Description: SCP-4199 is a freelance commission artist known as “MeuZ”. This entity operates via word of mouth, image boards, tumblr, deviantart, pixiv1 and dark-web forums offering character drawings for a moderate price.2 All attempts to trace or contact SCP-4199 to ascertain their identity have failed. SCP-4199 will only respond to commission requests. Once a request is sent, SCP-4199 will reply with a simple electronic invoice via PayPal. Attempts to trace this account, or the funds routed through it have likewise failed.

Within 6-12 days of payment, SCP-4199 will email the client back with an attached piece of digital artwork in .PNG file format. The attached artwork will be radically different in both style and appearance than the clients request, often taking on disturbing or highly fetishized visual elements. This commission will also be a highly accurate representation of the client's inner machinations. Interviewees claim their commissions have illustrated desires, fears, or unrealized aspirations they’ve never spoken about, or even realized existed. Once a client views their commission, they are subject to SCP-4199-A.

SCP-4199-A is a progressive, debilitating psychosis that severely disrupts an individual’s perceptions of reality and personal identity. This psychosis follows eight stages, detailed below:

Stage 1 “Infection” – Time: N/A – :
Subject observes the commission piece via any medium. Reactions vary, but typically range from bemusement to disgust. In rare cases, subjects have been observed staring at the commission in a trance-like state, lapsing into uncontrollable laughter, or violently attempting to destroy the device currently displaying the commission.

4199-A-15, Penelope Hansen, Age 21:

"I found "MeuZ" on the r/DnD subreddit. It was a drawing of someone's half-elf bard, and it was hilarious. Like, this gorgeous dude, perfect features, women just falling over him. I've totally played with those sort of wish fulfillment dudes before. Plus, It wasn't, like, that kind of boring Magic the Gathering style, y'know? It was interesting! So I sent "MeuZ" an email with my Tieflings bio and desc, paid the invoice, and waited.

What I got back was… eugh. I mean, she was gorgeous, kind of. Just… fuck, okay, I did want her to be, like, savage, or whatever. She's chaotic evil. But… I don't know. Her face looked way too much like mine. It was creepy. I thought maybe he looked me up on facebook? The really freaky part was the head. You've seen it, right? The bloody, fucked up head she's holding up? At first I was shocked, but then I figured, y'know, artistic licence. My brother said it looked "metal". Just, like, okay… this will sound stupid, but the head looked exactly like my ex boyfriend. Even had the stupid nose ring. And, like, MeuZ couldn't have looked him up! He doesn't have facebook, and I deleted all our… well y'know. He wasn't good to me. But, like, we were stupid teenagers then! I'm over it! I've been over it a long time!"

Stage 2 “Reply”– Time: 24-48 HFI3 – :
Subjects will attempt to contact SCP-4199. Invariably, SCP-4199 will not respond. The subject will grow more and more fixated on contacting SCP-4199, reflected in their email frequency and tone. Pestering4 bargaining5, and threats6 are common among most subjects at this stage.

4199-A-19, Donald Zhang, Age 41:

"Fucking MeuZ. I must have sent a million god damned emails trying to get my money back. I work for a living! 80 bucks ain't any skin off my back! It's the principal of the thing! I told him exactly what I wanted. Pink fluff, big eyes, dumb little flipper hands. Know what he sends me instead!? Well fuck, you've seen that sick, perverse garbage. I had half a mind to go to the cops. Jesus, I'm trying to write a children's book! … What? Of course I deleted it. I deleted my whole hard drive it sickened me so much. Why are you asking me that? … How is that relevant, those charges are nearly 20 years old. I was exonerated. It was at a party, damn it, and she said she was 18!"

Stage 3 “Dormancy” – Time: 48-72 HFI – :
Subjects will stop trying to contact SCP-4199 out of frustration or apathy. At this point, the commission is ignored or deleted by the subject. Attempts to delete the .PNG file will cause it to re-appear somewhere else on the subject’s computer or phone, usually sorted unassumingly into an existing photo album. Destroying the device where the SCP-4199 commission is housed will cause it to transfer to another device owned by the subject.

4199-A-08, Martha Radcliffe, Age 53:

It was just like they were saying on Fox the other night! He's one of those nasty little hacker millennials putting his horrid little drawing all over my laptop! I even did a Google to see if I was destroying the image correctly, but it just kept showing up! All I'd asked him to do was draw a nice family portrait of me, the kids, and my husband, God rest his soul. Goodness gracious, that image, with all those awful men doing all those… awful things to me! Disgusting!

Stage 4 “Obsession”– 72-144 HFI – :
With repeated viewings, intentional or otherwise, subjects will gradually become convinced of the commissions artistic merits. During this time, subjects will often have the artwork printed and framed. If asked about their behavior, subjects will respond that the commission “didn’t make sense at first” but has since taken on a more profound resonance with them.

SCP-4199-A-10 Arjun Basu, Age 23:

"No, see, it's actually brilliant! I mean yeah, I asked for a cool, stylized profile picture for Facebook, but what I got… god! Think about it. Before photography all we had was art. Think about those grand portraits of kings and queens. They're always so regal and healthy, right? But they weren't! They were inbred and overweight, but the portrait, that's how they wanted to be seen. Or when great artists draw naked women! That's how the artist saw them, all ethereal and and amazing. Art… art is all about perspective. It's about the lens, man. I get it now. I didn't get what I asked for, yeah, but I got something better. I got art. Real art."

Past stage 4, SCP-4199-A is incurable by any known means.

Stage 5 “Reverence” – 144-312 HFI – :
Subjects will begin to spend inordinate amounts of time looking at their commission. Many will become reclusive, but those who continue social engagements will attempt to guide all conversations to their commission. No matter the response received, subjects will become distant, or aggravated with their peers, commonly stating “You just don’t get it”. At this stage, subjects will often gravitate to outlying communities related to the content of their commission. I.E. Heavy BDSM, cannibalism, dollification, infantilism, race/sex hate groups, etc.

SCP-4199-A-03 Dylan Peterson, Age 33:

I asked you to get rid of it. I asked the guards to get rid of it. I couldn't even break it with that fucking plexiglass over it, so yes, I covered the mirror in shit. I told you to get rid of it! I didn't want to see it any more. That isn't me. I didn't want to have to stare at that white collar fuck up anymore. The failed husband. The bottom bracket insurance salesman. That's not me. That's the shitty box people like you stuffed me in. I know who I am. I've always known, ever since that day in the locker room… MeuZ understood. Even before I did, he understood. Just… let me see my picture. Let me- LET ME SEE IT!

Stage 6 “Reflection”– 312-480 HFI – :
Subjects mood, mannerisms, and daily lives change drastically as a direct response to their commission. In 35% of all subjects, this has an objectively positive benefit. Subjects become more assertive about what they want, take measures for self-improvement, and seek out opportunities to fulfill their desires safely. 65% of all subjects, typically those who’s commission details outrageous or impossible conditions will become despondent, unstable, and often rely on self-harm.

SCP-4199-A-11 Jakob Nilsson, Age 29:

Just stop. Stop with the IV's and the force feeding. I don't want it. I'm wrong. I've always been wrong. I'll always be wrong. Just… stop.

Stage 7 “Collapse”– 480-816 HFI – :
100% of all subjects develop destructive compulsions. Stage 6 subjects who previously sought healthy, constructive means to achieve their goals will begin seeking more and more extreme avenues. Most subjects experience a total detachment from reality, either hyper-focused on better emulating their commissioned artwork, or stuck in a mental “loop”, unable to grapple with the fact they’re incapable of becoming what their commission displayed.

SCP-4199-A-05 Howard Galanos, Age 38:

Fiends! Rogues! What nefarious device did you employ!? I… I can't feel my powers any more! Why can't I fly!? Where are my thermal blasts!? You must let me go! The city is in danger! The people need me! Just ask that kindhearted woman and her child! I saved them from a speeding truck! Stopped it with my bare hands!

You-… you villain! What cheap forgery is this! You… you've edited those photos, haven't you!? I remember that day! They were alive! Alive and smiling! You've made it look like I'm arm in arm with some mangled-… no! No! I won't fall for this heinous ruse! And- gah! Get these preposterous stitches out of my arms! I am Gala Man! I am invulnerable! Let me go! LET ME GO! Damn your evil black hearts, you've stolen my super strength and given it to your goons, haven't you!? Damn you! DAMN YOU ALL!

Stage 8 “Termination”– 816 HFI-∞ :
In 18% of cases, subjects enter an irreversible catatonic state. Another 11% remain responsive but are no longer capable of responding to any stimuli appropriately. 71% of all subjects entering stage 8 commit suicide.7

SCP-4199-A-02 Donna Marsh, Age 19:

LIARS! LIARS! LIARS! LIARS! SHE SAW ME! I SAW HER! LIARS! LIARS! LIARS! SHE SAW ME! I SAW HER! LIARS! LIARS! LIARS! LET ME OUT OF IT! LET ME OUT OF IT! GIVE ME BACK MY TEETH! LET ME PEEL BACK THE LIES! LET ME BACK INSIDE! SHES TRAPPED IN MY BONES! LIARS! LIARS! LIARS! SHE SAW ME! I SAW HER! LIARS! LIARS! LIARS!
