Zyn: Okay, here we go. I started with some edits to the containment to be less generic. So far as idea development goes, I'm not sure about a few things so far. If these bats are flesh-eaters, do we still want them to have the sort of vampire "stasis" that makes them essentially inanimate when they haven't had flesh in a while? (And is it flesh eating or bloodsucking?) Also, rather than making SCP-XXXX-1 instances just "hostile and superfast", what about also noting that pets bitten by the bats also try to oddly specific behaviors, like attempting to hide upside down, sleeping only in small containers, and seeking out black-colored clothing to "wear"? Maybe that would make an interesting subversion of the usual vampire trope?
Zettlink: The usual inactive for five days and your amazing co-author is fine with it and patiently waits, thanks buddy.

Not too sure about this, I would honestly rather them starve, but if portrayed right we can make this some kind of comedical element. I would rather it be left out.

They should still be aggressive, it is one of the main elements of this story, however, I feel as though something like making them love black and are attracted to it, why hating the color white just fits. Maybe we could try other things like trying to walk on walls or emitting a stench that smells like candy.
Just to clarify, I assume flesh eating after looking at the ideas forum.
So, should we try to lay out what addenda we are adding and what element of the story it will tell, and then try to figure out who writes what. You are more experienced, I am kinda guessing how to do this most effective.
I also edited "[feeding instructions]" to make it more appealing with bold text.
Feeding Instructions:
Should we make an extra containment procedure that has a purposeful flaw and then maybe put it under a collapsible?
Zyn: Okay, so… looks like there was some misunderstanding that happened.
- I would honestly rather them starve > why?
- They should still be aggressive, it is one of the main elements of this story > again, why? We already have a lot of aggression-causing SCPs, and if this is something that you really want to have in the article as a main element, I'm much less inclined to co-author because it's almost guaranteed to be less workable.
- love black and are attracted to it, why hating the color white just fits. > was there a typo here? "Why" for "while"?
- emitting a stench that smells like candy. > I'm not sure how this would fit. Why would we add this effect?
- should we try to lay out what addenda we are adding and what element of the story it will tell > it looks like we still don't have the core idea set yet. It's too early to be thinking about addenda at this point.
- I also edited "[feeding instructions]" to make it more appealing with bold text. > the brackets were to indicate that it was a placeholder. That heading isn't going to actually be in the article. I've changed it back with a more clear explanation.
- Should we make an extra containment procedure that has a purposeful flaw and then maybe put it under a collapsible? > Again, why? How would that improve the article? What narrative purpose would that serve?
Looks like we'll need to backtrack a bit, and solidify what the core concept actually is before we start thinking about embellishments and extra writing bits.
Just so we're on the same page, what was the idea that you were planning on writing?
I was thinking that this was about some bats that would try and seek out animals to feed on, but be pretty terrible at it and as a result generally stay docile. Animals who get chunks of them taken out by these things will behave oddly (general classic vampire and bat behavior but in a comedic way?); for humans the bats just sort of latch on and make the humans roll around.
Is that what you were planning?
Zettlink So
Honestly, what I was going for were weaker bats that mostly feed on smaller animals, insects, and fruit (So a normal bat.) But, when they bite anything living (that survives the bite) they behave oddly. Humans are not effected, but one thing, they roll around. So we are thinking the same thing correct? (Forgot to mention, this would be in a mostly comedic, but also slightly weird way.)
Zyn: Okay. What are the "odd behaviors" for the non-human living animals that survive?
And what is the in-universe reason that the humans roll around? Just because?
Also, if these are normal bats, will the containment just be the same as caring for normal bats?

Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX instances are to be contained in an aviary with at least 10 square meters of floorspace, with artificial trees placed throughout the enclosure. Each SCP-XXXX is to be labeled with a colored identification tag attached to the left foot. Once a day, a Level-2 researcher is to record the locations of each SCP-XXXX instance within the enclosure.
[placeholder: feeding instructions will be written here]
If necessary for transport, SCP-XXXX instances may be temporarily kept in avian pet carriers, with multiple instances being able to be housed in the same carrier.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an omnivorous species of bat reaching a wingspan of 15.24 cm. SCP-XXXX tends to only feed on flesh however in times of scarcity they will eat plants such as White Columbine to prevent starving. SCP-XXXX tends to only feed on plants such as White Columbine, but in times of curiosity will feed on flesh. Unlike most bats, SCP-XXXX instances refuse to eat insects. The bite of SCP-XXXX causes a change in behavior in most organisms. SCP-XXXX-1 instances are much faster and aggressive than the previous counterpart. Humans are not affected by most of the side effects, but they are affected by a loss of balance and joy in rolling around. Other specimens also lose balance and roll on the ground. After a few weeks, any non-human counterparts of SCP-XXXX die and the bats use their corpse for extra food in times of scarcity of plants.
Addendum XXXX-1 Recovery Log-1 Instances of SCP-XXXX have been found at [DATA REDACTED], Utah after a student released them at a speech. No other instances of SCP-XXXX have been found in the area.
Addendum XXXX-2 Recovery Log-2 Several reports of missing or homicidal pets have been filed near the area of initial recovery. Foundation agents stationed in the area found more of the bats. The current procedure is to wear gloves and just pick the bats off trees off the trees for transport back to Foundation Site. SCP-XXXX-1 instances are to be put down immediately by foundation staff.
