Basic Layout/Structure
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: (ConProcs)
Description: (1. Describe the camera physically and the basic nature of the anomaly.)
(2. Describe in more detail the anomaly, including visual appearance of scp-xxxx-1.)
(3+. Describe any remaining particular details)
Addendum 1: (Recovery Log - a short account of how the Foundation came to find out about the scp.)
Addendum 2: (Testing Log - a series of experiments. Begin with simple tests involving D-class to establish baseline behaviour / determine the SCP is safe to test with. Eventually Foundation personnel can be in pictures as well, or maybe upload their own photos to the camera.)
Addendum 3: (*optional* Update to in-the-field investigation efforts - an Agent has successfully backtraced ownership of the camera to it's original owner. Possible opportunity to state a more definitive origin, if needed.)

- Working Notes
Space saver.
Writer-to-writer messages.
We can just add messages here as we work, for the other to see later. Will be more convenient than constant WikiPMs or necessarily needing to meet up in chat to discuss ideas.
I've put some very basic worknotes on the next tab here, based on what I understand the idea to be so far and some things for us to think about with regard to the potential direction. If there's anything there that you believe is off the mark, let me know how we can set it straight; if these basics look to be all in order, we can begin expanding on things in more detail.
I'll confess now that, while I'm pretty good at handling bureaucratic/clinical tone and phrasing things to sound professional, actually writing emotional content into stories is something of a weak point for me. So we'll likely be counting on you for inventing more of the emotional aspects of the SCP's backstory (even if the details are left more vague and mysterious in the actual article, it is better for an author to have a fuller understanding of the thing themselves).
I'll check up on the page here occasionally for updates or new messages; feel free to get at me in the chat if I'm on.
Very well, I hope to contact you today so we can get started, but for now I will add the Item #, Object Class, Special Containment Procedures, and the Description just to make things a little easier for now. I am at least hoping we can fully finish the containment procedures, and maybe a little bit of the description today. I will be frequently checking this for new responses.
I believe we should aim to keep the complications of how the anomaly works as simple as possible, in order to put more focus on the real interesting part of the article (which should come out in the Test Log portion, I think). If we limit the way it works to something simple and relatively easy to contain, we can spend less of the reader's attention on overelaborate ConProcs and establishing the rules of how it operates, and more on showing them the meat of the story.
I've put a few more thoughts/ideas I had on the next tab, just potential angles to consider (we may or may not use them). Let me know what you think, or feel free to add to the list; we can evaluate our options as we go and consider the best way to structure the article.
The idea is quite nice and I feel like this is a good way to make the reader sad, and also feel bad for the entity.
Under tab Draft 2 above I put a basic blueprint of the order I think the article should go in. I think Addendum 2 (Testing) will be the biggest and most important part, so I added an extra tab on this table for our Working Notes just for it. This is just rough notes, only for us in the brainstorming phase, so don't worry about clinical tone and just list possible ideas in the same format as that first example I've put. I'll check in on the page tomorrow night, I look forward to seeing what you may come up with.
To lay out ideas, working details, and other stuff.

Basic Pitch: A ghostly-looking person who appears in photographs stored on this particular camera. They mainly tend to appear only in photos of good times.
Additional Elaboration: This SCP may be the ghost of a person who had an unhappy life; appearing in these photos is some form of attempt at being a part of more pleasant experiences. Through examples and implications of where and how it chooses to manifest (or not) and how, the article should attempt to make the reader curious, and then reveal the SCP's character in subtle ways.

Ideas
The Anomaly Itself
- A Digital Camera
- An SLR camera of reasonably good quality.
- Note: Manufacturer, make/model details, memory/digital storage capacity, etc.
- Requires a display screen. Image files, when copied or transferred to any storage device other than in the camera, contain no traces of the anomaly.
- The entity itself, visible in the photographs
- Huamnoid, shadowy, has eyes, …
- Typically manifests in the background of photos where people appear to be smiling or enjoying themselves.
- Personality: ?
- Background Story: ?
- Additional Conditions / Considerations
- The range of images it can access / how it does?
- Are all pictures permanently altered, or does the entity appear in only one picture at a time?
- Any image within the camera's internal memory storage may potentially be affected.
- Images taken by a different camera and loaded onto SCP-XXXX via external drive (i.e.: SD card chip) possible? (?)
…
- The entity is kept in containment with those 5 devices.
- The entity can breach containment if another device is near it.
- Staff must put their devices in a box outside of the containment chamber to avoid breach.

- Discovery of SCP
- Online posting (maybe invoke GOI Parawatch) - some guy claims he's got a bunch of ghost pics. As the scp effect does not transfer to his uploaded images he is easily covered up as a hoax.
- One photo taken - by his camera phone of the display screen of the SCP-XXXX camera's display screen - although it is of poor image quality, does in fact show the SCP-XXXX-1 ghost. Foundation followed up and took the camera.
- This guy says he got it at a pawn shop. A subsequent investigation to find the previous owners of the camera is undertaken by Field Agents.
- Interview with a person who knew SCP-4XXX-1 in life.
- The foundation gets hold of a person that knew SCP-4XXX-1 in life, and is theorizing that the entity in the images are him.
- The person tells the interviewer that SCP-4XXX-1 is happy again, and should be left alone.
Article/Story Background Ideas
- Clues To Backstory
- Reveal partial details to hint at original owner of camera.
- A short account of the object's recovery, follow-up investigation.
- Researcher Friend
- A particular subject has participated in enough experiments / photo shoots that the entity appears to act more familiar to them in all pictures they are present in. (?)

Ideas
1)
Test Circumstances: Six D-Class subjects were photographed while playing a match of 3-on-3 basketball.
Original Picture: Team A has just scored the winning point and are huddled together celebrating.
Alterations: SCP-XXXX-1 can be seen at the sideline nearby; it appears to be clapping its hands in applause.
Author Notes: Just a simple early test to establish baseline behaviour.
2)
Test Circumstances: Six D-Class subjects were photographed while playing a match of 3-on-3 basketball.
Original Picture: Player from Team B is contesting a foul called. Himself and an opposing player from Team A are shouting angrily at each other.
Alterations: SCP-XXXX-1 did not manifest.
Author Notes: Just a simple early test to establish baseline behaviour.
3)
Test Circumstances: A D-Class subject was photographed while having contact with SCP-███
Original Picture: SCP-███ is huddled against the subject's leg, while the subject smiles at it.
Alterations: SCP-XXXX-1 manifested in the foreground, seemingly 'petting' SCP-███.
Author Notes: Just a simple early test to establish baseline behaviour.
To keep track of feedback received (and to note who from).
(This space will be to make note of what feedback other people give us when we get around to showing off a full draft for critique. Thoughts, ideas, and working notes from us authors should stick to the other tabs.)
