Description:
SCP-4XXX is the designation given to a neurological anomaly that appears to only affect humanoid-type subjects. SCP-4XXX is not animate , nor it has physical appearance or conuciousness. It is better described as an event that occurs entirely in the brain of such subjects experiencing it. Therefore , Special Containment Precedures should only apply to subjects who survived experiencing SCP-4XXX and or are in risk of experiencing SCP-4XXX.
Please note that SCP-4XXX is not contiguous therefore should not be treated as a virus.

By using survivor's testimonies , advanced neuroimaging and SCP-[REDACTED] to view SCP-4XXX-1s brain whilst they're experiencing SCP-4XXX , It is better described by its "victims" as "unique traumatic dream sequence" that is "indistiguishable from reality". SCP-4XXX differs from person to person based on experiences , locations , characters , events , items and objects from SCP-4XXX-1's life. Subjects that have experienced SCP-4XXX will now be referred to as SCP-4XXX-1.

SCP-4XXX-1 subjects claim to have been "trapped" in SCP-4XXX for weeks or even months on end , although in real time SCP-4XXX occurs for 5 to 48 minutes . During those minutes , SCP-4XXX-1 will get into a similar state such as a coma. [Further testing is required to determine if SCP-4XXX-1 can be awaken from such coma during SCP-4XXX.]
Subjects describe normal human behaviour during the duration of SCP-4XXX such as hunger , pain , breathing and ironically - even "sleeping and dreaming" during SCP-4XXX. These aspects are believed to be the cause of the dream being so "indistiguishable from reality".

During SCP-4XXX , 99% of the subjects have testified to have commited "horrific acts" given the desperate situation they were placed in.
It is believed that SCP-4XXX always resolves around a specific theme that makes SCP-4XXX-1 unpleasent or uncomfortable in a way , therefore SCP-4XXX-1 is almost forced to commit "horrific actions" such as murder , rape , abuse etc…

Following the "horrific acts" , SCP-4XXX-1 will slowly "descend into madness" over time , and even developing a wide range of psychological disorders. The most common ones are schizophrenia , anxiety , bipolar-ness , insanity , cognitive dissonance and so on. || Most subjects will "repress" their situation and are not able to cope with their own "actions" , therefore projecting the blame on other characters , items , objects , events during SCP-4XXX until the final stage where it will realize it is for the blame. Unable to cope with its actions , SCP-4XXX-1 will have to make a judgement call.

The Final Stage of SCP-4XXX

Surprsingly , SCP-4XXX-1 always gets to choose the outcome. Whether to keep on living , or to finally cope with the truth and die.
If it choose to die during the final stage , SCP-4XXX will end , causing SCP-4XXX-1 to die of brain-death.
Based on testmonies of survivors and experiments conducted relating SCP-4XXX , 72% of the subjects that chose to not take responsiblitiy for their actions , have testified that instead of awakening from the dream , the dream has restarted and they were "forced" to relive that same exact dream. So , as they are stuck in a vicious cycle , the only way to break the cycle is to finally accept it.
