Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept within SCP-XXXX-1 in containment unit ███ if not currently being tested on, and is only to be taken out for 1 hour at a time. Failing to do so will result in SCP-XXXX to leave its dormant state. All personnel with a clearance level of 2 5 or above are permitted to preform testing on SCP-XXXX. When taking SCP-XXXX out of SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX must be immediately worn in an effort to prevent a transfer of consciousness. SCP-XXXX should not be worn under any circumstances.

SCP-XXXX in its dormant state, removed from the rope for testing purposes.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a rope necklace with a large red crystal attached to the end. The rope can be detached from the crystal, however there is currently no known way to destroy either SCP-XXXX-1 or SCP-XXXX¹. SCP-XXXX remains in a dormant state whilst contained within the blue velvet jewellery box it was found with (SCP-XXXX-1), however, if taken out of its containment for over 60 minutes, SCP-XXXX will leave its dormant state, producing a large flash of crimson light, transferring any consciousness stored within it into the closest host/s within a 94m radius. Once SCP-XXXX is in its active state, it will not re-enter its dormant state until it has transferred consciousness with at least one host. SCP-XXXX cannot transfer the consciousness being held within it if it is inside SCP-XXXX-1. If SCP-XXXX transfers consciousness into a sentient being, the host's consciousness cannot be recovered.

Wearing SCP-XXXX around your neck whilst activated will render you vulnerable only as a host, however if you are later killed, your consciousness will transfer into SCP-XXXX. If SCP-XXXX is not being worn whilst active, it will transfer all consciousnesses within a 94m radius into itself before re-entering its dormant state. Currently SCP-XXXX is in its active state dormant state, and must not be worn under any circumstances, as SCP-XXXX has been holding SCP-████'s consciousness since ████.

SCP-XXXX-1 is a 10cm² blue velvet necklace box, with a single dent in the corner, exposing its brass metal frame.

Addendum:

LEVEL 5 OR HIGHER CLEARANCE NEEDED

The last known usage of SCP-XXXX prior to its containment was located in █████████, 1947. ████ had his consciousness transferred for an unknown reason. An attempt at recovering his consciousness was made ██ years ago, however this attempt failed, as the consciousness recovered was not that of ████'s. We are uncertain of the whereabouts of ████. The consciousness spoke in an interview several days after the object he was manifesting in was found.

Analysis: SCP-XXXX can transfer consciousness both ways.
