Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a locked box in the medical ward of Site 17 under the supervision of Dr. Tamarca. Use of SCP-XXXX must be approved by Dr. Tamarca, who must then write a report of its use for submission to a member of Level 4 personnel.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a pair of trauma shears1 with a black metal blade and handle. SCP-XXXX is approximately 20 centimeters in length, and weighs approximately 450 grams. The materials that make up SCP-XXXX are commonly used stainless steel and plastic.

Unlike regular trauma shears; SCP-XXXX is able to cut biological tissues. Using SCP-XXXX allows the user to create surgically precise cuts to any tissue including skin, muscle, and bone with very minimal effort. It also closes off any blood vessels cut through without any use of heat to cauterize them.

All tissues cut by SCP-XXXX remain alive for up to three times as long as they would when removed normally, and last a minimum of five minutes regardless of the type of tissue. Any tissue cut can be placed back on the body, and will reconnect on its own within an hour with pressure applied to it. No long term negative effects are observed in the replaced tissues, and infections are minimal.

No vital organs can be cut using SCP-XXXX without the rest of the body dying at a normal rate without them. Placing the organs back in the body will not undo any damages caused by their removal either. See Test #02174

The removal site of any tissue that dies after being cut with SCP-XXXX becomes blistered and inflamed. Patients report phantom pains2 described as crushing and burning sensations. Patients with severe enough tissue loss (such as an entire limb removed) report visions of being in a burning wreckage and sounds of heavy gun fire. See test #00021.

The re-cutting of any tissue within a certain period of time has also shown to cause the same hallucinations for the duration of the removal. See test #00143.

Test #00021:
D-3487 had their left arm removed at the surgical neck of their humerus. The arm was left unattached for 2 hours before dying. D-3487's residual limb3 quickly sprouted blisters, and they began to scream in pain. After approximately five minutes D-3487 began to reach out as if to grab some object above them, and then yelled "I need an evacuation team. There are four of us still alive. Do you read me?".

After another two minutes D-3487 began to attempt to yank on his non-existent left arm. After an estimated thirty seconds he passed out, and fell into a coma for three weeks. Upon awaking he repeated this cycle with small changes. D-3487 perished after the fifth cycle six months later.

Test #00143:
D-9561 had their abdomen and stomach cut open by Dr. Tamarca using SCP-XXXX after they had ingested a foreign object in a prior experiment with SCP-████. The subject was operated on while on their back so as to keep their gastric acids from leaking out of their stomach. D-9561 reported no pain, but refused to open their eyes during the procedure.

The foreign object was removed, and both the stomach and abdomen were closed using pressure bandages. D-9561's abdomen was then reopened with SCP-XXXX approximately one hour later to remove the pressure bandage left on their stomach. Upon reopening their abdomen, D-9561 began to experience the hallucinations, and had to be sedated to finish the procedure. D-9561 has had no repeat episode of the hallucinations after the abdomen was resealed.

Test #00357:
D-14562's head was completely severed at the neck by Dr. Hacolm using SCP-XXXX. D-14562's lungs immediately ceased to work upon the removal of their head due to the lack of input from the brain, and D-14562's head began to silently scream as they began to suffocate.

The outcome was fully documented, and D-14562's head was replaced within thirty seconds of removal. Approximately one minute later D-14562 regained use of their lungs, and was given medical treatment to ensure no severe damage was done.

Test #02174:
D-21956 had their heart removed by Dr. Tamarca using SCP-XXXX. D-21956 had had a small mass form in the left ventricle of their heart during an experiment with SCP-████, and required immediate removal.

D-21956's heart continued to beat due to its independent electrical circuit, however D-21956's body was left without any blood circulation from the removed heart. D-21956's body was artificially circulated to the best of the facility medical team's ability, but this proved ineffective due to no proper equipment for this situation being available at such short notice.

The removal of the mass from D-21956's heart proved very difficult, and took approximately seventeen minutes. During this time D-21956 suffered severe brain damage from the lack of oxygen. D-21956's heart was placed back into their body. The heart was fully reconnected after approximately ten minutes, however no improvements were observed in their condition after this.

D-21956 was pronounced permanently brain dead five minutes after the heart was reconnected. No improvements were observed as of the time of this report.
