Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained in the abandoned ███████ district of Hokkaido, Japan and is overseen by Mobile Task Force Xi-86 "Paints of Rebellion". This area is removed from Google Maps, removed from GPS, and routes leading to SCP-XXXX's containment area are concealed from the public eye. Anyone who is not a member of the foundation who finds SCP-XXXX's containment area is rerouted out and given Class-A Amnestics. Should containment be breached by SCP-XXXX-1, at least 1000 m² of the breaching SCP-XXXX-1 is to be painted over with vantablack to halt its spread and terminate smaller 'roots'. Should a SCP-XXXX-2 instance breach containment, said instance should be terminated via gunfire and covered in vantablack, as well as a 5 meter circle around the corpse painted in vantablack to prevent further spread of SCP-XXXX-1. Instances of SCP-XXXX-2 that are capable of flight are to be terminated on sight.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a piece of graffiti sprayed in an abandoned mall. Said graffiti piece resembles a heavily stylized hummingbird of an unknown species resembling Mellisuga helenae (Bee hummingbird) painted red, black, and white. Attempts to destroy the original mural have been unsuccessful. Every 9 to 20 hours, the colors will bleed off of the hummingbird and spread outwards in intricate formations that resemble those from a certain room from the indie horror game █████. This process resembles the growth of mycelium in mushrooms to some extent. This growth is known as SCP-XXXX-1. Painting vantablack around SCP-XXXX-1 has proven to have temporary success at halting its spread, but this lasts from one day to fifty years. Organisms can become infected with SCP-XXXX-1 through skin contact, and those who are infected will slowly transform into instances of SCP-XXXX-2. Instances of SCP-XXXX-2 are the same color as SCP-XXXX and appear to be composed of the limbs, organs, and heads of various species of hummingbirds. Most instances of SCP-XXXX-2 exhibit body shapes similar to humans, deer, and tardigrades, but body shapes such as birds, lizards, worms, praying mantids, butterflies, and jellyfish have been spotted. All instances of SCP-XXXX-2 are twice the height of the average person. Plants and algae are immune to SCP-XXXX-2 conversion.
Experiments on D-Class personnel have illustrated the process of SCP-XXXX-2 conversion, which has been condensed down to a series of steps:
1. Initial Exposure: A red, black, and white dot of SCP-XXXX-1 appears at the point of contact and is roughly an inch wide. This dot behaves similarly to a rash and is described as 'extremely itchy'. Scratching at this dot usually spreads SCP-XXXX-1 to the fingers of the hand or hands that scratched it and greatly accelerates the process. These spots peel off and shrivel up once the infected individual enters the second stage of infection.
2. Fluid Contamination: Small globules of SCP-XXXX-1 enter the bloodstream and spread to blood cells. Those who enter this phase do not exhibit any signs of infection other than an upset stomach and/or a slight fever. Progression to this stage can take anywhere between one (1) hour or four (4) days.
3. Hallucinations: Once SCP-XXXX-1 globules take root in the infected individual's brain, they will 'paint' the organ red, black, and white over twenty (20) hours. After this, severe audiovisual hallucinations will occur within three (3) to seven (7) days. These audiovisual hallucinations are described as thousands of hummingbirds taking off from trees, the ground, and even places that defy the laws of physics, such as under the ground and in the air. These hummingbirds will fly through everything that would normally block a hummingbird's progress, such as walls and ceilings. The droning humming from the beating wings of the hummingbirds will drown out every other sound, including the thinking of the infected individual. Infected individuals believe these hallucinations to be divine messages from a deity they refer to as 'Adekin, the Colorful Pariah'.
4. Mania: Roughly four (4) weeks after initial infection, infected individuals will become animalistic in behavior and lash out at any living organism near them in an attempt to spread SCP-XXXX-1 infection, which they fervently say is 'Adekin's blessing'.
5. [REDACTED]
6. Full Conversion: The corpse of the infected individual will rapidly swell and split open in a fashion similar to a butterfly emerging from its cocoon, eventually transforming into an instance of SCP-XXXX-2.
