Object class: Safe
Special containment procedures: SCP-4219 is to be contained in a locked storage compartment, located in site[Redacted], wing seven, of anomalous object storage.
Description: SCP-4219 is a large, patchwork, blanket, roughly 3 feet long, and 5 feet wide. It is made of wool, and has a 200 thread count. SCP-4219 is grey in color, and has a soft felt underside.
When SCP-4219 is in the presence of a person, SCP-4219 will start to produce a heavy odor, that smells different to all personal. Scents include, fresh laundry, cookies, and other smells that induce a feeling of nostalgia. Any personal in the area are immediately drawn to SCP-4219, and decide to wrap SCP-4219 around their shoulders. As they do so, they begin to talk about "Simpler times", often relating to a childhood story. The subject then begins to feel exhausted, and enters into a deep sleep, wrapping the blanket tighter around their body. Any attempts to wake the sleeping subject, will end in failure. After 10 minutes have elapsed, the subject's body temperature begins to rise. It soon reaches over 200 degrees, well beyond the point of human-cell death.1 At this point in time, the subject is pronounced dead. After another 10 minutes, the subjects body begins to enter a state of rapid decay, quickly beginning to liquefy. After 5 minutes, the subjects body has been completely broken down, into a paste, similar to the consistency of peanut butter. SCP-4219 then begins to absorb the victim's remains. It is speculated that during this time, SCP-4219 is "feeding". It is unknown is SCP-4219 is sentient, or has to feed to survive, however initial testing showed that SCP-4219 favored to target people who were depressed, or recently grieving the loss of a loved one.
SCP-4219 was captured in [redacted], Ohio, after several disappearances occurred at the [redacted] motel. Capture team 6 had originally taken a bed with SCP-4219 on top, mistaking the bed to have the anomalous properties. In the process, one agent began to feel the effect of SCP-4219. Records show that this agent had recently lost their grandmother. The other agents did not heavily feel the effects, and simply reported the feeling of being warm, or suddenly fatigued. The one agent in particular had taken SCP-4219 and had relocated himself into the now vacant room. The other agents had not noticed his whereabouts until the bed was fully loaded onto the transport vehicle. By the time they had fully located the agent, nothing was left, except SCP-4219. The agent, and the full combat suit he was equipped with, had disappeared. The team had realized their mistake and unloaded the bed. They then took extreme precautions, and loaded SCP-4219 onto the transport.
This containment of SCP-4219 provided very interesting data for the foundation. SCP-4219 has the potential to not only dissolve flesh, but also heavy Kevlar armor, and small pieces of metal.
