Containment Procedures: A perimeter is to be set up around the infected area. No entity is permitted to cross the perimeter without authentication from the site administrator. Unauthorized entities are to be terminated. Every three years, the perimeter must be expanded 3 kilometres in diameter.(1.5 in each direction). If an authorized entity is infected with SCP-XXXX it must be terminated immediately and its limbs should be severed.

Description: SCP-XXXX is located in a western Canadian town ███████ in ███████ ███████.

SCP-XXXX is an unidentified species of moss, orange in coloration. While it resembles other species of moss, they do not genetically match. The moss can grow on any substance including other living organisms, it does this by digging it's roots into the material it is growing on using a corrosive sludge that is constantly produced to dig into solid substances. The moss appears to have nerves that send information back to the central part of SCP-XXXX. According to test subjects it appears to have high intelligence and knowledge. It appears to be aware of the SCP foundation and its efforts. The moss has covered the entire town. It grows about 100 meters per year, causing the SCP foundation to expand the perimeter's borders.

If a living organism comes in contact with SCP-XXXX then they become SCP-XXXX-1. The infected entity will start being covered in moss. The process is described as extremely painful. Removal of the moss will result in the flesh of the infected entity being removed as well. 24 hours after infection they will die. After approximately 5 hours, they will be covered fully in SCP-XXXX. They will then become animated and walk back to a moss covered area. This is to hypothetically share information with the hive mind through contact. After that they will seek out other living organisms. On seeing another living organism they will try to terminate the organism. SCP-XXXX-1 instances are invincible and can only be terminated by severing its limbs preventing mobility. After SCP-XXXX receives information they can regrow copies of that SCP-XXXX-1 instances.

Despite rigorous testing, the SCP foundation has yet to find a way to stop the growth of SCP-XXXX.

Interviewer: Dr. Anderson
Forward: The following is an interview of a pre-death SCP-XXXX-1 instance.
DR ANDERSON: Hey, how are you doing?
D-Class: Kill me, it hurts.
DR ANDERSON: We will, but can you answer some questions first?
D-Class:…
DR ANDERSON: What do you know about the moss?
D-Class: It thinks you're stupid. Your foundation.
DR ANDERSON: Why?
D-Class: It cannot be stopped. It thinks you're pathetic and delaying the inevitable.
DR ANDERSON: What does it want?
D-Class: It wants to spread, it wants to take over our world and turn it into its own. It's going to happen no matter what, it will take time, but "but's"? it's in no hurry. It is only a matter of time until it is everything.
DR ANDERSON: Who am I talking to?
D-Class: *laughter* Me of course.
DR ANDERSON: who!
D-Class: I know█████████████████████
DR ANDERSON: How do you know that?
D-Class: *more laughter*

Discovery
Foundation agents were notified after local law enforcement were notified of a person being attacked by a squirrel covered in orange mossy substance. After a search of the area they came across SCP-XXXX.

Two D-Class are sent into the town in biohazard suits. As they traverse the town the thickness of the moss increases. They are than attacked by several SCP-XXXX-1 instances resembling birds. The D-Class take refuge in a building. Inside the building more SCP XXXX-1 instances attack them killing 1 D-class. the rest fled outside the building but were killed by the SCP XXXX-1 instances.

An unmanned drone was sent into the site. It noticed various SCP-XXXX-1 instances, which ignored it. It investigated the building the D-class hid in. eventually a Humanoid SCP XXXX-1 instance tried to attack the unmanned drone.eventually a humanoid SCP-XXXX-1 instance tried to attack the unmanned drone. The drone left, and headed towards the school. The amount of SCP-XXXX-1 instances increased until the drone was destroyed by them.

An airborne drone was sent in to the site. Instantly it was attacked by SCP-XXXX-1 instances resembling birds. It appeared these instances were capable of flight. The drone was knocked out of the sky and was destroyed.

09/24/2013
An MTF unit consisting of 4 MTFs was sent into the site. They arrived at the school without seeing an SCP-XXXX-1 instance. When they entered the school, they were attacked by SCP-XXXX-1? instances resembling rats.These instances were terminated.hey rounded a corner and noticed moss vines hanging from the ceiling. when an MTF approached the vines the vines attacked the MTF. the vine appeared to resemble an oversized leech. The other MTF's fled the area. They found the gym. The gym seemed to be more brain. An MTF was sprayed with the sludge. This time it was corrosive and burned through his suit and skin. The other two MTFs tried to flee the school but encountered three humanoid SCP-XXXX-1 instances. The MTFs were able to avoid them. They retreated into the basement. In the basement were what looked like "flesh balls". One of these balls opened up 4 flaps and an underdeveloped dog fell out. SCP-XXXX began covering it quickly. This is believed to be how some SCP-XXXX-1 instances are made. More sludge was sprayed at them, but they avoided it. They ran into a giant cavern filled with SCP-XXXX's brain. It appeared to be kilometers deep. The dog SCP-XXXX-1 instance attacked them. One MTF and the dog fell down the cavern. The last remaining MTF tried to escape but was grabbed by one of the leech entities. The foundation then banned all future exploration into SCP-XXXX.

07/24/2013
An SCP-XXXX-1 instance resembling a deer approached the perimeter. The Site Agents Are "Site" & "Agents" supposed to be capitalized? tried to terminate the instance using guns. This did not affect the instance, which then attacked a site agent, impaling its antlers through the agent. It then breached the perimeter before being run over by a foundation vehicle. It was then rendered immobile.

02/21/2016
A group of SCP-XXXX-1 instances resembling humans breached the perimeter by running past the agents. They then attacked one of the doctors on site. They were also run over with a vehicle. The SCP-XXXX-1 instances were unharmed and tried to attack a site agent before they were run over again. Doctor ███████ then severed the limbs of the SCP-XXXX-1 instance. s? He then requested the same be done to him after he was infected with SCP-XXXX.

06/09/2018
A dog SCP-XXXX-1 instance approached the perimeter. It howled and a swarm of SCP-XXXX-1 instances swarmed the perimeter. Most were terminated but at least 20 SCP-XXXX-1 instances escaped.

Addendum
The SCP foundation is still looking for breached instances. This article is under review for a better containment procedure.

It is hypothesized that destroying the brain could destroy SCP-XXXX's Brain could destroy it. all attempts to destroy the brain have failed. SCP-XXXX's brain will regenerate within 1 hour after taking any amount of damage.
