SCP-XXXX-1 (Image taken during recovery)
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 are to be located inside a standard containment locker in Site-28. SCP-XXXX-1 is to be contained in a specially designed plastic sleeve which also has a zipper compartment attached to the front for SCP-XXXX-2 to be placed inside in order to prevent accidentally triggering the objects anomalous effects (SCP-XXXX-2 is to be placed within the compartment prior to SCP-XXXX-1), as well as being placed inside a carbon storage tube when not being used for testing.
Any agents attempting to enter SCP-XXXX-A must be equipped with the following items: A fully charged body camera, at least 3 days of rations, and a fully loaded handgun with extra ammo clip. If an agent does not exit SCP-XXXX-A within 3 days, they are considered lost.
Description: SCP-XXXX consists of two components: SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2.
SCP-XXXX-1 is a photo-negative painting on an 18x24 lightweight sheet of paper. The painting depicts an inverted bovine skull perched on what is presumed to be a human neck bone based on the silhouette. Microscopic analysis of the black powder that makes up the image has been identified as a mixture of standard art industry charcoal and an unknown powder material that through testing, has shown signs of thaumaturgical properties. When an individual makes physical contact with SCP-XXXX-1, they will be transported to a separate reality, which has been designated as SCP-XXXX-A. The effect does not appear to be limited to humans, as any matter (organic or inorganic) making contact with the painting will be transported into SCP-XXXX-A (with the exception of SCP-XXXX-2). Testing has shown that transport into SCP-XXXX-A only occurs when touching the front of SCP-XXXX-1, as touching the blank back of the painting does not trigger its anomalous properties.
SCP-XXXX-2 is a pair of periwinkle latex gloves that was found alongside SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-2 appears to nullify or counteract the anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX-1, as any individual that comes in contact with SCP-XXXX-1 while wearing the gloves do not get transported to SCP-XXXX-A. This also applies to inanimate objects making physical contact with SCP-XXXX-1 while being held by SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-2 is believed to be part of a set of anomalous tools and supplies that has yet to be located (See Document POI-229-XXXX-28).
SCP-XXXX was initially recovered from █████ ██████ Community College in ███████, Pennsylvania after a number of students went missing from the campus, including a student hypothesized to be responsible for the creation of SCP-XXXX (See Addendum 3). The foundation became aware of the incident when reports came in of a teacher who worked at the college’s art campus was suspended from their job due to suspected dimentia after ranting about a magic painting.
Image of SCP-XXXX-A Taken by MTF (See Addendum 1)
SCP-XXXX-A resembles a large desert wasteland of unknown size. The sand in this desert is composed of graphite, charcoal, and a currently unknown substance resembling ground paper dust that is currently under analysis. The sky in SCP-XXXX-A appears similar to a paper with dense random strokes of pencil across it. Despite the massive quantities of charcoal and graphite in the environment, the air appears breathable and individuals do not show any signs of health hazards (See Addendum 1, Exploration Log-XXXX-1).
Inside of SCP-XXXX-A, there are various constructs placed randomly throughout the desert, designated as SCP-XXXX-A1. These constructs seem to be various forms of artwork, made apparent by their initial designs as well as each instance including a brass plaque with engraved writing similar to those found in art museums. A number of these artwork resemble objects and entities currently contained by the foundation or that the foundation has knowledge of. These artworks also possess anomalous properties ranging from visual, auditory, olfactory, physical and mental affects on those who interact with them through various means. Under some circumstances, the causes of which have not been precisely determined, these artworks may animate and become hostile towards any living entities nearby.
Humanoid entities resembling artist mannequins are also found throughout SCP-XXXX-A. These entities, designated as SCP-XXXX-A2, are of varying levels of degradation and modification, with many of them featuring carved faces and clothing. These entities are animate, and are often seen creating instances of SCP-XXXX-A1, although whether these entities are sapient remains unclear. While generally docile, SCP-XXXX-A2 have acted aggressively. It's believed they tend to act aggressively towards those who perceive the artwork inside SCP-XXXX as low quality, or have a low opinion of art in general, it is speculated this might also apply for SCP-XXXX-A1 instances becoming animate.
When an human expires inside of SCP-XXXX, It is believed that they are turned into a new instance of SCP-XXXX-A2. This is supported by the fact that SCP-XXXX-A2 instances resemble both agents who went missing inside of SCP-XXXX-A and some of the missing students from █████ ██████ Community College
To exit SCP-XXXX-A, an entity must touch another piece of artwork inside SCP-XXXX-A designated as SCP-XXXX-B. This piece of artwork is consistently a canvas drawing of a woman on an easel. The location of this drawing seems to change between explorations of SCP-XXXX-A, it is unknown whether this is due to SCP-XXXX-B being mobile or due to instances of SCP-XXXX-A1.
SCP-XXXX is believed to have been created by Joseph Campbell, designated POI-229-XXXX-28, a art student who went missing alongside other students at █████ ██████ Community College. Further details regarding the creation of SCP-XXXX can be found in Addendum 3.

January 28th 1:20 PM “Ten minutes before class”
Today’s the day! My first day of college art class!
I’ve been really looking forward to this moment, now I can share my creative talents and my ideals to others and hopefully increase my chance to share my genius to the rest of the world!
I worked really hard to get to this point and now it’s all going to finally pay off! This will be the starting point for me towards my destiny as a world renown artist!
6:30 PM “Half Hour after class”
Well..It seems not everyone in the class understands my taste in art.
Some of them think my art is a bit “creepy” and/or depressing. So far the worse offender is this sassy stuck up beauty queen named Sarah Milton. I haven’t even known her for one day and already she leaves a bad taste in my mouth! Well they just don’t understand how I see beauty in death and the dark. I’ve always found such concepts fascinating and interesting which is why I’ve always focused my art around them.
But then again maybe I’m just being a little harsh. I mean this was our first day and we’ve all just met. Maybe I just need to get to know them all better first before I judge them, and they’ll do the same for me.
The teacher on the hand, Ms. Richmond already gave to me a good impression. She seems kind and very supportive, and she seems to understand me. she said I have an uncommon and creative form of taste and passion for art, good to know that some people understand me. She also told me that she was good friends with a well known art critic and she said she planned on inviting him to the college to talk about all the kinds of art he's reviewed during his career as well as giving us some pointers to help us improve. I think me and her will get along very well.
Page 2
February 4th 1:22 PM “Eight minutes before class”
So I talked to some other students around campus and I managed to learn more about Sarah Milton. Apparently she’s from a very wealthy family and is very popular around campus, she’s also one of the few students with the best grades and also is a member of a small number of clubs and is even the club leader of one of them “I think it was Photography club, which probably would make sense since I was told she’s really into photography to the point where I think she might be a really big photography fanatic after I’ve heard she regularly posts photos of herself on social media sites”.
So yeah, she’s apparently one of those stuck up popular school girls stereotypes you see on TV. I’m now not feeling much confidence in becoming friends with her as I did before.
6:20 PM “Twenty minutes after class”
She’s worse than I thought!
Today before we started our first project, we were each asked what type of art fascinates us the most. So when my turn came I made it very clear how I see beauty in death and the dark, stating that while others might find such concepts scary and/or creepy, I on the other hand find strange and otherworldly beauty in such things, stating that I’ve gotten my inspiration from things like my love for Halloween and many of the various monster themed fantasy stories I’ve read back since I was a kid.
What does any of this have to do with Sarah? Because right after I finished my turn, I swear I heard her called me emo under a muttered cough! I can’t be the only one who heard it because some of the others students were quietly laughing! I mean what the hell?! Who laughs at something like that?! I just hope this thing with Sarah doesn’t become a reoccurring theme for me.

February 11th 1:20 PM “Ten minutes before class”
Okay…Now I'm getting a little weirded out.
While I was walking around campus I've been catching some people staring at me, giving me weird looks and some started to giggle and/or slightly chuckle when I pass by them, I even caught some people started to whisper to each other when I pass them. This never happened to me before and honestly has me confused wondering what's going on.
But the worst part is "and I'm hoping this was just my imagination or that I just misheard it" I slightly over heard a couple of girls I was passing by whispering to eachother and I swear I heard them say the following.
Is that the emo everyone's been hearing about?
You mean Emo Van Gogh? Yep I think that's him!
Huh. I was expected him to wear all black and have long dyed hair…he actually looks kinda cute
Ignoring that one comment about me looking cute, I couldn't believe what I just heard! Especially with that name they said, Emo Van Gogh?!
EMO??!! What the hell is going on?! Oh my god! Don't tell me that Sarah has been spreading faulty rumors about me?! Is that why everyone I've passed by been acting weird?! Why would she do that?!
I honestly hope I'm wrong. I can't imagine how this could affect not only my reputation, but also my chances of achieving my destiny.
I HATE HER! I F██████ HATE HER!!!
Today had to be possibly the most humiliating moment of my entire life!
Today we were going to work on paint strokes and how different strokes can be used to make different type of textures for your painting. We started by doing some practice strokes and I decided to go one step ahead and also do a practice painting of a cherry-blossom flower, It was going very nicely…..but then that BITCH had to go and RUIN
EVERYTHING!!! Because the next thing I knew, I found myself covered in black paint and my painting covered with paint blotches ruining it. The entire class burst into laughter with many of them pointing at me and some of them even mocking me with comments like
I think black fits him much better!,
Clean up in aisle 4! and
Careful Mr. Butter fingers!
Some of them even took pictures of me!
If it wasn't obvious enough, Sarah was the culprit! She snuck up on me while I was focused on my work and when Ms. Richmond wasn't looking. Not only did she got me covered in paint, but she used my OWN paint and made it looked like I accidentally did it to myself by shouting
OH MY GOD JOSEPH! Look at the mess you made!". Not only was that a total bitch move but then she said the following while giving me a sadistic grin! //I guess your reputation really does precede you. Right…Emo Van Gogh? Those few words and the sadistic grin on her face pretty much confirmed my earlier suspicions. She's been spreading rumors and lies about me! Then I saw the look on Ms. Richmond's face. She had her hands over her mouth in a silent gasp as she looked at me while a complete mess, I must've looked so disgraceful to her, no doubt she must've been disappointed in me.
But the worst part of it all….the part that was the breaking point for me is when I heard the door to the classroom open and we all turned to the source of the noise and I horrified by what I saw……The art critic….The one that Ms. Richmod was friends with…He was there…standing in front of the open door…and he was staring……..at ME! Looking at me completely covered in blotches of black paint like a human dalmatian with a look of shock on his face.
Then that bitch Sarah went and poured salt on the wound by quietly and mockingly saying these very words…
Ooooh…how embarassing
And just like that..I ran out of the room as burst into tears! I was ruined! My dream! My reputation! My Destiny! ALL RUINED! AND IT'S ALL HER FAULT!!! I SWEAR IF I EVER SEE HER DISGUSTING BLEMISHED FACE AGAIN, I'LL RIP THAT DAMN UGLY GOLDEN LOCKET CHAIN NECKLACE OFF OF HER NECK AND SHOVE IT RIGHT UP HER-

##The remainder of the page contained small sketches depicting acts of violence and torture upon a stick figure resembling a woman.##
Note: Traces of what appears to be dried human lacrima are found over the following page.

Seems all is not lost me.
After the spirit shattering events that occurred because of Sarah, I spent more than an hour and a half letting out all my emotions. Filled with rage and hatred towards that harlot Sarah Milton. I expressed my anger by punching, kicking and throwing anything in my surroundings from trash cans, benches and a few of the numerous campus vending machines. I even kicked a glass door so hard I ended up leaving a massive heavy crack in the glass.
After I finished venting out my anger, I then found myself in the corner of one of the many lounges on campus as my anger quickly change to sadness. I felt tear after tear streaming down my face as they mixed with the black paint still dripping off my body, feeling as if all my dreams have died and that my life was now tragically over.
Eventually I calmed down and decided to wash the paint off of me, so I head to the showers in The Fitness Center Locker Rooms, I didn't want to get wet paint on the walls and floor of my dorm. I then decided to just head back to the dormitories and let the rest of this miserable day pass by.
That's when I saw it.
Standing in front of the door to my dorm was a cardboard box.
Why it was there I had no idea. I didn't order anything and even if I did I would've been informed if I gotten a package. When I looked at the box it didn't have any form of indication to let who it was from, all it had was my name written on the top.
I eventually decided to just let the thought slide and take it in, plus I figured the only way to find out was to open it and see. It had slight weight to it so there must've been a good amount of content inside. After getting to the table I decided to open the box and see what's inside it.
It was a carrying case. Kind of similar to the kind of case I used for my art supplies. Except while mine was gray, this one was covered in every color I could possibly name by memory and was easily bigger than my own case. The handle was made of wood and It also had a few side pockets for smaller items. Speaking of items, I decided to check and see what was in this thing.
Low and behold..It was full off art supplies…At least I thought they were.
While these looked like typical art supplies like brushes, pencils and pens, these looked vastly different and seem to be made of materials not commonly used for these type of products. Also some of the objects didn't look like standard art equipment or even looked like they were meant for art, a number of them looked like something you'd see out of something like Harry Potter or Dungeons and Dragons. A number of them I couldn't even tell what they are or what they do.
I decided to double check the box it came in and see if I missed something. I noticed there was a letter that came with the case. It also didn't say who it was from, it just said "Read Me".
After reading the letter, I was both somewhat flattered and somewhat doubtful. I honestly don't see how this stuff can make art beyond wonders "though that might've just been an over exaggeration" especially since I'm not familiar with a number of these items. I decided to test out some of equipment I was familiar with and make a quick sketch with them. I decided to paint a fog shrouded woods with a single cherry-blossom flower on top of a log stump, to emphasize my sadness I still felt. I'll admit while this equipment was surprisingly good in quality, I still didn't see how this stuff can make art beyond imagination.
…Then the fog came.
I didn't know what was going on! one minute the room was normal when all of a sudden the room started to fill with thick fog! I then suddenly felt something land on my shoulder. I checked to see what it was, and I was shock to see a pink flower petal. I immediately recognized what type of flower it came from. Then suddenly I noticed more of them floating in the air all around me.
That's when I noticed the source of the strange occurrences….the painting…they were coming out of the painting?!
I couldn't believe what I was seeing! I didn't know whether what I saw was real, If my food was spiked or if I had gone completely insane! I mean this was straight up impossible! This is something you'd see out of a story book! But then things got even stranger as the fog started gathering in one specific spot and started to take shape and the rose petals also gather around it. The end result..was a woman shaped mass of fog with rose petals for hair, eyes and a mouth! I stood there completely frozen in shock and fear at what I was witnessing, fearing for my own life that this ghostly woman might kill me. When it started to get closer I snapped out of my shock and I started to back away trying to get as far away from it as I can, until I ended up against a wall. The fog woman was now right in front of me, seeing no chance of escape I closed my eyes and waited for whatever horrible fate awaited me….only to feel a cold yet strangely warm embrace. I opened my eyes to see that the fog woman was hugging me, like a mother comforting her child after they had a nightmare. I was honestly surprised and confused by this. She then looked at me before giving what I can only describe as a sad smile, and then softly kissed my cheek. She then disappeared as the fog dissipated and the rose petals disintegrated.
I couldn't believe what just happened…What I just Witnessed.
All of that actually happened.
And it came from a painting! MY PAINTING!!
My God…They weren't kidding…This Art Box……It's actual Magic!
With this art box…I could become the greatest artist on Earth!
I could become a living legend! My Dream! My Destiny! IT'S ALL WITHIN MY GRASP!!
Then I remembered something.
The Letter mentioned not only a guide that was included in the case to help me figure this stuff out, but it also mentioned a suggested for a plan…a plan for revenge.
Addendum 3: Recovered Video Log
This is where the video log from the helmet of the missing MTF member that was found in the SCP's containment cell will go.
On "Insert date here", A researcher noticed SCP-XXXX outside its containment locker on the floor slightly outside of its plastic sleeve. Near the object was a standard MTF helmet camera coated in a black liquid later identified to be calligraphy ink with traces of human DNA matching that of "MTF Member Name Here" who went missing during Exploration Log-XXXX-2 and was presumed lost. The helmet contained the following video log.
