Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be held in a reinforced frosted glass cube 15.625 m3 with a hermetic seal. The roof of the glass cube is the only surface unfrosted. A filtration system with the ability to flush the chamber of contaminated air in one minute is necessary for contact with human personnel. Surrounding the initial glass cube is a concrete bunker 64 m3.
For research purposes, the bunker must have a retractable roof, providing access to the night sky in an area with low to no levels of light pollution.
SCP-XXXX is accessible to D-Class for experimental use and only with Security Officers and C-Class personnel observing. All experiments surrounding SCP-XXXX must be conducted at Site D-32: Astronomy Ward in ████████, Ohio. Any new information regarding the "Cosmic Keeper"'s description or actions must be immediately reported to an O5 Council Member.
Any contact from Class C or higher personnel with SCP-XXXX must be facilitated with fully body HazMat suits.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a ████ ████████████ ██████████ brass refracting telescope made in 1890 in ███████, Germany. SCP-XXXX releases a thick pheromone only effective on humans and some sheep. The pheromone is only effective within five feet of the object, and its effects on the victim are exponential. Drawing curiosity, it lures the viewer to peer through the eyepiece at night in a place where the victim can see the sky. At first, the viewer sees themselves, then, upon adjustment of the eye piece, the telescope "zooms out" showing planet Earth. Continuing along this patters, the viewer is forced to witness their size compared to the cosmos. Once SCP-XXXX has alerted it's viewer of their insignificance, it speeds through the cosmos until they leave the universe. The viewer can now see what is referred to as the "Cosmic Keeper" by all viewers. No descriptions of the "Cosmic Keeper" exist because shortly after using SCP-XXXX, the viewer commits suicide. In cases where the viewer is restrained, severe cranial hemorrhaging occurs leading to death.
Digital cameras or recording devices do not work on SCP-XXXX.

Addendum: SCP-XXXX was brought to the Foundation's attention by a massive number of suicides in ██████, Northern Ireland. After the first suicide, the personal belongings were shared between the townsfolk. The telescope was passed between people, until it was marked as "cursed". The townsfolk would only interact with SCP-XXXX while covering their faces with cloth. Research Team C-934 attempted to remove the telescope, but lack of precautions led to the team's death. Containment Team C-23 followed the example of the villagers, and used HazMat suits.

Interviewed: D-21456, Class-D personnel. Convicted murderer on death row.

Interviewer: Dr. ████

Foreword: [D-21456 enters Site D-32, Area 4, wearing a jumpsuit and an oxygen filter. He walks up to the glass holding chamber. Clearance is given, and D-21456 enters the room and sits on a small chair next to a table and SCP-XXXX. Three Security Officers are on stand-by, outside the glass, wearing HazMat suits and armed with tranquilizers. As D-21456 enters the glass holding chamber, the roof of the concrete bunker lifts, revealing the night sky.]

D-21456: Yeah, I can hear ya'.
Dr. ████: Great. Remember, you need to be as verbally descriptive as possible, alright?

D-21456: Understood.
Dr. ████: Please remove your mask.

D-21456: Done.
Dr. ████: Walk over to the telescope, put your eye to the eyepiece. Describe what you see.

D-21456: Alright…I see…It's all dark, I can't…Oh, wait. I see an eye, let me shift this…It's movin' out…I can see…I see myself.
Dr. ████: Can you clarify?

D-21456: It's me, looking through the telescope, I-It's me. It's movin' faster, further out…Holy sh-, it's Earth! I can see Earth… the moon…
Dr. ████: Can you slow down?
