Description: SCP-XXXX is a series of anomalous phenomena primarily affecting landline transmissions in low-income urban areas, including (but not limited to, ■■■■■■■■■■, Tennessee; ■■■■■■■■, Illinois; ■■■■■■■■, New York; ■■■■■■, Texas; ■■■■■■■■, Manitoba; and ■■■■■■■■■■■, ■■■■■■■■. Thus far activity has been limited to North America (Note: investigation into potentially related activity observed in cell phone transmissions in ■■■■■■■, Japan ■■ May 20■■. Phone records indicate no line activity at the time of any observed calls relating to SCP-XXXX phenomena.

An instance of SCP-XXXX is characterized by three phases:

First, a pay phone will ring. Any person answering this call is hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-1. Upon answering a prerecorded collect call request will play, identifying the caller as "Keshawndra". If charges are accepted, the caller, hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-Alpha, begins speaking. SCP-XXXX-Alpha greets SCP-XXXX-1 by their given name and immediately begins sharing various rumors about SCP-XXXX-1's family, friends, associates, and coworkers at length and in great detail. A blind analysis of recorded audio of SCP-XXXX-Alpha deduced the speaker was a pubescent male between the ages of 9 and 14, with speech consistent with African-American Vernacular English, albeit "grossly exaggerated"; the researchers involved concluded it was "a prank call from some racist teenager". Attempts to substantiate SCP-XXXX-Alpha's claims have so far been unsuccessful, though the persons referred to otherwise exist as described. SCP-XXXX-1 will then periodically receive collect calls from SCP-XXXX-Alpha, always on a public pay phone and with no particular timing, until such time as SCP-XXXX-1 answers but does not accept collect call charges.

Once SCP-XXXX-1 declines or hangs up, they will begin receiving collect calls from SCP-XXXX-Alpha on any nearby landline. These calls have been successfully traced to numerous public pay phones and are characterized by SCP-XXXX-Alpha hysterically warning SCP-XXXX-1 that one or more people close to them, usually family members or trusted friends and hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-2, are going to harm someone close to them in some manner. Recorded warnings have contained graphic and detailed descriptions of rape, murder, disfigurement, robbery, kidnapping, and (on one occasion) ritual sacrifice. This is typically met with disbelief from SCP-XXXX-1 at first, but as calls persist SCP-XXXX-1 begins to wonder about, and eventually believe SCP-XXXX-Alpha's claims. Investigation into a potential memetic effect is pending. These calls persist anywhere from two weeks to four years, at which time the event will appear to come to pass, with SCP-XXXX-1 witnessing the misdeed described in exacting detail. The apparent perpetrator retains no memory of this event, usually providing an alabi. Investigations into these alabis invariably find them at worst unprovable, with most appearing to be true. Addendum 4 March 20■■: Study XXXX-39-Aleph by Dr ■■■■■■■ has found that SCP-XXXX-3 takes on SCP-XXXX-2's appearance before carrying out the acts described by SCP-XXXX-Alpha, after which it simply ceases to exist once it is no longer being observed.

SCP-XXXX-1 afterwards displays increasingly erratic behavior, usually withdrawing from work, school, and social activities. SCP-XXXX-1's facial features, bone structure, skin tone, and hair drastically change until SCP-XXXX-1, while typically not disfigured or abnormal in any way, is no longer identifiable as the same person. These alterations have included, but are not limited to: hair becoming coarser/finer, increased or decreased melanin in the skin, spontaneous genital inversion, mild to extreme breast growth/shrinkage, abrupt growth of well-manicured facial hair, iris color changing, enlargement/shrinkage of nose/lips, and lenthening or shortening of major bones and muscle groups. During this time SCP-XXXX-1's capacity for speech becomes greatly impaired, beginning with mild slurring and worsening until closely resembling that of SCP-XXXX-Alpha.
