Item #: SCP-XXXX "Ghoul"
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP XXXX is to be contained in a clear container with a minimum of 1.5 liters in capacity. This container can be stored in on-site storage.
Instances of SCP XXXX are to be contained in a 6 by 6 by 3 meter reinforced containment chamber. One body of a recently deceased person is to be given to every SCP XXXX instance every month.
Human contact with SCP XXXX is to be overseen by at least four (4) armed guards and needs to be permitted by at least 2 researchers with clearance level 3 or higher.
Description: SCP XXXX is a form of fungus that latches on to the skeletal structure of its victim, giving it enhanced properties. Their properties come in the form of newly formed appendages that extend from the infected areas. Once a person has been infected, he will be designated as an instance of SCP XXXX and is to be apprehended and secured in a highly secured cell at site ██
SCP XXXX is able to survive outside the host's body for a currently unknown amount of time. Testing is currently ongoing.
After infection, SCP XXXX instances will undergo heavy physiological changes. They will be unable to digest any human food, as it will have a gross and slimy texture to it, as well as see an increase in all sensory abilities.
After SCP XXXX infects a human body and an instance is created, the instance will react to their new instincts and find the first possible source of human meat to consume. (More about SCP XXXX instances' feeding patterns can be found in addendum XXXX-A1)
Once an instance from SCP XXXX in created, they will be able to manifest some sort of appendage that they then use to hunt. As of the moment of writing this rapport, these appendages have only been observed once in the field. Any additional information on later discovered features will be dated and listed in Addendum XXXX-A3
Addendum:
Addendum XXXX-A1
Instances of SCP XXX don't need to feed like regular humans. SCP XXX instances have been monitored going up to a month without food before entering a feral state and hunting any source of human meat it can find
If no human is available for consumption, SCP XXXX instances have been observer cannibalizing on parts of other SCP XXXX instances to lower the intensity of their feral state
Addendum XXXX-A2
SCP XXXX instances seem to live in a monarchy. The social structure will be determined by instances fighting amongst themselves to assume a place in their social structure.
Addendum XXXX-A3
No new information is available on SCP XXXX-X's appendages.
Addendum XXXX-A4
As of ██/██/20██, Intervieuws can only be performed with SCP-XXXX-1. The other instances have flocked to him as a leader figure, and say that he possesses the Black Shroud. (Research to the possibility of 'Black Shroud' being the original version of SCP-XXXX is postponed due to extreme discomfort and pain to SCP-XXXX-1, leading into heightened aggression from SCP XXXX-1 and other instances.
As a result of these findings, containment has been increased to the following:
- Cell doors to the instances of SCP-XXXX have been changed to 'Gunnebo SIISec security doors'.
- Cell walls have received an additional layer of 1 meter thick concrete
- (Electric counter measures on Cell door are being negociated with the site director and lead scientist researching SCP-XXXX)
Addendum XXXX-A5
Instances of SCP XXXX have been observed to grow fungus on to any surface if they stay still against it for more then 5 minutes. This fungus is destructive in nature, but when questioned, SCP XXXX-1 says that he has no malicious intent. Observation of this fungus in impossible as it's top layer dies off as soon as SCP XXXX disconnects from it, and its bottom layer dies as soon as a sample removal begins. As of this moment the nature and purpose of this fungus is unclear.
As of ██/██/20██ any infected spots inside the holding cell for SCP-XXXX instances are to be cleaned weekly and inspected for structural damage. Damaged property is to be replaced and/or repaired upon discovery.
Incident rapports
Incident report XXXX-██/██/20██
After a body was found in an alleyway in downtown New York in ██/██/20██, Police units went to investigate. After closer inspection of the crime scene, the Foundation was involved due to suspicion of an anomalous object after an autopsy of the body.
Foundation agents were stationed at big gatherings of people. Their objective was to spot any strange behavior in secluded areas and notify Zulu 6 for retrieval. The agents had gotten a crude description of the men they were looking for at hand.
██/██/2███
Foundation agents are deployed to a mass protest in the downtown area of New York. Everything
went by calmly until field operatives took notice of a scream coming from one of the alleyways
they were guarding. Operatives ████, ██████, █████, and ████ arrived on scene to find a
younger men feeding of the corpse of █████, The men they were tasked to locate and take in.
Upon finding this individual, the operatives reported to Zulu 6 and held the target at gunpoint.
After about a minute, the target dashed away from the scene. Operative █████ stayed behind with the, now deceased, target while the other operatives chased after the new SCP XXXX instance. Zulu 6 was soon involved in the chase. They chased SCP XXXX-1 for approximately 20 minutes, before finaly cornering him. At gunpoint, 4 tail-like appendages grew out of SCP XXXX-1's tailbone and engulfed him as the SCP XXXX-1 dropped to its knees.
SCP XXXX-1 was put to sleep using sleep gas and transported to site ██ for containment.
Intervieuws:
Intervieuw XXXX-1
Interviewed: SCP XXXX-1
Interviewer: Researcher ██████
Foreword: Interview by the site director ██████, interviewing SCP XXXX about the events regarding the incident on ██/██/2███
<Begin Log, ██/██/2████>
██████: Hello SCP XXXX. I'm here to ask you a couple of questions regarding the incident of ██/██/2███
SCP XXXX-1: Look, I don't know what is going on here. I was just on my way back home from getting groceries when this crazy guy attacked me.
██████: I've read the incident rapport from our field agents. Tell me. If you are so innocent, why did you cannibalize ██████?
SCP XXXX-1: I don't know what happened to me. It was like a surge of hunger came over me. At first, I tried reaching for my groceries, but I would instantly throw up if I tried to eat anything. Then the smell of his flesh hit me like a train… My body just moved on its own. The first thing I clearly remember after that is the agent's pointing their guns at me, and my face is covered in blood. I panicked. I panicked and I ran. I didn't know what to do!<End Log, ██/██/2███>
Closing Statement: SCP XXXX-1 seems to be in genuine distress when mentioning the events of ██/██/2███. Caution is advised to any researcher that attempts to mention this subject. SCP XXXX-1 Is currently not in a stable mindset, most likely due to him still figuring out for himself what the properties of SCP XXXX are. Suggest that all further interviews are delayed until a more suitable time for SCP XXXX-1
