SCP-4000 showing Researcher's home.
Item #: 4000
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4000 is to be kept in a standard reinforced containment cell, equipped with water pumps. Outside of its containment cell, electrical fences (similar to that used to contain SCP-967) are to be in place to administer 50,000 volts per milliamp upon being passed through. Acts of violence of any kind must be avoided within 4000’s perceivable range to avoid inducing its ‘rage state.’ No level 4 personnel or higher are to be permitted within 4000’s perceivable range to ensure that classified material is not jeopardized. If SCP-4000 enters its ‘rage state’ the containment cell should be evacuated, immediately and water pumped in until 4000 is submerged completely and then left for a 72 hour period, if containment is breached electrical fences should be activated and standard issue tasers to quickly bring down 4000 then quickly returned to its cell, then immediately flooded for a 72 hour period.
Description: SCP-4000 is a sphere 24.26 centimeters in diameter and made of an unknown metallic substance that reflects 75% of light when inactive. The sphere resides 5 feet above the ground at nearly all times and releases an unidentified radiation. When any sentient creature enters an unobstructed 5-kilometer range, hereafter referred to as the perceivable range, the sphere will move towards the subject with an unknown form of propulsion. When the subject is able to see the surface of SCP-4000’s surface will begin showing an event from the past involving the subject in some way, it will periodically change events with an unpredictable degree until the subject leaves 4000’s perceivable range. Examples of these events are in Experiment log 4000-21 During the active state low pitch screech's similar to when 4000 enters its rage state except at a much lower frequency have been recorded at different intervals, leading to the belief that 4000 may be sentient. Analysis of these sounds is recorded in File 4000-38.
If at anytime an act that might perceive by any sentient creature as violent, occurs within 4000’s perceivable range SCP-4000 will quickly begin flying around at a recorded speed 50 mph and release a screeching sound recorded to reach 25,000 hertz and higher. This has continued for up to 72 hours, the only thing to have been recorded to stop the sphere at any time is either delivering an electrical shock of over 50,000 volts or submerging SCP-4000 under any liquid substance.
Recovery Log: SCP-4000 was discovered after reports of a psychic accurately revealing events from clients past with a floating metal sphere, in [Redacted]. It was discovered by Mister Ajdahba in Western Sahara floating southward, he was able to move it to his home where he began using it as a way to make money. Agents who came to investigate rumors the first to encounter SCP-4000’s rage state, as Agent [redacted] struck Mister Ajdahba. Mister Ajdahba was killed nearly immediately by a direct strike to the heart, and Agent [Redacted] left arm was decapitated. The sphere came to rest in a nearby well where it was finally obtained and transported to [Redacted].
Experiment Log 4000-21:
Experiment 4000-a:
Subject: D-1469, D-1469 was convicted of three separate murders
Foreword: This is the first experiment after initial containment of 4000. -Dr. Matthews
D-1469 enters the chamber and is instructed to approach SCP-4000. D-1469 quickly voiced resistance as SCP-4000 began moving towards him. As soon as 4000 was within the subject's view images of a room were D-1469 is visibly seen beating an unidentified deceased individual with a large club. D-1469 voices confusion and attempts to strike 4000 resulting in a rage state. D-1469 was immediately killed and 4000 came to rest 44 minutes later. The images viewed are of no known murder committed by D-1469.
Experiment 4000-f:
Subject: Agent [Redacted]
Subject instructed to enter and to watch 4000 for an hour. The first image shows a room unfamiliar to the subject with three men sitting at a table speaking about the worth of a calf in Lithuanian. Twenty minutes later the image changes to three days later, within subjects room while he sleeps, subject voices humorous discomfort and a series of screeching sounds are detected by recording equipment. Ten minutes later it switched to subject in a bar with an individual stated to be an ex-girlfriend, the subject was unable to recall her name. Ten minutes later an image of a low lit area is perceived and the sounds of a rhythmic beating identified to be a heartbeat. It is theorized that it may be the subject within his mother's womb. This was continued until the hour mark.
Afterword- Later research into Agent [Redacted]’s mother who was an orphan was discovered to have originated from a Lithuanian family, and the man was possibly her grandfather. -Dr. Matthews
Experiment 4000-Z
Subject: D-2341
Foreword: D-2341 was exposed to SCP-096 before but did not see it and was transferred into testing with SCP-4000. -Dr. Ryans
Subject enters and is instructed to attempt contact with SCP-4000. Subject complies and makes contact which results in a small screech from SCP-4000 but nothing else. An image of a bar appears for a minute, then changes to an experiment involving 096, the subject clearly sees 096 and becomes panicked. Within twenty minutes SCP-096 arrived and killed the subject. SCP-4000 entered its rage state striking 096 several times resulting in little damage as 096 began killing personnel observing the experiment. Containment was reestablished with a great deal of difficulty.
Afterword- So no more tests with D’s who have been exposed to other SCP, without otherization at least. I really do not want to end up like Matthews. -Dr. Ryans
File 4000-38:
The following is the research conducted previously by Dr. Matthews assistant, and now by Researcher Manes into the sounds created by SCP-4000.
Notes- Researcher Simon- 06/16/— We have begun analyzing recordings of 4000 and are quite confident that 4000 is in some way making these screeches as an abstract way of communicating. We have already begun analyzing and believe we have a start.
07/21/— We have succeeded in discerning patterns in 4000’s sounds it will take much longer than I had hoped, but we were able to retrieve what may have been responses when researchers attempted to ask questions and received a few corresponding sounds at an extremely low frequency. We are continuing to analyze.
Researcher Manes 01/07/— I am here forth in charge of the study of SCP-4000’s talking due to Simon’s unfortunate departure. I am quite lucky as a good deal of research is already completed, we are now able to understand 45 to around 55 percent of what SCP-4000 is saying. The most difficulty has been from the seemingly random nature of it all. The following is recording first from a rage state during a containment breach.
SCP-4000: [Untranslated] why oh why oh why so loud, the fighting [Untranslated] my mind it rings and rings with the fighting across the expanse/stretch. [Untranslated] among it I must wade for you my first/brother. Only home shall we rest and [Untranslated] please first/brother you must hurry.
This speech continues for the entire time. The next is the most recent interview conducted by D-2554.
[Begin Log]
D-2554: Um, what are you?
4000: I am the second of the first/brother of the expanse [Untranslated]
D-2554:Is that alright, wait is that my birthday?
4000: [Untranslated]
D-2554: Damn I feel stupid, how do you see into the past?
4000: [Untranslated] while I slip my gaze past the laws of the expanse.
