[INTEVIEW LOG 3982-1]

Dr. [REDACTED]: "This interview is on the subject of the most recent breach of containment, pertaining to SCP-3982. CoL. [REDACTED] is to give his report of the events taking place on that night."

*Col. [REDACTED] enters the interview room.

Dr. [REDACTED]: "Greetings Col. [REDACTED], a pleasure to have you here."

Col. [REDACTED]: "Normally, I would return the gesture, but I'd rather get to the point." *Col. [REDACTED] seems visibly agitated.*

Dr. [REDACTED]: " Alright then. We'll get to the point. What happened on the night of [DATA REDACTED]?"

Col. [REDACTED]: "Well, a lot of things happened. Five instances of SCP-3982 escaped the primary containment and took the forms of several MTF. We didn't even notice they were gone until we found the bodies."

Dr. [REDACTED]: "Why didn't the security cameras pick up on this? They should have seen the instances escaping."

Col. [REDACTED]: "That's the thing. They slipped out of the areas that had heavy surveillance. The field techies who were on the first capture mission for the object are looking into how the instances avoided surveillance and the fact that the other instances always know to go for the direction of the Alpha that was captured on the first sighting of SCP-3982. It seems like the objects always key on certain pheromones that are released on breaches like these. Coincidentally, these pheromones are only released when the damn things escape."

Dr. [REDACTED]: "Ah, yes. We at the research division are currently bringing this up to O5 Command. It seems that the pheromones are released to draw more instances to an Alpha. Now, Col., would you mind giving us your account of the events that took place on that night?"

Col. [REDACTED]: "I don't see any harm coming from it, so I will. That night was similar to most breaches. The air was a bit colder than usual, and it was way too quiet. Those two signs are bad juju on nights like that. We noticed five of our normal guards had gone missing, so we checked it out. Turned out they were getting a drink from the vending machine. I hope you know where this is going. Mullens greeted me with the normal standoffish attitude. Seems normal, right? Well, as they followed us back, one of them broke out into a sprint and jumped on my second in command, Stevens. It was Johnson, or what looked like Johnson. The instance just…it just fucking tore into him, ripping the poor boy to shreds. Stevens was screaming, crying for his mother. One of my men, Stevens' Lieutenant Isaac, in fact, made the decision to shoot the instance. It didn't go well. At this point, I had started calling for my men to retreat. One of the rookies on the team, Marcusson had contacted Site Command and TAU-13 had been dispatched to the area."

Dr. [REDACTED]: "So, what happened after TAU-13 had been sent to the area?"

Col. [REDACTED]: "The team didn't have too much problem with recapture. TAU-13 advised us to get to a safe place on site. After a couple hours tracking the instances down, TAU-13 gave the all-clear. You should get the recordings from their helmet cameras to have the details."

Dr. [REDACTED]: "Thank you for your report, Col. [REDACTED]. It will help extensively with research. You are dismissed."

  • Col. [REDACTED] exits the interview room*

Dr. [REDACTED]: "The Col. seemed slightly distressed when speaking of the objects. Researcher Sampson, take into account the possibility of an ability in SCP-3982's chemical composition that stimulates the release of the cortisol hormone in humanoids. Also, take into account its advanced problem-solving skills. Call in TAU-13-3, we have much to talk about."
