Item #: SCP-(TBD) "The weeping pen"
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures:
Containment procedures for SCP-X, as well as Instances SCP-X-1,SCP-X-2 and SCP-X-3 are extremely critical and must be followed precisely.
SCP-X "The weeping pen", is to be contained within a ventilated room comprised of at least 5" thick steel, insulated by a 6' thick conrete barrier. so as to prevent any possibility of leakage. Doors to the room must be entirely sealable and airtight, so as to prevent instances of SCP-X-2 and SCP-X-3 from being able to leak out. Additionally, an observational window comprised of 6" bulletproof glass is to be fitted, airtight, and monitored at all times. It is of critical importance that the entire room is thickly secured, sealed and isolated away from all organic material, including other organic SCPs. This room must be consistently kept at a temperature of at least 250°C through the usage of superheated air and constant segregated furnaces. There must be available within the observation room and armoury of SCP blacksite [redacted], experimental flamethrowers capable of temperatures of 1500°C, to be used in order to make inert the instances of SCP-X-2 and SCP-X-3; as well as thickened and reinforced Hazmat suits which must be worn by containment teams at all times until full recontainment is achieved.
In the event of a containment breach, MTF [redacted], must be sent, armed with the previously mentioned specifications to recontain the instances of SCP-X-2 and SCP-X-3.
SCP-X and SCP-X-1 will remain in place unless taken or moved, and as such, focus must be placed on the moving instances of SCP-X-2 and SCP-X-3.
Finally, should none of these measures succeed and the instances manage to break free of the facility, authorization may be given to initiate the detonation sequence of a mobile nuclear warhead, which must be present at the facility at all times in case of this instance.
Should these guidelines be followed, SCP-X and it's seperate instances must remain at SCP Blacksite [redacted] until further notice or until study has concluded.
For transport, SCP-X and it's instances must be contained inside insulated and airtight vehicles, heated to at least 1000°C through intense portable heaters, and accompanied by members of MTF [redacted] equipped with aforementioned experimental flamethrowers and Hazmat suits.
Description: SCP-X "The Weeping Pen" is an antique fountain pen, observationally dated at around the middle of the victorian era, estimated circa 1873. The appearance of the SCP is that of a consitently wet, copper tip. The handle is covered in a black-stained leather and appears to be made of wood.
The SCP possesses anomolous properties in the form of a consistently leaking black ink which, upon contact with organic material, appears to cause large Lesions and buboes to form. These buboes often preceed a reported sensation of intense burning, accompanied by a intense flashbacks and a feeling of "dreadful nostalgia" by human subjects. After approximately [redacted] seconds, these lesions and buboes begin to cease growing and are punctued from within by an unknown sharp object. At this point, buboes then leak out a black substance, which has been concluded to be similar in nature to the ink from the pen. This process continues until subjects are entirely covered in ink or until the limb is amputated.
This black substance from subjects and the substance excreted from the pen, codified SCP-X-2 and SCP-X-3 respectively, appears to cause a similar reaction if exposed to more organic matter; making this substance as well as the ink extremely infectious and biohazardous. It is hypothesized that should SCP-X, along with it's sub-SCP's manage to escape, it could cause an extinction level event, with the amount of SCP-X-3 increasing exponentially when exposed to landscapes heavy with organic matter; replacing this organic matter with even more instances of SCP-X-3.
Tests; indexed as [redacted] at site [redacted], have revealed that these substances excreted from the pen, as well as from victims, do not act as typical liquid substances. SCP-X-2 and SCP-X-3 do not become absorbed into paper, yet do stain it. These substances also do not exhibit typical non-sentient behaviour as they automatically flow towards near organic matter, often defying laws of liquid dynamics by moving up inclines. The rate of movement is relatively slow at [redacted], but appears to not stop.
A trial indexed as [redacted] as well as an account elaborated in the addendum section of this report, seem to suggest that the movement and properties of SCP-X-2 and SCP-X-3 may be hindered by extreme heat gradients, beginning with slowed movement at 300° celsius , with substances becoming seemingly entirely inert at a peak temperature of 1150° celsius.
Requests for autopsies have been made to determine the exact source and nature of the effect of SCP-X-2 and SCP-X-3, yet have been deemed impossible due to the properties of the substances.
Addendum:
The following is based on an account by a surviving witness of initial contact with the SCP
SCP was discovered after an expedition onto a remote, uninhabited Island in british coloumbia had seen numerous wildfires. Civilian elements intending to combat the fire and rescue various endangered species encountered the SCP in what appeared to be an old lighthouse building. Lighthouse living quarters had already caught fire, yet the superstructure remained. Upon investigation, Civilians found SCP on a charred desk next to an unburnt journal bound in ink-soaked leather of unknown origin. Although desk and entirety of the interior had been burnt and charred, SCP remained pristine.
Note: Upon investigation of historical records of British Columbian lighthouses, said lighthouse at [redacted] island is not mentioned or documented.
