Item Identification: SCP-XXXX - "God's Trail Mix"

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: This object is to be kept in a small, locked container and to be interacted with only under the surveillance of a staff member with Level 1 security clearance.

Description: SCP-XXXX's appearance is that of an ordinary bag of trail mix. Miscellaneous items can be seen within the 10x4 centimeter packet via a translucent plastic window about 2 centimeters in diameter. The primary color of the packet is a shade of dark brown, with blue and white outlines around blank rectangles on both the front and back. These blank rectangles are where one might expect a brand name, bar code, ingredient list, etc. However, none of these features are present.

SCP-XXXX's origins are unknown, although it was found by locals near a gas station in ██████, ████████ in the winter of 1992. According to speculation, the bag was first opened by a homeless individual who had found it while looking for their next meal in a dumpster. When they poured out the contents of the bag, they immediately discarded the packaging and ran away. Complaints about severed fingers lying on the sidewalk led to police forces confiscating SCP-XXXX.

Tests done by Class-D personnel later revealed the properties of SCP-XXXX. See Test Logs A through L for detailed descriptions of each test. Commonly known as 'God's Trail Mix', SCP-XXXX is a bag that fills with random objects every time it is emptied. The empty bag refills the instant that it is not being observed by a sentient entity. The methods in which SCP-XXXX gathers these miscellaneous objects is currently unknown.

Lab associates have not managed to find a method of predicting the objects that will appear within SCP-XXXX. The only known pattern is the criteria of items SCP-XXXX fills with: All objects are no larger than the bag itself, all objects are non-anomalous, and all objects are solid or have solid components.

Although SCP-XXXX isn't believed to be capable of thought or communication, it seems to cause those looking at it to become noticeably anxious. Most who have looked at SCP-XXXX have detailed a strange urge to open the object, but being inexplicably afraid of doing so concurrently. The reason for this is unknown. Other than the strange emotions it can create in a person, the bag has not shown any signs of being dangerous unless opened, so using high-level security for SCP-XXXX is not necessary.

The exterior of SCP-XXXX repairs itself after being been torn open and having all of its contents removed. It cannot be destroyed, as if it gets to the point where it can no longer surround the items it creates, it will reform entirely. When reforming, the structure of the packaging is consistent with previous description and doesn't appear to have a resistance to the force which previously destroyed it. See Test Log M for more information.

TESTING LOGS

Test A - Survey of Contents
D-Class Subject approaches SCP-XXXX reluctantly and peers through the translucent window. Subject appears distressed, yet proceeds to open the package without relucting. Subject pours out a collection of dead ants and lurches back from SCP-XXXX. Subject transported back to holding cell.

Test B - Survey of Contents
D-Class Subject shows little

Addendum: After hundreds of test openings, there have been no signs of SCP-4374 being dangerous if proper safety measures are utilized. Future tests will be attempts to try and control what appears in the bag, study its inner-workings, and learn more about its origins. Efforts at the SCP Foundation are now being focused less on SCP-4374, although SCP-4374 will still be tested until further notice.
