SCP-####
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-[REDACTED] is to be kept within an SRA field fireproof Euclid-class storage locker in Site 64’s Anomalous Item Repository. All written records, printed materials, and electronic devices containing identifying information are not to be brought within 50 meters of SCP-[REDACTED].
Testing is to be conducted with Class B personnel or higher present. Requisition for testing form can be applied for through appropriate channels, but must be approved through O5 Council.
Description:
SCP-[REDACTED]-2 through SCP-[REDACTED]-250 are a set of identical sixty page, black, silver aluminum coil spiral-bound notebooks, in new condition. The covers bear the Foundation insignia above the text "We die in the dark so that others can live in the light".
A QR code on the cover's top-left corner links to the Foundation's official site. Cover contains text data on Object Class Descriptions, and the message: "This document and all associated [REDACTED] are the property of the SCP Foundation, and are subject to the classification requirements and restrictions therein. This document may or may not contain lethal memetic defense measures. Attempting to access or disseminate this document without proper and sufficient authorization is punishable by death." All cover elements are printed in silver ink on thick black card.
SCP-[REDACTED]-2 through SCP-[REDACTED]-250's interior pages are smooth, and printed with grey ink. The first page contains the SCP Foundation Mission Statement and what appears to be a Level 2 Clearance Stamp, dated and signed. Remaining interior pages contain lined pages bearing the Foundation insignia, and space for date and subject. Spreads 2-3, 14-15, 26-27, 38-39, 50-51, and 62-63 are unremarkable. Remaining pages contain corrupt images and data, repeating every 6 spreads.
Entries in SCP-[REDACTED]-2 through SCP-[REDACTED]-250 are intermittently altered. It is not known how data is selected for alteration. Transcriptions of real-world memories and correspondences written within the pages of the notebook are reconstructed as false memories to show the presence of an additional figure, consistent throughout altered entries in a single notebook. All persons present at the events featured will have their memories altered to include the additional figure. Visual art, sheet music, and works of fiction will be altered to attribute original author to this figure.
Upon not writing in the pages of the notebook for thirty days, SCP-[REDACTED]-2 through SCP-[REDACTED]-250 will begin intermittently altering written and digital records in proximity to it. Physical detection of the alteration has not been possible. Altered records have been noted to be inconsistent with each other, and with altered memories.
As SCP-[REDACTED]-1 was damaged beyond use before any experimentation could take place, and was not recovered in the presence of any other records containing identifying information, it is not clear if it also displayed the secondary effect. It is theorized by Dr. [REDACTED] that alterations of SCP-[REDACTED]-1 were an intended effect, and the alteration of external records displayed by SCP-[REDACTED]-2 through SCP-[REDACTED]-250 is a direct consequence of insufficient thaumaturgical insulation provided to the narrative structures inside the notebook.
Secondary Effect - Upon ((some condition. not writing in it? writing too much in it?)) SCP-#### will begin intermittently altering written and digital records in proximity to it. ((alterations not physically detectable)) ((altered records are not necessarily consistent with each other OR the altered memories))
As SCP-[REDACTED]-1 was damaged beyond use before any experimentation could take place, and was not recovered in the presence of any other records containing identifying information, it is not clear if it also displayed the secondary effect. ((theorized that only the alternations in the journal was an intended effect, and the alteration of external records displayed by the other journals is a direct consequence of ((insufficient thaumaturgical insulation provided to the narrative structure (weave in some cool hyphenated prefixes like ontological or paracausal or -) inside the journals (they fucked up the spell))).
Acquisition Log: - ((anonymous report of anomalous activity in remote cabin in eastern europe)) ((Mobile team XXXX arrived to fire, some sort of lightning storm, etc)) ((encountered POI-XXXX and took into custody)) ((recovered various thaumaturgical runes and experiments, instructions for creating anomalous objects, etc. SCP-####-1 was among them, though its significance was not known until later))
Interview with POI-XXXX: - ((POI-XXXX background: from a long line of thaumaturges spanning hundreds of years. Instructions for creating SCP-????, SCP-????, and SCP-???? were found which may predate their estimated creation, and appear to be several centuries older than the apparent age of POI-XXXX))
Interviewer: Who are you?
POI-XXXX: I'm YYYY, former apprentice to QQQQ, Xth Thaumaturge for the House of ?????.
I: ((question about House of ?????))
P: ((statements about House of ?????))
I: What was happening when mobile team arrived?
P: It had gone too far. I knew it was out of my power to contain. I was the one who sent the anonymous tip.
I: Why would you do that?
P: Too dangerous, too much knowledge.
I: What happened?
P: ((Was trying to innovate and improve the magical smithing process for creating anomalous objects. Some magic techno-babble about trying to bind the [information contained in the instructions for creating the anomalous objects] to the physical process of actually following the instructions. Success would have allowed the creation of way more stuff than currently possible.))
I: What caused the storm/explosion?
P: When I attempted to perform the ritual it worked, but the effect back fed through me into the house journal. By the time I realized what was happening it was too late. I managed to isolate the process inside of the journal, but I couldn't stop it from fully integrating into the contents. ((something happened to damage the isolation sigil, which caused the huge release of energy))
Memo, dated XXXXXX: "After further debriefing POI-XXXX, we believe that combining the informational binding ritual they used and, with a few alterations, the process of onto-narrative isolation, it would be possible to create items"
"Permission denied"
Addendum: - some irregularities are detected that are linked to the SCP recovery, maybe some stuff is missing from the evidence locker, and the department of the person who sent the memo has issues with record consistency and information corruption, some records destroyed in containment breach.
Incident Report: of discovering rogue cell at a black site. Too many personal, unaccounted for resources, tracing the missing evidence, detecting energy leaking from the ritual.
Post-Incident Report: recovered with the cell are the materials from the original recovery, as well as recreated notebooks. Many that are written in, some damaged. Lots of blank ones. all are numbered 0001-1000, ones up to 157 are written in or damaged. On-site personnel records display inconsistencies with rest of foundation. Cross-referencing records with the content of the journals suggests that a large portion of the personnel were somehow created from the recreated journals. Analysis of how this is possible is ongoing.
