Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-4822 must be kept in a 3x3x3 meter containment cell with 15-centimeter concrete walls. The cell must be monitored by 2 black and white cameras at all times.
Description:
SCP-4822 is a glass mason jar, with measurements of 17 centimeters tall by 10 centimeters wide. On the exterior of SCP-4822 is a label that reads “Chartreuse”. Inside there is a thick, paint-like substance comprised of [REDACTED].
SCP-4822 transmits an unknown infection, referred to as SCP-4822-1. SCP-4822-1 is a terminal, lethal, highly spreadable infection. It spreads through seeing the color of the substance inside SCP-4822. This infection has multiple, rapidly changing effects consisting of 4 stages. Stage one sets in about 7 and a half minutes after exposure to SCP-4822. Stage one consists of slurring of speech, limbs going numb, confusion, and sudden exhaustion. Stage two sets in after approximately an hour after exposure and brings nausea, excessive sweating, bleeding from the ears, vomiting, and diarrhea. Stage three sets in after 5 hours of initial contact. SCP-4822-1 slowly turns the skin to the color of SCP-4822, as well as infecting the brain. Upon SCP-4822-1 reaching the brain the subject will begin to seek out other potential subjects. How they do this varies from depending on the infected individual, see addendum A1 for more information. Seeing this color on the skin also transmits SCP-4822–1. Stage four sets in after 24-48 hours. Stage four contains strokes, upwards of 40o celsius internal body temperature, and occasionally total organ failure. The only way SCP-4822-1 can be cured so far is by administering a class A amnestic before stage one of SCP-4822-1 begins. Attempting to display SCP-4822 on anything RGB will burn a hole through where it is displayed, potentially destroying foundation resources.
Before anyone other than class D personnel are exposed to SCP-4822, they must wear red-tinted glasses in order to stop exposure to SCP-4822

SCP-4822 was located in █████ county, Arizona. It was discovered when the ████ family ranch was discovered unmaintained for weeks. A neighbor called the county sheriffs department at █/██/██13 at 8:16 AM to try and discover the cause of the disappearance. Three officers arrived, one being agent R█████, a deep-cover agent working in the local sheriff department. This is the video recording from agent R█████'s body cam, in black and white.
Agent R█████: so, another missing persons report?
Officer B███: Yep.
The camera turns to look at the ████ family ranch. A dead pig is seen being eaten by two live pigs.
Officer J███: Ugh. That’s gross.
Agent R█████: I’ve seen worse.
The camera then shows Officer B███ and Officer J███ leaving the vehicle and approaching the door to the house. Agent R█████ follows. Officer B███ then knocks on the door.
Officer B███: Sheriff's department! Open up!
There is no response.
Officer B███: Anyone home?
There continues to be no response
Agent R█████ tries the door.
Agent R█████: It’s open.
All members move in. The camera then turns towards the dining room table at the back of the home. The family is sitting around the table, food still on the table. SCP-4822 is in the center of the table.
Agent R█████: What the…
Officer J███: are they… dead?
Officer J███ then walks towards them and checks for pulses.
Officer J███: they’re dead. Damn. What’s up with their skin?
Officer B███l: I don’t know…
The house is searched for approximately 10 minutes
Officer J███: I’m not feeling too hot. I think I need an ambulance.
An ambulance is called and arrives 8 minutes after.
The team is then brought to the clinic.
The recording ends there.
An MTF squad was deployed to █████ county with hazmat suits and night vision goggles. When they arrived they discovered that everyone was dead. Estimated casualties are ████. The MTF squad then located SCP-4822 using ████.
SCP-4822 was then brought to site ██.
Due to SCP-4288-1 being unknown at the time, there was an outbreak at site ██. All staff present were declared KIA, and the on-site nuke was detonated. Class D personnel were sent to review the footage. This lead to the discovery of SCP-4288-1 A MTF team was sent to recover anything left from site ██. SCP-4822 was found undamaged and recovered.
SCP-4822 was then brought to site ██, where it’s currently being held.
Experimentation Log:
E1: Viewing SCP-4822
Test one: A D class personnel was sent in with a video camera and told to record SCP-4822. The video was broadcast remotely to a tablet. Both the camera and the tablet were instantly consumed in flame. The class D subject was then terminated, and their body was incinerated.
Test two: A class D personnel was sent in with sunglasses. The subject was then contained for 10 minutes before displaying the effects of SCP-4822-1. The subject was then terminated and the body was incinerated.
Test three: A D class personnel was sent into SCP-4822s containment cell wearing red-tinted glasses. After no signs of SCP-4822-1 were shown, the subject was returned to their cell.
Addendum A1: Notes on stage 3 infected individuals. Collected from the secure vault of site ██.
This is a research log of Dr. G██████. It follows 3 different individuals afflicted with SCP-4822-1, from here on out referred to as subjects 1-3.
Subject 1, formerly Dr. C██████: Subject 1 is seen breaking her left arm by repeatedly hitting it with a pipe. It is unknown where this pipe was gathered from. This leads to the suspicion that individuals afflicted with SCP-4822-1 do not, or experience less pain. Further testing will be needed to see if this is true. Subject 1 then tried to receive medical aid, by calling out things such as "Please help me! I'm injured! It hurts so much" or "Doctor! I need a doctor!" as a few examples.
Subject 2, formerly D-██████: Subject 2 is seen attacking a foundation researcher before being terminated by a nearby guard. It is unknown if this was due to SCP-4822-1 or prior convictions, however, Subject 2 had never shown any hostility towards Foundation personnel before this event.
Subject 3, formerly Dr. B████: Subject 3 was seen wandering the halls, and shouting. They claimed things such as "My dear friends and colleagues, I have made the most astounding discovery! Come see! Quickly now, quickly!". They were seen hugging people and thanking them for their service. Before this event subject, 3 rarely made physical contact with others.
Addendum C1: Dr. G██████ was testing on SCP-4822 while wearing red-tinted glasses. Unknown to him, his glasses slipped, causing him to be exposed to SCP-4822. After showing signs of SCP-4822-1 infection an immediate lockdown was initiated. After he died due to SCP-4822-1 his body was incinerated.
Further experimentation requires authorization from two class 4 personnel.
