconds. Welles motions for Weathers to follow her, and moves back towards the main door, and opens it.

Welles: There's nothing here.

After the discovery that hostile, sapient entities exist within SCP-XXXX-1, MTF ζ-68 ("Maze Madness") was dispatched to recover an instance for study, and to additionally recover Agent Welles. Due to MTF ζ-68's thaumaturgical expertise in successfully returning from demiplanes and extra-dimensional spaces, they have been chosen for the exploration of SCP-XXXX-1.
