A loud crack of lighting was heard over the sound of pouring rain above the small wooden cabin.
Cimmerian rested on an old rotting couch, as he sipped from a mug of hot chocolate. He watched North failing to ignite the wood that laid within the clay brick fireplace.
“You want help with that?” Cimmerian lazily asked as he sipped from his mug.
“No, Cimmerian, I do not want help… I got this.” North gave a grunt, snapping the match he held in half with the force he struck it with.
Watching North continue to fail, Cimmerian cracked a smirk, the man could be adorable when he was trying to impress.
His boyfriend finally let out an exasperated cry and dropped the box of matches. A thunderous boom exploded over the cabin.
“North, when you invited me out here for the weekend, did you check the forecast?”
As North adjusted his oddly tinted glasses, he turned away from Cimmerian to hide his ‘oh shit’ expression.
“Uh, I did not… Although, the cabin should hold.”
A noticeable pinging was heard as water started to leak through the roof.
“…Fuck.” North quickly rushed into the worn down kitchen, as he started to dig in the cupboards for a pot.
“Hey North, maybe we should just head back home. We can always try this again next weekend.”
“No! No… It’s fine, besides I’m going on a trip next weekend with Doctor Parker for a duel research project at Site-34.”
North sat the pot down under the leak in the cabin’s roof.
“North, we're in the middle of a storm. The roof is leaking, and neither of us knows how to properly lite a fire. Let's just back to the Site, we can try something like this when we put more preparation into it.”
Realizing that Cimmerian was making valid points, North sighed in defeat.
“I suppose, I'll go get our stuff.” North slowly made his way to the bedrooms. Cimmerian couldn't help but notice the sadness wrapped around North.
Setting his mug of hot chocolate down on the table stand, Cimmerian hurried off into the back room.
He Watched as North started to pack each of their bags, Cimmerian rubbed the back of his neck as he sighed.
“I didn’t mean to make you upset, it’s just with the weather and everything, I don’t think it’s a good idea to stay in a leaky cabin. I do mean it when I say we can try this another time.”
North turned to face Cimmerian, a small smile spread across his lips.
“I look forward to doing that with you.”
“Good.” Cimmerian went up beside North starting to help him pack.”
As Cimmerian drove away from the cabin, he looked over to see North laying on his side with his back turned to him. Cimmerian mumbled to himself as he pulled off the main road.
“Huh?” North sat up looking towards Cimmerian.
“I got an idea, how about we head to a hotel for the weekend.”
North perked up, a wide smile came across his face.
“I would really enjoy that Cimmerian.” North let out a quick yawn.
“Get some rest, I’ll wake up once I find a hotel we can spend the night at.”
As he laid back further in his chair, North didn’t take any time to compile with Cimmerians’ suggestion.
“Hey sleepy head, wake up.” Cimmerian tried to shake North awake only to get some mumbles in return.
He took the trilby hat off North’s head and proceeded to lightly slap him with it. North quickly sat up looking confused. He rubbed his eyes as he yawned.
“Hmmm?”
“Good, you’re awake.”
Slowly looking over to Cimmerian, North gave a quick nod and another yawn.
“Come on sleepy head, help me move our bags into our room.”
“Oh… You already check in?” Making his way out of the car North grabbed his bag.
“Well I would've waited for you, but I couldn’t wake you up beforehand.”
Nodding as he rubbed his eyes North looked over to Cimmerian with a smile.
“So where is our room?”
“Just follow me, sleepy head.”
Cimmerian led North through the hotel until they got to their room. As he scanned the keycard he stood to the side to let North enter.
His cheek fluttering a bit when he noticed there was only one bed in the room, North sat his bags down on the dresser beside the bed.
“I’m exhausted Cimmerian… I’m just going to call it for the night.” North didn’t bother to change out of his clothes as he laid at the edge of the bed.
“Oh… Well, that’s a shame… I was going to take a shower.” Cimmerian smirked a bit. “But if you to go to sleep, be my guest. I’ll just go take one alone.”
North’s face turned into cherry as he sat up.
“You know… On seconds thoughts I’m not really tired. I got a good nap in the car.”
