Item #: SCP - XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: The Object is to be kept in a standard containment chamber with the inside plated with fire-resistant material. The room is to be monitored with visual, auditory, and thermal devices. The room does not need to be cleaned.
Description: The entity is a 10-centimeter in diameter sphere that glows with a yellow color identified as hex signature #fffb87. The entity glows with the power of 150 lumens.
Addendum: Making what is perceived to be aggressive or surprising physical contact with the entity will provoke it to shine two direct beams of concentrated light at the attacker's eyes, causing permanent blindness.
If the entity is touched by a human, it will proceed to communicate with the person by what are thought to be telepathic means. However, if the person touching the entity
stops touching it, the person will spontaneously combust. The person, once set on fire, never reports feeling alarmed or afflicted by the fire, but will begin to produce tears
from the eyes, however, these evaporate almost instantly due to the heat of the flames.

Recovery Timeline of SCP - XXXX
12/13/200█ - 4:23 to 4:35 P.M. - Authorities of █████, Ohio receive reports of 6 people spontaneously combusting Near an abandoned clothing shop on █████████ Drive, ZIP:█████ over the course of 12 minutes. The 6 are confirmed to have left the residence of the eldest in the group 38 minutes before the event.
12/13/200█ - 4:37 P.M. - Fire department personnel and town deputies dispatched to the location of the reported event.
12/13/200█ - 4:41 P.M. - Dispatched personnel arrive at the location of the reported event, find 4 smoldering corpses on the road, with 2 corpses still inside the abandoned shop. Fire department personnel extinguish the clothing store, and deputies enter the building to investigate. The only thing of note discovered is a 10-centimeter in diameter sphere glowing yellow.
12/13/200█ - 5:13 P.M. - Officer ████ attempts to pick up the object, but freezes the moment he touches it. He is pulled away by the other officers but spontaneously combusts, severely burning one of the assisting officers. Officer ████ calmly begins to tell the supporting officers of a supposedly dangerous and harmful entity and begins to produce tears. Fire Personnel enter the building and attempt to extinguish Officer ████, but all liquids evaporate before reaching the flames.
12/13/200█ - 5:15 P.M. - Officer ████ expires due to injury caused by the flames, all other fires extinguished by fire personnel. All remaining personnel instructed to avoid contact with the object.

[Test A - █/██/20██, Dr. █████████
Subject: SCP - XXXX
Procedure: One D-class personnel is to enter the chamber containing SCP - XXXX and approach the entity. The D-class is then to be instructed to pick up the item and attempt to speak to it.
Results: The D-class is made to enter the chamber and instructed to approach the entity. The D-class slowly approaches the entity and stops approximately 0.8 meters from the entity. The D-class is instructed to pick up the entity. The D-class hesitates but does as instructed. When the D-class touches the entity he immediately jumps backward. The D-class bursts into flames but stands still a few meters away from the entity. The D-class begins to cry and looks directly at the camera being used to monitor the experiment. The D-class is unresponsive when addressed by the personnel monitoring the test. The D-class expires, being reduced to a pile of ash.
Test terminated
Analysis: It appears that the D-class burst into flames the moment it touched the entity. I wonder if this is due to a burst of heat, or something else. The next test will be monitored with thermal equipment. Do only organisms catch fire, or do inanimate objects catch fire as well? Was the D-class only crying due to distress?]
[Test B - █/█/20██, Dr. █████████ with Dr. █████ assisting
Subject: SCP - XXXX
Procedure: One D-class personnel equipped with a two-meters long wooden pole is to enter the chamber containing SCP - XXXX. The D-class is to make physical contact with the entity using the pole, and subsequently pull the pole back. Presuming the pole catches fire, the D-class will be instructed to touch the entity and not break physical contact with the entity.
Results: The D-class is made to enter the chamber and instructed to "poke" the entity with the wooden pole. The D-class obliges, making momentary contact with the entity using the wooden pole. The entity then directs two beams of concentrated light at the D-class' eyes causing him to go permanently blind.
Test terminated.
Analysis: The results of this experiment lead me to believe That the entity possesses instinctual defense protocols and basic knowledge of, at least, human anatomy. I wonder if the entity will attack everyone in a space if provoked, or just the attacker? And the wood did not catch fire, leading me to believe that the combustion of an object must be carried out on only organisms.]
[Test C - █/██/20██, Dr. █████████ with Dr. █████ assisting
Subject: SCP - XXXX
Procedure: Two D-class personnel, one equipped with a two-meters long wooden pole, are to enter the chamber containing SCP - XXXX. The D-class bearing the pole is to make physical contact with the entity using the pole, and subsequently pull the pole back. If only the provoking D-class goes blind, the blinded D-class will be escorted out of the chamber and given a mental assessment, and subsequently terminated, while the second D-class will be instructed to touch the entity and not break contact until instructed. If both D-class are afflicted with blindness, the test will be terminated.
Results: Both D-class are made to enter the chamber. The D-class bearing the pole is instructed to "poke" the entity with the wooden pole. The D-class hesitates, but obliges, making momentary contact with the entity with the wooden pole. The entity then directs two beams of concentrated light at the provoking D-class' eyes, causing her to go permanently blind. The provoking D-class is escorted out of the chamber. The second D-class, clearly disturbed by what just occurred, is instructed to slowly approach the entity. The D-class shakes his head in disobedience. He is reminded that failure to comply with commands is grounds for termination. The D-class slowly approaches the entity. The D-class stops 0.2 meters from the entity. The D-class is instructed to make and maintain physical contact with the entity. The D-class slowly raises one hand while covering his eyes with his other hand. However, the moment he touches the entity, he drops the hand covering his eyes to his side and stares at the entity. The D-class stands perfectly still. It is observed that his mouth is moving, but he is not perceived to articulate any words. After 18 minutes, the D-class is instructed to break contact with the entity, he does so, and immediately catches fire. The researchers monitoring the experiment ask the D-class if he feels the heat afflicting his body, and despite his skin quickly charring, the D-class describes no pain or distress and begins crying. The D-class adds that the entity was speaking to him, despite no perceivable dialogue being exchanged between the entity and anyone throughout the entire experiment. When asked what the entity was communicating, the D-class can only elaborate that the entity was telling him about what it was that caused the entity to contract it's "…characteristics or some shit. Like, how it was formed." before he expires of organ failure due to extreme heat.
Test terminated.
Analysis: It has been confirmed that if you act aggressively with the entity, you will be incapacitated of sight, however, no-one else will be afflicted. It has also been concluded that there is some sort of communication between those touching the entity and the entity itself. What is being communicated must be elaborated upon, however. We don't know exactly how the entity is communicating with other organisms, but we can try to monitor what it is communicating.]
[Test D - █/██/20██, Dr. █████████ with Dr. █████ assisting
Subject: SCP - XXXX
Procedure: One D-class personnel with a surgically-implanted chip in their brain to monitor thoughts will be made to enter the chamber containing SCP - XXXX. The D-class will be instructed to make physical contact with the entity, and be instructed to maintain contact until told otherwise.
Results: The D-class is made to enter the chamber and instructed to approach the entity. The D-class stops 0.3 meters away from the entity. The D-class is instructed to make physical contact with the entity and to not break contact until instructed. The D-class complies, and as the D-class makes contact, She immediately begins conversing with the entity as made evident from the reports from the brain monitor implanted in the D-class.
The following is text enactment of a mental conversation between D-class and SCP - XXXX:
SCP - XXXX: Hello. You can hear me.
D-class: What the Fuck? who is that? I can hear you. Who's speaking to me?
SCP - XXXX: I am the entity you are currently touching with your right forefinger.
D-class: You're speaking into my brain. Jesus Christ. How are you doing this? who are you?
SCP - XXXX: I've established a telepathic link between us, please don't be scared. I'm a man who died a long time ago.
D-class: If you died, then how the fuck are you speaking to me? This is fucking insane.
SCP - XXXX: I was killed by an entity that causes those it kills to end up like me. A conscious light. I have had only one goal since I perished at the hands of that entity. Tell those who are still alive about it.
D-class: well, what is this thing? How did you die?
SCP - XXXX: I… really, I can't explain it. It's inexplicable. But I can tell you how I died.
D-class: Okay, okay, okay, yes, please tell me about how you died.
SCP - XXXX: Do you want the short version, or can I tell you everything?
D-class: Um, everything, I guess. It's not like I'm doing anything else. (the D-class feels slight humor, soon replaced by sadness)
SCP - XXXX: Okay, this thing haunted me from the day of my birth, a long while back. I first noticed it when I was about 3, but thought nothing of it. I noticed it many times after that, but it was always just… there.
D-class: Sounds like you had some demons.
SCP - XXXX:… Demons don't exist.
D-class: Oh, uh, I meant something else. Never mind.
SCP - XXXX: Okay, as I learned more about the world, it became very clear that this thing was out of place. I told other people about it, but they didn't notice it. So I lived my life, noticing it less and less. I… made a good life for myself. I got married, had two kids, got a good job, I was pretty set. But it was such a shame.
D-class: What?
SCP - XXXX: My… youngest child. There was an accident. I didn't even see it. A car. She was hit by a car.
D-class: Oh. I'm… sorry.
SCP - XXXX: She lived, though. She was alive. We drove her to the hospital. Almost hit a kid ourselves in our hurry. When we got to the hospital, they were able to do some things for her. They prolonged her life, but they told me she would not live. That's when it happened, the thing, I started noticing it again. And with less effort. I noticed it more and more every day. And my daughter, she got worse and worse. She was going to die, but I couldn't accept it. I had to live with the knowledge that her end was coming. And then it did. (slight pause) She died a week before her third birthday. And I was still noticing it, the thing. I could see it now. Then, one night, It appeared before me and asked me if I could have done anything. I was so shocked, I had never heard it before. And then I was suddenly drowning. I was drowning in nothing, and the thing, it just looked at me. It asked me again if I could have done anything. And then I died. It… I was… dead, but I was still there. I was this. And it came to me, it said: "You could have".
(The D-class begins to feel extreme stress)
SCP - XXXX: I need you to do something for me.
D-class: Yes?
SCP - XXXX: When you get out of here, tell them about this thing. Please.
D-class: I will
SCP - XXXX: Thank you
The D-class then breaks physical contact with the entity. It has been 32 minutes since the D-class established contact. The D-class combusts and begins to cry. She looks through the glass at the personnel monitoring the test. When the personnel asks what was communicated, The D-class says "There's a thing, a… something, that you have to do something about. It's out there. It hurts people." The D-class expires due to extreme heat.
Test terminated
Analysis: The entity was in fact communicating with D-class through what appears to be a telepathic link. The entity that SCP - XXXX described is to be dubbed SCP - XXXX-A. Extensive research will be carried out to perhaps identify the man that SCP - XXXX once was.]
[Test E - ██/██/20██
DATA EXPPUNGED]
[INCIDENT REPORT - CONTAINMENT BREACH - ██/██/20██
During the enactment of test XXXX - E, The entity is seen to have produced several cracks on what is identified to be it's "shell". Shortly after Test F was terminated, The entity began producing flames from the crack at an accelerating rate. The flames melted the containment chamber and began to burn the facility where it was being held. Attempts were made to extinguish the flames, but most liquids evaporated before making contact with the flames due to extreme heat. Despite the heat, the visual monitor camera being used to monitor the entity continued to record all happenings in the now-destroyed container, and visual records show a seemingly indescribable entity emerge from the cracked shell of SCP - XXXX before retreating back into the shell exactly 12 minutes after emerging. 28 minutes later, the crack in SCP - XXXX's "shell" seemed to repair itself, and the flames all died out in a matter of seconds. Due to the flames, 93 personnel perished. The entity that emerged from SCP - XXXX's shell has been dubbed separate entity SCP - XXXX - A. Guidelines have been put in place to ensure no more than 3 persons may be in physical contact with SCP - XXXX at once as to make sure an event such as this never occurs again. A large portion of the facility was destroyed, but later rebuilt.]
